OT: How to "own" a telephone number?
Hello!
We are open to the possibility of changing our business telephone number
shortly. This will most likely be necessary due to a physical move,
changing providers and a few other reasons. However, we woud like this to
be the *last* time we need to do this. Ever. No matter what. Is that
possible?
On the Internet, you get this power with domain names. We "own" our

"Best" VoIP provider for Asterisk?
Hello!
I would like to get connected with a VoIP provider for home. At some
point, I'm sure I will be connecting to it via an Asterisk box, but for
now, I will be using whatever hardware they provide.
What recomendations do you in the Asterisk community have for a reliable
VoIP service that will hopefully interoperate with Asterisk? A company
that is actually willing to work with an

- Advice on NetFinity 5000 series
I have an opportunity to pick up a couple of NetFinity 5500's 4 way Xeon
550's w/ 2 gig RAM for very little $$$
I have seen this:
http://www.mail-archive.com/asterisk-dev@lists.digium.com/msg00719.html
In it, there is a passing remark to the Digium cards having problems with
NetFinity's. Can anyone here comment on whether this is still an issue with

OT: PRI costs in US
Hello!
Several of my customers would like to add a backup to their Internet
connection. ISDN is a good solution: decently fast for a dial-up-type
connection, yet still faily affordable. While I was at it, I decided to
look at a couple of more creative telephone service options to possibly
improve their service or lower costs at the same time. These customers
range from having just a

Sixtel.net / IAX.CC - Vanity Toll-Free Number
How long does it take to get a vanity number? I signed up for an account,
pre-paid some money, and then placed a vanity number order. I did all of
that around Dec. 31st 2004. They said it would take 2-10 business days. It
is now Feb. 15th and still no vanity number. I've called them about a dozen
times and every time they tell me to keep calling the number to check it and
just wait. I'm

Best IP phone?
Hello!
I have finally ordered some Asterisk hardware: the TDM DevKit. However,
I want to use VoIP phones (or possibly adapters) for remote users. I
would like to get some suggestions on which phones to buy. I'm hoping
that some of you with real experience might be able to help me out!
Here are the features that are important to me:

Which analog phones to use and why?
Hello!
Now that I finally have my TDM board working, I want to move forward with
using PBX functions. However, it seems cumbersome to use standard POTS
telephones with Asterisk. I know that there are many of you installing
even large systems based on channel banks and analog telephones. What
phones are you using? How do you simulate phone system features on a
phone that doesn't have

Digium support quality: Excellent
Hello!
I wanted to make sure that, in addition to my complaints, I make it very
clear: Digium's support is excellent. The jury is still out on the
usefulness of the TDM products. However, Digium has worked very hard to
make sure that this issue is resolved. I actually got an e-mail from
someone at Digium actually asking what they could do to make me happy! She
even gave me

Error with cut.POSIXt and daylight savings time switchover dates
The following code:
cut(as.POSIXct("2009-11-01 04:00:00", tz="America/Los_Angeles"), "1 day")
gives the error:
Error in seq.int(0, to - from, by) : 'to' must be finite
This is related to November 1st, 2009 being the switchover date from daylight savings time to standard time in the America/Los_Angeles time zone. In particular, in cut.POSIXt, the starting

Calibrating both RX and TX gain?
Hello!
I'm having an echo problem with a TDM card. The TDM card is being fed by
a channel bank just 12 or so feet away. When you put an analog handset on
the line, both the RX and TX volume seem to be just fine. However, when I
use the TDM card, I have to have an rxgain of 13.5, and even then, the
audio is relatively quiet. I'm also getting echo on these lines, so I
have turned

Sixtel.net / IAX.CC - Vanity Toll-Free Numbe r
Hi,
I've tried to make toll-free DID work for the last 2-3 weeks. Apparently
only the IAX.CC/Sixtel personnel can make a call to my toll-free. Anybody
else just gets a busy signal. It takes for them about 5-6 business days to
respond to my request. It seems they are looking in the once a week to the
High priority tickets.
It also seems that they are permanently closed ! No matter when I

Message mixing after switchover from mbox to maildir
Hi everyone,
Here is the story. We are running Redhat Enterprise Linux 4, and were
using Dovecot .99.x . At
one point, we chose to switch from mbox to maildir (and still use
Dovecot). After the switchover
our users reported a bug when using Thunderbird:
"A new behavior that I have observed a couple of times is that the new IMAP
server confuses email headers with content. E.g., I have an

Major problems with TDM400 and specific telephones: suggestions?
Hello!
Attached to the bottom of this e-mail is an edited version of an e-mail I
originally wrote to Digium tech support regarding Ouch and Power alarm
errors I have been receiving on my TDM400. It contains a great deal of
detail regarding my setup. In the end, I have found that one of the 5
phones I'm trying to make work with Asterisk is contributing to the
generation of these errors.

making a route sticky
Is it possible to have a route stick in the kernel, even if device it points to
goes to roller coaster up and down drive.
For example. I have an ADSL modem and am doing VPN over it. There's a route
needed for VPN added like this:
ip route add 192.168.1.0/24 via 1.2.3.4 src 192.168.2.1
There are two problems with it:
a) if ADSL link is down when above command is executed, the route

Roller Coaster Tycoon, Suse 10.1, installer silently dies
I have a fresh install of Suse 10.1 and wine 9.21 and tried to install
roller coaster tycoon for some fun. However the installer quickly dies
silently. I've tried using different versions of wine with no succes.
The frustrating thing is that on different versions of Suse this
installed beautifully.
I've tried using winetools to set up my ~.wine, but still $wine

[LLVMdev] svn convert "issue"
Apparently Tanya and I got dropped from svn commit privs. That is now fixed.
The next issue is that John left his cvs convert script in his crontab (which I
just removed). As such, *all svn commits that happened since the switchover
have been lost*. Needless to say, this irritates me.
John, will you please reapply all lost commits? You can find the diffs here:

listen parm questions
Q1: My imap server has 4 interfaces, but only one is used for imap
traffic. Can I do this:
listen = 10.20.30.40:10143
(when imap.mycollege.edu is 10.20.30.40)
Or is there even any benefit to doing this?
Q2: Can I specify more than one port....during test eval, I've had the
IT dept using port 1043 for listen....which I will, of course, change to
143 when DC goes production. So my

anyone had success with roller coaster tycoon2 ?
I'm attempting to run Roller Coaster Tycoon2 under wine-20030508 per
these instructions:
http://appdb.winehq.com/appview.php?appId=265&versionId=1573
but i'm not having any luck. When i run "wine --dll dinput=n Rct2.exe"
it fails with the error:

Windows version to 'nt40' or 'win31'.
