RoR API Firefox search plugin
Hi,
Lately I''ve been visiting the RoR API site quite often, so I modified a
Firefox search plugin to make searches to it (with Google). So here I
post it in case someone finds it useful:

announcement: astfax 1.0
Greetings all!
astfax v1.0 has been released, and is now available at our website.
You can check out the package at http://www.inter7.com/?page=astfax
astfax allows you to create an email to fax gateway.
It processes incoming emails with attached fax images, and sends
them outbound via the txfax module. Asterisk's outgoing call queue is
used to initiate the fax call and transfer. The call

Comparison of two very large strings
Hi,
I have a function in R that compares two very large strings for about 1
million records.
The strings are very large URLs like:-
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/sitesearch_selector.html?query=US+Visa+Laws&type=nyt&x=25&y=8.
..
or of larger lengths.
The data-frame looks like:-

maildri++ quota
When is the maildir quota usages recalculated and written to the
second line of the "maildirsize" file?
I'm using 1.1.4, and I reset the quotas for my users by just taking
the first line of their maildirsize file and deleting the rest.

.times not behaving as I''d expect
I''m using prototype 1.4.0 in a big web application I''ve been working
on for months and today a bug was raised by one of our testers. After
investigation it turns out that something done 0 times will actually
fire once. So, for example, if I had
(0).times( function(i) { alert(i); } );
it''d fire once rather than not at all. Is this a bug in prototype or

fax soft client
I emailed this before but never got a reply, maybe there have been some
new technical developments.
I understand that the AMP/A@H now allows faxes to be received via a
software solution but I'm interested, is there a way to send faxes using
software? Maybe something like a SIP or IAX software client that can be
run on a XP pc to initiate the call to an asterisk server?
Cheers,

omega: $field{sample} clarification
I'm using omega for a sitesearch and currently having a problem trying
to filter $field(sample). At the moment it returns text from the page
header and navigation within the sample, ideally I'd like it to return
only the page content. I've been trying various omegascript commands to
trim the output or seperate the fields and also looking at scriptindex
to control how the xhtml is

Qmail+Vpopmail+Mysql+Dovecot 2.x (Notes on a successful conversion)
SoI had a hell of a time converting my qmail install to dovecot 2.0.5,
so I thought I'd pass on what I learned.
1. When using vpopmail, do not use " --disable-many-domains". If you
do, you'll need to recompile vpopmail without that setting and use the
script found at
http://qmailrocks.thibs.com/downloads/scripts/migrate-vpopmail-many-domains
to collapse the tables.

Effect.toggle error in 1.6.1
I have this line of code:
new Effect.toggle(document.getElementsByClassName(''modarea'',
Event.findElement(ev,''li'')), ''blind'');
I''ve confirmed that the Effect.toggle is indeed getting the proper element,
however, I''m getting this in my javascript console:
element.visible is not a function (effects.js: line 153)

(no answer)
I wish to perform brain surgery this afternoon at 4pm and don't know
where to start. My background is the history of great statistician
sports legends but I am willing to learn. I know there are courses and
numerous books on brain surgery but I don't have the time for those.
Please direct me to the appropriate HowTos, and be on standby for
solving any problem I may encounter while

Setting time on ADSI phones from Asterisk
Hi,
Would anyone know of a way to set the time automatically on an ADSI
capable phone from *?
The phone in question is a Aastra 480e.
While I am at it, does anyone have any helpful docs on the ADSI script
programming? I have managed to do basic functions by modifying the
asterisk.adsi file using stuff gleaned from the app_adsiprog.c file,
but docs would be really helpful at this point.

routing decisions
Hi,
I have Mandrake 10.0 gateway with internet via. ppp0. Also, another
machine 192.168.0.4 is always connected to net via. a dial-up
modem. Now I want to allow a machine (192.168.0.2) in my LAN to
access net through 192.168.0.4. So according to lartc howto I did,
# echo 200 John >> /etc/iproute2/rt_tables
# ip rule add from 192.168.0.2 table John
# ip route add default via 192.168.0.4 dev

load sharing
Hi,
I am taking my machine loaded with Mandrake 10.0 and Suse 9.1 to my
friend''s place. She has 2 different ISP providing pppoe connections
in her office. She has allowed me try load balancing on my machine on
Sunday. I just wanted to know does lartc stand good with pppoe? I
have heard conflicting opinions on the same. I do not want to patch
my kernel at all for it. Is it possible

Been learning * now for a couple of weeks and have all basic features
running including VM, MoH, FX lines, iaxtel, and FWD. However, I seem to be
lacking documentation on a lot of technical things and am wondering if I
overlooked something that is obvious to others. (I do have the Handbook,
have been doing a fair amount of google searches, and read the README.*
files.)
Examples,

OT: syncing
Hi,
An offtopic quesiton, but I could not think of asking any other list
where it might be answered.
I have a client uploading a few designs (25-30 Mbs) daily at a remote
ftp server. We download them in morning. Since we have a slow
connection we daily waste a couple of hours downloading it. Is there
any way I can download them at night. The only thing is that I am not
sure of the time they
