I never tried to use this feature until now, and noticed it isn't available to me according to the voice prompts. The documentation is a little vague on what is meant by 'context'..in voicemail.conf: sendvoicemail=yes ; Context to Send voicemail from [option 5 from the advanced menu] ; if not listed, sending messages from inside voicemail

re: Voicemail and Cisco Phones
On my 7905s I can configure a "voicemail" number, which in turn activates a "Messages" softkey. When pressed, it goes to that exten, which in turn is configured to go to VoiceMailMain. Great, works like a charm. However, the phones also have a "go to voicemail timeout" after which, the phone diverts the call to voicemail via a "temporarily moved". This

Overriding global voicemail options on a per-mailbox basis
All; I'm currently using Asterisk 1.8 and I want to be able to have each user be able to set as many of the voicemail options as possible. The documentation calls voicemail options that can be overridden on a per-mailbox basis "advanced options". However, I've read conflicting information as to which options in the section [general] can be overridden. According to

VoiceMailMain(@context) Problem with Option 5(Advanced)
I had the same problem yesterday. I thought it might have been a realtime problem. Guess not. Bloody annoying too. > -----Original Message----- > From: JR Richardson [mailto:jr.richardson@cox.net] > Sent: Tuesday, March 21, 2006 2:52 PM > To: asterisk-users@lists.digium.com > Subject: [Asterisk-Users] VoiceMailMain(@context) Problem with Option > 5(Advanced) > > > Hi

VoiceMailMain(@context) Problem with Option 5 (Advanced)
Hi All, The situation: When I dial into VoiceMailMain(@context), put in my VM # 1001 and Password 1001, no problem, but at the voicemail main audio prompt (Alison), when I ?press 3 for advanced options? then ?press 5 to leave a message? I put in a mailbox number 1002 within the same [context], but VoiceMailMain looks for the mailbox in the [default] context and will not recognize the mailbox I?m

Checking voicemail from outside
Hi all, I'm sure this is a stupid question, but is there a way to check your voicemail by calling your extension from the outside? When I call my own extension from outside and hit pound or star, it just stops my greeting and gives me the "beep". I'd like to call my extension and press a key and be prompted for my password. Otherwise the only way I can think to get around

VoiceMail Access
I was looking at the ILECs' web sites to determine how their users access voicemail. I looked at AT&T, Verizon, Qwest, and Embarq. They supported one or a combination of the following for calling from your phone: *98 #55 Toll free number Your number A varying phone number, based on your number's location. Calling from anywhere else, they supported: Hitting star when

Hi, I am using asterisk 1.2.1 for building an ippbx for my setup. I am having problem in accessing advanced options option that comes on pressing 5. It says to leave a msg and asks for extension. Now when i dial the extension the IVR silently goes into the top IVR menu. And the asterisk console show the message: "No entry for <EXTEN> in voicemail config file" As i

How to minimize the VoiceMail interface options?
Hello everyone, Sorry for sending so many questions to the list. I'm currently implementing a telephone system for kids and I wonder if it is possible to minimize the number of options presented by Asterisk's voicemail tool. For instance, my users do not need access to multiple folders, advanced settings, and the like. Any suggestions? Best, Leo

DTMF recognition inconsistent in Asterisk
Hello, I am experiencing a strange problem and I am wondering if anyone may have some pointers as to how to overcome it. I have an account with VoipTalk here in the UK which I have connected to my Asterisk server. VoipTalk supports IAX2 and SIP and I have connected to my Asterisk box using both methods. The problem is when I dial into my Asterisk box via my VoipTalk incoming PSTN phone

Voicemail not working with vm boxes named with a star
Hi list, in asterisk 1.4 and maybe earlier it was possible to use voicemail system with mailboxes starting with some special characters like *. The line in voicemail.conf was like this: *123 => , AB,,,tz=cet|attach=no| Calling exten => s,n,Voicemail(*123,su) is working in asterisk 1.4. In Asterisk 1.8 the above scenario is not working any more. The Voicemail application reports an

1.6.1 Voicemail users.conf
Hello, We recently upgraded our Asterisk box from 1.4 to 1.6.1. In both versions of voicemail you can press 3 for advanced options, 5 to leave a message and enter an extension to leave a voicemail. This feature worked fine under 1.4. Now under 1.6.1 all the prompts are the same but when you enter the extension it reads back the extension (or says the recorded name if present) then goes straight

Can one adjust the voicemail-menu when using VoiceMailMain() ?
Hello list. The VoiceMailMain()-application has an advanced menu. Can I get a Voicemail-application that has less functionality ? I only want the user to listen to new voicemail-messages (and delete them), not the functionality with the folders and redirecting messages to other mailboxes... I've looked at the code in /usr/src/asterisk-1.4.30/apps/app_voicemail.c but it seems complicated

Long term voicemail archival and synchronisationbetween multiple storage locations?
I guess I would not consider this an advanced application. I have something that will do this will all conversations, not just voicemails. Voicemail should be trivial.
