Asterisk from flash with dynamic voicemail enable/disable?
I would like to create a rock solid asterisk server that comes up no matter what. Ofcourse I can consider hardware raid1 but.... for the cost of a hardware raid controller I can also buy a 2GB compact flash card that doesn't produce any heat or noise and is friendly to the electricity bill and our environment :) 2GB is more than sufficient for a linux distro and an * installation but

samba>=3.0.4 - no more smbpasswd ? no more local auth whenjoined to domain ?
how about redirecting the smbpasswd file to the older version (assuming you have one) using smbpasswd file = /file/path/smbpasswd , I replaced my copy of smbpasswd for 3.09 with a 2.216 and the smbpasswd command stopped working, (no new entry added to the smbpasswd file), but when i used that it worked again "Izo" <I@siol.net> wrote in message news:41B8004E.8050807@siol.net...

Asterisk High-Capacity Stability
Thanks Alex, some great ideas. I think, however, I'm leaning towards Asterisk at this point- since I have quite a bit of experience there, and very little with SER. At this point, I'm wondering from a dimensioning standpoint, what kind of capacity my machine will have (Dual Core Xeon 2.4GHz 4GB RAM). As I said, I don't plan to do any transcoding. I read the voip-info page on

Case studies for Asterisk Voicemail
I'm planning an Asterisk Voicemail system of around 3000 users spread across several sites, each site connected by a fast network to a central site. We're considering 2 models: - Central Voicemail with VoIP calls from remote sites (easier to administer the system(s)). - Voicemail server at each site with shared database and NFS server at the central site (easier to connect to the

Sending DTMF after recording new voicemail
I'm trying to use Asterisk for its voicemail capabilities while interfacing with a legacy Toshiba PBX. Is there a way to have Asterisk send a DTMF code to an extension to turn on the message waiting indicator light? When a user leaves a voicemail, I want Asterisk to pick up one of the lines attached to it, and then dial #63<ext>, which is what sets the message waiting indicator light

Samba on top of Windows?
Hi all, I just bought a brand new PC for my living room (Asus eee Box) that happens to come with Windows 7. I can nicely plug in large USB hard drives, any my intention was to share these harddrives on the network, for example with my old Windows 98 PC on which I still run some favorite computer games. And of course, I would also like to access the large harddrive occasionally from my linux box
