How to get in touch with sixTel?
If anybody here is a sixTel customer, can you share any tips & tricks
for getting in touch with anybody there? They are absurdly hard to get a
hold of, particularly when you have a technical issue needing to be
resolved. If anyone has any phone numbers other than their main 800
line, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thank you,
Bryan

Asterisk 1.2.9 cli "-x" doesn't flush?
We have a script which executes "asterisk -n -r -x ....." periodically
against the running server, to check the status of a few things, and
pipe the output to a file.
With prior versions of Asterisk this worked fine, but having just
upgraded to 1.2.9, we are finding that if the output is lengthy, then
Asterisk seems to terminate before fully flushing stdout.
Is this a known bug, is

"Received packet with bad UDP checksum" - whats the real problem?
We have a customer trying to dial through our server, and our server is
throwing tons of these log messages:
Jul 27 14:21:02 NOTICE[29210]: rtp.c:431 ast_rtp_read: RTP: Received
packet with bad UDP checksum
Is it pretty certain, that these are caused by a bad or misconfigured
router along the path, or something else network-related? As opposed to
the SIP hardware itself? The SIP ATA is the same

Realtime SIP, multiple AX servers question
We have several Asterisk servers (1.6.2.15) all configured for Realtime, all backed by the same database. The Asterisk servers are all listed under DNS SRV records, and SIP ATAs find us this way.
Normally, no matter which Asterisk server an ATA connects to, we get our database fields filled out correctly, such as "regseconds", "lastms", "ipadr", etc. However, with

IAXy Hung, Power-cycle Required
I've got a single IAXy installed in a little office nearby and got a call
from someone on site a finew mintues ago. Apparently they couldn't make a
call on that extension. They'd pick up the phone and get nothing; no
dial-tone.
Running "iax2 show peers" showed the unit still registered and I could
ping it too. Didn't try to call it while it was doing this; sorry. The

Which means that you either don't have threads, or you join all threads
before main exits.
Is that the case?
Good for you if so!

difficulty setting up Samba PDC.. please help... out of ideas
I am trying to test a Samba PDC on our network that currently shares
files as a workgroup (with a different name, of course). Microsoft
states that this can be done, with no issues (so long as the workgroup
and the domain have different names). The permanent home for the shares
is on //receptionist. ( The temporary home for the Samba PDC is on
//haze. ) Once the PDC has been set up

[LLVMdev] Build/Install of LLVM without root access
I am using the source distribution, and the first puzzle is that it doesn't seem to match with the installation instructions from svn. E.g., svn talks about llvm, cfe, compiler-rt, etc; however, the source is in many differently named *.tar.gz files:
clang-3.4.src.tar.gz libcxx-3.4.src.tar.gz polly-3.4.src.tar.gz
clang-tools-extra-3.4.src.tar.gz lld-3.4.src.tar.gz

[LLVMdev] Build/Install of LLVM without root access
I must not be asking clearly. I have a machine on which I have placed the tarballs - but no internet access.
How do I use the *src.tar.gz files from the llvm 3.4 downloads page? I understand the layout produced by the svn actions, but if I have just the tarballs, do I simply replace "svn co" with "tar -xvzf" in the sequence? How do the names of the tarballs map to the names

"Invalid character 32" problem with Pager??
Hi all,
I'm having a very minor problem. Most every time I use the pager (I think) I
get the following error about character 32. It works fine, but the error is
a bit annoying.

Duplicate/No users in LDAP?

as I continued exploring Samba 3.0.4 as a PDC, I managed to get

I logged in as TheUserWithUID=0 ... and tried to add a user.

I've run into this. It's a real bear. I've found that a proper WINS
setup is very useful, but more important is to find out what is going
on during the wire transactions. Google the appropriate one of these
tools for your platform:
NM33_x64.exe
NM33_x86.exe
install it and see what's occuring during the transactions. Post

RFC2833 & firewall problems? (16-byte UDP packets)
We are tracking the following situation:
SIP client connects to our Asterisk server, and then connects to another
SIP user. Re-invite is OFF, so Asterisk is in the middle of the whole
conversation.
When one SIP client sends DTMF tones, the SIP client uses RFC2833 to
send the tones to the server. (This is correct). The server then sends
RFC2833 tones out to the other SIP client.
The problem is,

security=server, port 445 and winnt
Hi folks,
I'm running several samba servers that use "security=
server" and "password server" to point authentications to a
WinNT pdc. Snooping at the network traffic, I find that
the samba server initially tries to connect to the WinNT
server through port 445 (which fails), then reverts to 139
(which succeeds). I know it's possible to use the

Where are usages like "== 2L" documented?
Gurus:
I keep seeing other people?s code that contain ideas like
If (x == 2L)
X[-1L]
X - 1L
I have some idea of what?s going on, but where is the use of concepts like
?2L? documented?
Thanks, Bryan

R in Linux Redhat 9.0
Hi, my name is Bryan and I just installed R on my Redhat 9.0. I
imported the key from the net as directed, and tested the integreity
of the rpm package- it was fine. I then went ahead and installed the
i386.rpm package and the installation was carried to completion.
However, now I have a hard time finding and opening R, which I just
installed. Does someone know what's going on? I'm a

Permission errors when creating/reading files in users' mail directories
Hi folks,
I'm trying to migrate an old uw-imap server to dovecot,
and running into puzzling (to me) permission problems. I've
configured mail_location as follows:
mail_location = mbox:~/mail:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%u
and each user's mail directory has permissions like this:
drwx------ 2 uid gid 4096 Jul 5 09:26 /home/uid/mail
But when I try to check a user's mail using
