7912G via SIP, looking for comments
Hello, I'm looking for any comments or user experiences from anyone who is using 7912G phones with SIP. Any installation issues? Usability problems? Do the features seem to work, etc...In short, I'm looking for your opinions on how suitable this phone is for an asterisk implementation for approx. 10 users. Next logical question: what other phones would you recommend for a situation

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series. The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here. For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the chan_sccp to

Kirk SIP-DECT gateway
Hi, I just got some interesting information from Kirk Telecom (www.kirktelecom.com). This company has been in the business of providing DECT solutions (IP gateway, base stations, repeaters and handsets) either to be used with Cisco CallManager (SCCP protocol) or with the Innovaphone IP PBX system (H.323). Two important elements: 1. It seems they foresee a SIP version of their product in Q1

7912G SCCP only?
Mmm...I swear I read somehwere that the 7912G did SIP? Cisco lists it as an SCCP only phone? -- Undocumented Features quote of the moment... "It's not the one bullet with your name on it that you have to worry about; it's the twenty thousand-odd rounds labeled `occupant.'" --Murphy's Laws of Combat

Asterisk and Cisco 7905G or Cisco 7912G
Hi, How well to the Cisco 7905G or Cisco 7912G phone work with Asterisk? Cisco claims both phones do SIP. I was strongly considering Polycom phones. However, it appears to be quite difficult to obtain support or firmware for Polycom phones. On the other hand, I find Cisco is very well supported. Thanks, Adi

NEWS: SIP Firmware Available for Cisco 7970
I've just recieved a copy of the new SIP firmware for the Cisco 7970, those of you with Cisco accounts may wish to try it (shock horror I'm sticking with SCCP). This coincides with the release of v8 firmware for all Cisco phones (and for those of you running Sergio's chan_sccp v8 works fine) The firmware is now also (and for the 7970 SIP, only) distributed in ".cop" files,

Cisco 7912G DST
Hi, a small question.. I'm using NTP to synch our phones with an ntp server, but it seems the Cisco 7912G (with SIP image) does not handle daylight savings time very well? Am I overlooking something or is this a known feature? I'm using GMT+1 and minutes are correct but it doesn't respect DST. SIP software seems to be: v1.02.00(040406A). Cheers, Kristof.

Cisco 7912 Phones & XML
Friends, http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Cisco+7905%252F7912+IP+Phones states under "SIP Software Limitations" that XML is not supported on this phone. However, my tech data summary of this product states: "In addition, XML applications deliver impressive applications and network data to the Cisco IP Phone 7912G display." Can someone please clear this up for me?

Cisco 7940/7960 SIP functionality questions
Hello, I'm considering using Asterisk with some type of Cisco phone, and currently considering either the 7940 or 7960 because of its more-complete functionality (compared to the 7905). I'm currently wondering: Do all the expected functions (transfer, conference, voice mail, message waiting indicator, etc.) work normally with Asterisk over SIP? What caveats are known about using

Cisco 7912G SIP phone and Asterisk double RTP packets
Hi there, i did some tests with two Cisco 7912G phones (SIP stack) yesterday. With both ethereal and tcpdump listening on the Asterisk-Server's NIC, it came up that all RTP packets were doubled, with some small but almost constant delay (~460 us). The setup is 7912G <--> ASTERISK <--> 7912G The tcpdump output shows RTP traffic ASTERISK --> 7912G: 000000 IP $ASTERISK.17944

SCCP questions
Hi! I have two, not too related questions: - the probably simpler one: if anyone can help me out using a Cisco 7905G with chan_sccp? I did already managed to get it working with a SIP image, I'd just like to see it work with this one as well. It's probably something I screw up with the configuration, as the phone registers, only I don't get any lines with it, although I have it

7960 Cisco SIP Phone TFTP Files
Hi all (is a bit of a Cisco question, but perhaps it's already been asked here). I'm trying to setup a TFTP server for dynamic configuration of my 7960 Cisco phones. Cisco docs suggest I download the following files from their web site: * OS79XX.TXT * SIPDefaultGeneric.cnf * SIPConfigGeneric.cnf * RINGLIST.DAT * P0S3xxyy.bin * P0S3-xx-y-zz.bin * dialplan.xml * syncinfo.xml I only

Cisco 7960 and Asterisk...not working...
Chuck, The first thing I would do is to upgrade the load to version 6 or higher. I'm running the latest...version 7.2. (I'm very happy with it) Are you using TFTP to load the configuration or manually configuring the 7960? I know it's a pain to setup TFTP just for a quick test. However, it's well worth it. If you have a CCO account you can find the latest load and config files

7960 SIP 7.2 keypress (not DTMF) problem
Since upgrading to 7.2, I've noticed a random problem where I dial a number and hear all the correct tones in the handset, but the display won't show all the numbers I dialed. So you sit there waiting for the dialplan to kick the call off (b/c you heard the proper amount of tones played and think it's all good) but the phone is just sitting there b/c it somehow "missed"

E1 card for Asterisk
Hello Folks, I'm trying to decide here between a few cards for connecting an Asterisk box to a single E1 channel (either PRI or R2 signaling): - Digium E100P: has been replaced by the TE110P below, but can still be had at places like digitnetworks.com for $475, and I guess there's always a place for good-olde-obsolete cards in the world as long as they work :-) - Digium TE110P:

IAX Trunking capacity enforcement
Hello, I am trying to come up with a good way to enforce a limit on the number of simultaneous calls that can occupy an IAX trunk at any given time. I have searched around and so far can't locate a config option that would directly label a IAX trunk with a specific number to obey (is there one?). Based on examples for the SetGroup and CheckGroup commands, I am thinking of using SetGroup
