Echo
I used to get bad echo and also voice breaking up during a conversation, so
I upgraded the machine (from a PII 300 to a Athlon 1.8GHz) and have resolved
the voice breaking up issues but still seem to have a fairly bad echo on
*both* sides of the conversation.
Currently I am only using the system for outbound calls, so I am always
calling from the digium USB port phone and out to the telco using a

TDM2400 Hardware Echo Cancel
Good Day List,
I'm having some issues with echo cancel on my Asterisk box, and have
done
extensive reading and have gained some useful pointers from this list
but have a couple of hopefully fairly simple questions.
The Asterisk box is connected via 20 FXO ports on a TDM2400 with the
Hardware echo cancel module. Echo cancel almost works, but the users

Echo cancellation
Hi Everybody,
Got a weird problem here I think. Got a setup with an asterisk (current
from cvs as of a few hours ago) in a box with an el-cheapo ISDN BRI card
connected to the PSTN network and two Snom phones internally (one Snom-100
and one Snom-200). Dialing between the snom phones or dialing out to PSTN
from any of the snom phones works perfectly.
But when I receive a call FROM the PSTN

Echo on Zaptel FXO :(
Hi All,
I've got an MD3200 modem which is working as a Zaptel FXO interface for
Asterisk (X100P clone I believe). It seems to work, but on incoming or
outgoing calls I can hear the other party ok but when I speak, I hear
my voice echo back at me (quite quietly but it's distracting!) on
everything I say. The other party doesn't seem to hear the echo - they
just say I sound a bit quiet.

Some echo?
I have a 12 channel PRI with SNOM 190's and asterisk CVS from January.
Most calls are fine, all incoming calls are fine, but I am getting
echo on a significant number of outgoing calls.
The person on the other side hears a perfect call, but the SIPphone
side gets to hear themselves.
It happens 100% of the time to some numbers (outgoing only), and only
sporadically to others.
Has anyone

Channelized T1, SIP phones, HW Echo Canceller
I have a channelized T1 coming in from our telco, terminated onto a TE405.
There are three channelbanks serving internal analog extensions, and about
10 Cisco 7960s.
I have no reports of echo on the analog extensions (as expected). The
7960 users complain of occasional echo (seems like 1 in 5 calls). Only
the SIP user hears the echo, not the caller.
I have echocancel=yes, echotraining=yes,

YET Another echo issue PRI CARD Any help accepted :-)
Good Day all,
I have a Fractional PRI connected to my Asterisk Box via a T100P
card.
When I initiate a call out to phone number 123-8888 the call
sounds great no echo what so ever.
If the person at 123-8888 hangs up and calls me right back (same
handset on both sides) same trunk line
The call always has echo on it. The Asterisk sip extension
hears them selves echoing. The remote party

TDM400P not answering or making calls
Hello,
I have recently purchased a TDM400P card with one FXO expansion card,
and I'm having problems.
The card does not pick up incoming calls. Asterisk detects the ringing
line and rings various SIP phones as required. When a sip phone
answers, the sip user hears nothing and the PSTN user continues to
hear ringing. Here is the asterisk output for an incoming call:

PSTN->voip/sip echo
I'm still relatively a novice with asterisk and am having issues with echo.
The calling party that calls a PSTN number doesnt hear the echo, but the
answered
side via sip or forwarded to another PSTN number over voip hears
excessive echo that
makes it difficult to communicate.
I've been playing with the zapata.conf settings for echocancel,
echotraining, rxgain, txgain, etc
and am

IAX FXS.. Any experience with...
http://www.x100p.com/products_2.htm
Anyone ever use this box? How's it compare with the Iaxy? I'd like to
buy one or the other.. The Iaxy is appealing because to me, it seems
less "no name", but this one says that it supports using hostnames,
whereas apparently the iaxy only supports IP addresses?? That's
appealing to the dynamic DNS guy in me! :-)

Echo for first 15 to 20 seconds
I am using asterisk with a handful of DM04B cards. Everything seems fine except for an echo on all calls on the local end of the call. In almost all cases the echo goes away after 15 to 20 seconds. I am attributing the echo going away to the echo cancellation code that was enabled when the following options are set:
echocancel=yes ;
echocancelwhenbridged=yes
echotraining=yes ;
Is there anyway

slight echo via sip provider
When we make calls out of asterisk to the PSTN via a SIP termination
service provider the called party gets a slight echo of their voice.
Here is the setup; analog phone <> Linksys ata <> asterisk <> sip
provider sonus GSX 9000 <> PSTN <> called party.
The caller on the analog phone connected to the ATA hears no echo at
all.
The called party has a slight

TDM2400P with echo canceller not working
Hi,
I have a box with Debian Sarge, Asterisk 1.2.1 (and zaptel 1.2.1) and a
TDM2400P with echo canceller. I installed the card but no echo
cancellation is being made...seems like the echo canceller module does
not work, infact the software cancellation is working.
My zapata.conf has echocancel = 128 and echocancelwhenbridged = yes but
no echotraining parameter which gives a warning.

Question on echo's for Canadian Asterisk users ...
Has anyone has issues with echo using a Wildcard with a PRI from a
major Canadian Telco? (Bell, Telus, AllStream, Sprint, Group Telecom).
We are using a T1 from GT that is giving use annoying echos whenever a
SIP/IAX2 client calls a
local analog line. Calling cells phones is no issue since its digital.
Regardless, there should
be no issue with echo on a PRI at all.
NOC at GT is telling us

Help! Echo problem even at T1 PRI?
Hello,
We have an asterisk setup at our client's site using a TE205P. The line to
telco is a 23 channels T1 PRI, however the line has random echo problems
(about 5-10% of the calls)!
Can anybody tell me if echo cancellation is really needed even at a T1 PRI
to the telco? Because people keep saying when they deploy voip solution in
Hong Kong using T1 PRI, there is no need of echo cancellation.

Outgoing FXO calls have no audio with callprogress=no
My outgoing FXO calls are answered but have no audio in either direction
if I have callprogress=no in chan_dahdi.conf. If I change to
callprogress=yes then the audio returns. My chan_dahdi.conf file is
listed below. Can anyone point-out why callprogress=no isn't working?

IAXy echo avoidance/cancellation
Ok, I searched the lists and found no definitive answer. I'm assuming
the IAXy has some primitive form of echo cancel, is there anyway to
adjust this? Or any ideas on what to do instead. Here's the setup, this
will not be a typical setup for our company however, well whatever.
Anyway it looks like this:
IAXy --> Netgear router --> Charter --> Level3 --> Asterisk --> VOIP or

Fun with Echo
I've spent the last week or so troubleshooting echo problems at my
Wife's business, and I've been able to clear up about 99% of the
echo, but there is still a little residual echo that I can't seem to
"tweak out". The users describe it as "buzzing or crackling", but
what it sounds like to me is a slight echo, but just of one syllable
of the word.

TDM
The TDM01B is 4 port capable but has only 1 FXO module. I'm running asterisk
1.2.7 and zaptel 1.2.5. I cannot seem to get the TDM01B working. When I do
the zttool it shows 4/1/0. I can dial out from a POTS phone up to the point
that the cable plugs into the card.
