Converting 7905G to SIP
I am trying to convert my 7905G to be SIP based and seem to be running into a few hassles. Below are all the config files and logs from the server. I have tried to follow the pdf's from cisco and some posts from other mailing lists that google turnedup, but it seems that nothing is working. Am I somehow missing a fundamental step in trying to upgrade from Call Manager to SIP? Any help is

Dear All, I'm trying to configure my new phone Cisco 7960 to work with asterisk. I followed http://www.asteriskguru.com/tutorials/cisco_7960_ip_phone_configuration.html and I got into the point where I can see on the the display line indication showing "55 <phone icon with x>" so it looks like the phone is not registered. I can also make outbound calls via IAXTel (toll-free calls only) and all other calls I have routed out my X100P-clone adapter. Here's my question... SetCIDName question
Hi all, I tried to set the calleridname of an incoming call to get different incoming labels displayed for different incoming numbers. This does work for hidden number-calls so I can set the displayed CIDName on my cisco7960 from "CID withheld" to "abc CID withheld" If the incoming CID isn't hidden it works to use SetCallerID but not to change only the CIDName with

Double-ring tone
I upgraded my Cisco7960 to SIP 8-2 from 7-4. Everything seems ok, works fine. Except that when I make an outbound call, I get a double-ring sound. I also found that if the target number is engaged, I get a ring sound and at the same time get a busy sound. If I revert back to 7-4, there is no problem. Anyone else had this, or any clues on how to fix it ? All of our other phones are still on

chan_sccp/SEP<mac>.cnf.xml
HI all: I have spent a large amount of time configuring/installing phones connected to Asterisk. Halfway through the process I discovered that my Cisco7960 with 2 7914 expansions was not supported in the SIP protocol. After reverting to SCCP 6.0(4.0) I am now perplexed with the hassle of configuring SCCP to properly work with Asterisk. So far I have gotten the phone to dial and receive calls

defaultip= in sip.conf doesnt work?
I have several (various brand) sip devices with static IP's. I understand that asterisk will not accept a registration from these devices if the host= parameter is not set to 'dynamic' in sip.conf. I want calls to these extensions to be routable even before the device registers. I understand that is what defaultip= is supposed to do, but it doesn't work. I get a busy tone when

Again Asterisk and VMWare - it works now!
Hi, I have succeed using Asterisk on VMWare on an Athlon@1GB with 128 MB allocated for the Linux virtual machine. I have connected this PBX with another one using IAX/GSM. I can call the other part and the sound is great, without any interruption. The phone used is a Cisco7960 with G.711, so still a codec conversion is in place (GSM/G.711) and Asterisk/VMWare Wkst performs very well. The problem

Speeding up Transfers of 1000s of files
Hi all, I have to transfer thousands of files across my network. We are looking at using rsync via a squid proxy to help improve the network tuning. What I am witnessing now is that with each successive file, the transfer speed resets to 0 and ramps up to 2.5MB/s. Is there anyway that I can group these transfers together to take better advantage of our bandwidth? I should be able to peak at

Proper Contexts in extensions.conf
Hi all, I am looking for examples of the extensions.conf that puts all incoming calls into a context where extensions can be dials, and all phones in a context where extensions and outside calls can be dialed. i.e. I have seen: [incoming] include => sip-extensions [sip-extensions] include => longdistance [longdistance] .... Doesn't this allow any internal callers to make external

Advanced Cisco 7960 Config
Hi all, I have a working (it was a pain) set of Cisco 7960 phones. In order to dial I have to either pick up the handset or select the line and then dial the extension or outside line. How do I configure the dialplan so I can: - Start dialing via the keypad and have the phone automatically go to speaker on the first line? - Give the user dialtone after they dial '9'? A while ago I

79xx 7-4
Anyone try the new Cisco firmware for the 79xx sip phones? In my test it seems to work fine for a little and than soon the phone looses its time. At first the status shows clear, and then it appears to get confused about the ntp time source and the time goes away on it. No features, just bug fixes. Perhaps I have something wrong with my ntp settings, but the other firmwares work just fine. --

Asterisk Follow ME
Hi All. I have notice a problem with FM feature (screen macros) on Asterisk CVS version. When call goes via IAX and calling part "accept the call" on Dial command with option M, in macros context it's setting MACRO_RESULT=CONTINUE, but anyway it hangups both channels. If anyone faced with such problem please let me know. I need to know whether it's bug or just configuration

Polycom vs. Cisco IP Phones
Hi all, I am working on building a new VoIP PBX. Looking at the current market for phones it seems my best "enterprise" options are the Cisco and Polycom phones. I have some experiance with the Cisco 7940G, but the process of flashing the phone with the SIP firmware left a bad taste in my mouth (not to mention the added expense for the phone). What is the general consensis about
