voip encryption options
I've looked around briefly for what options are available for
encrypting the media stream using asterisk. I did not see any SRTP
support, and it looks like there is some initial work on iax2
encryption, but whether it works is still open for question I guess.
I'm also curious of other solutions that could be bolted onto the
front end of asterisk to provide encryption, and are there

is encrypted iax safe and secure?
Hello,
I'm doing some research concerning iax encryption, I haven't find any
clients (softphones or hardphones) which implement so I have not tested
it yet.
There was also this message on asterisk-security mailing list
http://archives.free.net.ph/message/20070507.101933.222987b2.en.html
which got no answers and this makes me think that this iax encryption is
not much interesting for the

TDM400 problem
I recently swapped 2 FXO modules on to what had previously been a 4 FXS
version of the TDM400 board. The FXS ports are recognized - the FXO
ports don't appear to be recognized (ie modprobe wcfxo and ztcfg both
say channel 1 isn't there). Has anyone experienced this problem? All
software is current as of this AM. If the old FXS modules are
re-installed all works just dandy (other than

IAX Encryption
I am playing around with IAX encryption and have had good success.
I read somewhere, that trunked packets are not encrypted. Does
anybody know if this means the trunk packets themselves are not
encrypted but the voice frames in them are encrypted or does this
mean that if you are using trunking then encryption of the voice
frames will not occur. I have used Wireshark to sniff the packets
and it

PHP Web interface for Asterisk

post a link to it tomorrow morning... as soon as I can get it off my
production server HEHE.... it can do CRC checks on the *.cnf files
and it will allow you to edit and parse out for you all your config
entries with complex cnf files and default sample

Voice Encryption
Hi,
Does Asterisk support encryption of voice traffic? I found following wiki
that describes IAX RSA authentication. I was able to implement the
public/private key authentication among three Asterisk servers connected
using IAX protocol. I am not certain if voice traffic can also be encrypted
among the Asterisk servers. Your help is highly appreciated.

[new user] VPN or NAT? (and a FAQ)
I live in Tennessee, USA, and work 1000km away in Texas. Thanks to the
wonders of broadband I never leave home (well, not for WORK, that is.
:) I'm setting up an Asterisk system whereby I'll have an extension in
Texas, so clients can reach me at a local telephone number.
We have a VPN set up already (OpenVPN, which I highly recommend to
anyone needing such a thing.) It does

Sipura 3000 inbound FXO problem
I have a Sipura 3000, apparently configured correctly, when incoming
calls arrive on the telco port they arrive properly on the Asterisk
system - however they don't get routed properly. The Asterisk message:

FCC Rules VoIP Must Be Tappable
http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/08/04/2212251&tid=158&tid=95&tid=103
Probably some of you already saw this.
Now, beyond discussions regarding the legitimacy of such a ruling
(whether they have the legal, moral or whatever right to enforce it),
there's the technical aspect.
Suppose i provide VoIP services using Asterisk, and i fall under the
incidence of the FCC ruling

Modem and Fax over VoIP
Hello,
I have the fowling scenario:
fxs[asterisk1]-----iax-----[asterisk2]e1----e&m---PSTN
I want to know the steps to transmit fax from a machine connected to the fxs to a fax machine on the PSTN. The same for dial-up's.
Is it possible only with a/ulaw ?
What configs I need in asterisk1?
Thanks in advance

Bellster - cool :-)
OK, I have done all the stuff at my end and at Bellsters end to add 21
new area codes (all of california) to the Bellster dial plan. Pretty
cool deal! I hope others go for this quickly - as it could be a really
nice co-op.
I do suggest to Jeff - do some sort of calling trunk -vs- routed trunk
match to make sure that someone can't run their credits sky-high by
making calls through

Grandstream Budgetone 100 Caller ID shows extension, not incoming Caller ID
I've looked through the archives - and see questions similar to mine,
but no answers. What, if anything, can be done to get the incoming
Caller ID to be presented on the Budgetone's Caller ID display? In all
other respects the phone+Asterisk seem to be extremely happy with each
other.

iax encryption
Hi All,
I was wondering if there is any way to encrypt IAX traffic? I am aware
of the ability to use md5 or RSA for authentication, but I'm talking
about the packets themselves, after authorization has already
occured...
Forgive me if this is documented somewhere, but I all I could find
online was a presentation with the statement "there has been talk of
adding encryption to the IAX

X100P in a soekris 4801
Hi All,
I have a Soekris 4801 running Asterisk and I tried to add a X100P FXO
card only to find that the Soekris will not boot with the card
installed. The LEDs flash for a second and then nothing, it does not
boot. I've tried 2 different X100p cards, both of which work in a
regular desktop system, and still have no luck. I tried a different
Soekris 4801 with no luck. I've also tried a
