ADPCM codec and IAXy device
Hi All; I need to buy one IAXy device, but I discovered that it supports only g711 and ADPCM codec, so I was wonder that it does not support g729 or GSM?! Anyway, what is that ADPCM and how much it consumes bandwitdh? Also, asterisk support such codec? What its name in the configuration? Any advise? Regards Bilal

IAXy and ADPCM codec problem
Hi everyone, I'm using the IAXy boxes and i'm having some trouble when I use it with the ADPCM codec. When I use the ADPCM codec only one person (out of the two of the conversation) is able to hear the other, but when I switch to ULAW codec everybody can hear the other. The ULAW codec is too heavy for my bandwidth (64Kbits/s) and its sounds choppy, the ADPCM codec sounds good but only

IAXy - no dailtone
I have a brand new IAXy I'm playing with. I do not get a dialtone on the phone, or any response at ll on the phone. No sound, no dialing, no ringing. The phone and wire are tested and known to be good. I think I have it setup correctly. When I give the iaxprov command I get this: #iaxyprov 192.168.1.90 iaxy.conf 02: c0 a8 01 5a 05: 11 d9 03: ff ff ff 00 04:

IAXy and bandwidth requirements
In the mailing list archives, I found a message that indicates that the IAXy has the ulaw, alaw, and g726 codecs, but I cannot find anything official on Digium's site about it. The Installation Manual has an example iax.conf file that indicates the ulaw codec, so I know that one is good. But we are thinking about using the IAXy over a VPN, to replace our MultiVoip. alaw and ulaw are

IAXY codec support and questions..
Hi.. I have to setup an extension in a remote location that will use a cordless analog telephone.. I am looking at the IAXY to do this for me..Basically the data path will be as follows... [Asterisk] == (NAT) == {Internet} == (NAT) == ATA -- Handset Since there are two NAT boxes in the path I know SIP won't work.. I also don't want to move the Asterisk box to the internet side of the

IAXy's apparantly failing in the field
I am not sure if this is the place for Digium user-to-user discussion, but... We have deployed many (20+) IAXy's in the field. At a couple of locations, the IAXy's have just stopped working after 1 or 2 days use. No lights go on, no DHCP lease is renewed as far as we can tell, and of course no dialtone and no registration with the server. Has anyone else experienced high failure rate

IAXy and hook flash transfer
In features.conf, I have uncommented the transfer features under feature map, but I still cannot transfer using a POTS phone on an IAXy adapter. I think I am missing something here.... Any help is appreciated. Here is features.conf: ; ; Sample Parking configuration ; [general] parkext => 700 ; What extension to dial to park parkpos => 701-720 ;

IAXy
Not sure if this is the best place but does any one have any used IAXy's they are interested in selling? I am looking to pick one up cheap for a proof of concept before going all out on them. Also does any one have any real life practical experience with how well (or not so well) that these devices have worked for them? you can reply to me off list at asterisk@matraex.com Thanks Michael

Finding iaxy's (iaxies?)
According to http://kb.digium.com/entry/12/ The Iaxy will respond to pings on port 9999. You can ping your broadcast IP on your network and listen with tcpdump on your network on port 9999 which will show the Iaxy responding and what IP address it is coming from. Ex. ping 192.168.1.255 tcpdump -i eth0 udp port 9999" Before I get my karma whacked again, does this work for

Strategy for a stable IAXy
I've heard comments about the instability of the IAXy (loosing IP, locking up, etc) . I want to deploy some, in a remote site. The comments on the instability suggest that the simplest approach is to power-cycle them when you have problems. The IAXy would only be in use from 3PM to 8 PM. My potential simple solution is to have a timed power brick (like what you would use for a block heater)

No ringing tone with IAXY (and other bits and bobs)
Hi! I'm really hope you can help me solve a little mystery, the mystery is probably just my misunderstanding ! sorry... I've got an iaxy talking to my * box which connects to two providers. I'm running the stable release of the pbx. The only thing is that when dialling from the iaxy the ringing tone isn't heard while calling someone - you just hear silence then, they either

IAXy and DHCP
Hi, I've got an IAXy, and provided it with connection data - unfortunately didn't provide a fixed ip address, but left with dhcp. Everthing went fine, and I could work a while with it. After a restart of IAXy, it didn't negotiate a new IP address, nor used the old one. I even restarted the DHCP server and cleared its cache. No success. I went to another office with a different

DTMF over IAX
Ok sorry for not being specific. I am having a problem when people outside call in to my number which terminates at VoicePluse then The send IAX to me and I do not get any tones. People press buttons but it just goes to the next dialplan fall through. It happens 60-70% of the time. extentions.conf [general] static=yes writeprotect=no autofallthrough=yes clearglobalvars=no priorityjumping=no

IAXy - anyone using them yet?
I haven't seen much activity on the list concerning Digium's IAXy standalone FXS device. Are they worth $100 ? Do they integrate well with * as an extension's FXS ?

Look at that Digium Broadband Modem!
Or: "An IAXy by any other name is still an IAXy" http://nextalarm.com/abn.jsp These folks are selling alarm supervision for us phone-line impaired folks. What's scary about this is that we probably need to install a fire/smoke detector with the IAXy ;-) IAXy users on this list -- who of you would trust their home/business security to an IAXy? Is there a silent majority who loves

IAXY DNS possibilities??
There is no DNS functionality built into the IAXY, I am assuming you want to be able to home onto a SOHO site with a dynamic IPaddress. I have not been able to figure out a clean way to do theis (make it easy for the roaming sales-folk etc,) who will not have a high tolerance for running something like an IAXYPROV. You would need to somehow have an external fixed address which would

iaxy to iaxy call drops out of "show channels"
I place a call from an IAXY to an IAXY device. INitially the calls show in the output of "show channels". Then after a few seconds the "show channels" command shows 0 active channels even though I am still talking on the channels. Any ideas on this? THanks, Jerry

IAXy echo avoidance/cancellation
Ok, I searched the lists and found no definitive answer. I'm assuming the IAXy has some primitive form of echo cancel, is there anyway to adjust this? Or any ideas on what to do instead. Here's the setup, this will not be a typical setup for our company however, well whatever. Anyway it looks like this: IAXy --> Netgear router --> Charter --> Level3 --> Asterisk --> VOIP or
