Handsfree Speakerphone
Hi, What is out there in terms of SIP enabled handsfree speakerphones? Looking for something that works well and also fits a low budget. I am used to using a Cisco 7940. It is a great phone but a bit expensive. Thought about the Polycom SoundPoint 300 until I realized that it does not include speakerphone functionality. Thanks, Adi

Voicemail and Zapatel
My PSTN line doesn't allways hang up properly after it goes to voicemail. The problem occurs when a caller hangs up during the initial greeting. Even though the hangup accured, voicemail continues to record, usually a fast busy and/or a teleco generated "please hangup now" message. After the voicemail.conf 'maxmessage=180' expires the line simply stays offhook. The hardware

7912G: Takes the same firmware as 7940/60?
Does anyone know if the 7912G (which the wiki says can do either sccp or sip) uses the 7940/60 sip firmware? I ask this because the only firmware I can seem to find on TAC for the 7912G is sccp, no sip...if it takes it's own firmware and doesn't use 7940/60 firmware, can someone point me to the right location for it? Providers for PSTN Access
Hi, I've been looking at the various SIP VoIP service providers and their plans. I understand that Asterisk can be configured as a SIP client to access, for example, a BroadVoice account to access the PSTN and discount LD. I see that a lot of the features provided by SIP VoIP service providers are really not needed since Asterisk will provide them locally. I have no plans on dropping my

Cisco ATA186 and Asterisk dialplan
Hi all, I have a Cisco ATA186 connected to an Asterisk Server (SIP) The dialplan uses 1XX for local extensions and XXXXXXX for external numbers, where the first digit is always different than 1. In this moment, when I dial 123 for example, ATA waits till timeout before dialing that number. The same for the longer one. How can I do to make it dial imediately when 3 digits starting with 1 are

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series. The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here. For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the chan_sccp to

I recently got a 7905G w/ Sip software preloaded. I got it working w/ asterisk with no problem setting it up through the phone. I am now trying to make it download the config file from the tftp server. I have set all of the options in the file and the file is definately named correctly. But the phone is simply not processing the config file for some reason. Two commands Im trying to get

Is anyone using Cisco 7905G phones?
I have a few Cisco 7905G phones and I having a little trouble configuring them. They are working with Asterisk. I'm able to get the sip image loaded, but I can't get the phones to blind transfer. Does the Cisco 7905G Phone use XML Services? If you are using the 7905G phone, would you post any of your configuration files so I can try and figure out where I'm going wrong? Thanks for

Cisco 7905G SIP firmware needed
To get the SIP firmware for these phones, you need to buy a Cisco SmartNet support contract (about $75 USD in the USA, though I've heard rumors a Europe-only contract exists for about $10 USD.) You can purchase one through most Cisco resellers. That will give you access to Cisco's download site. Configuration of these phones under SIP is not quite as straight forward as it is with SCCP,

Cisco 7905G vs ATA186
Hi All, I'm looking at getting some Cisco VoIP hardware to play with in combination with a Asterisk server. I've heard that there is beta software available to do SIP on the 7905G. So, I'm thinking of either getting a 7905G or a ATA186. My dillema is, which one to buy? I can get both for about the same price, has anyone had any experience with using a 7905G with Asterisk? On

7912G SCCP only?
Mmm...I swear I read somehwere that the 7912G did SIP? Cisco lists it as an SCCP only phone? -- Undocumented Features quote of the moment... "It's not the one bullet with your name on it that you have to worry about; it's the twenty thousand-odd rounds labeled `occupant.'" --Murphy's Laws of Combat

I would highly appreciate if somone could post

Cisco 7912G DST
Hi, a small question.. I'm using NTP to synch our phones with an ntp server, but it seems the Cisco 7912G (with SIP image) does not handle daylight savings time very well? Am I overlooking something or is this a known feature? I'm using GMT+1 and minutes are correct but it doesn't respect DST. SIP software seems to be: v1.02.00(040406A). Cheers, Kristof.

Advanced Cisco 7960 Config
Hi all, I have a working (it was a pain) set of Cisco 7960 phones. In order to dial I have to either pick up the handset or select the line and then dial the extension or outside line. How do I configure the dialplan so I can: - Start dialing via the keypad and have the phone automatically go to speaker on the first line? - Give the user dialtone after they dial '9'? A while ago I

Cisco 7905G Firmware
I have had a 7905G lying around for the past 8 months and have just had time to start setting it up with asterisk. I started following the links on the wiki about where to download the firmware from cisco. I signed up to cisco so I could apparently download the new firmware for the phone, but it now seems I must purchase a support contract. Is this correct? Is there any other way to get the
