softphone headsets
Anybody have a suggestion for a nice inexpensive headset for mobile
users on a laptop with a softphone?
What are people using for softphones on M$ platforms? I have been using
the x-lite client. Is there something better out there?

Echo with two IP phones through Asterisk using SIP
I have Asterisk running on my LAN with softphone clients (SJPhone) and Cisco
7940/60s, all using SIP. I also have a few remote sites connecting to my
Asterisk server. I am getting an echo back of my voice when talking with
one particular site. The caller does not hear an echo on their end. All
calls on the LAN or to other sites do not produce an echo. When the caller
places his SJPhone on

X-Lite Softphone
Hey Everyone,
I downloaded and installed the X-Lite softphone the other day (the lite
version) and cannot seem to get it to work well.
Don't get me wrong, it registers with my asterisk server and everything
seems to work well, except the call quality really is horrible.
I thought it may be the place I was trying it at (DSL) so I took it to
the office and tried it right next to the asterisk

Really Wierd softphone problem ... must read
Hey guys,
I have just developed this problem with my Windows XP box. I think it
started since I installed XP SP2. Both SJPhone and Xlite does some
kind of bridging with the speaker out port. When ever I make a sip call to
where ever, the other party hears a lot of echoing. Well I noticed just
now when I was playing mp3's via Winamp, the music was being played
through my sip calls that I

"403 Forbidden" between two softphones on same Asterisk
Hi,
I have two softphones connected to an Asterisk "stable". I have two
extensions, say 1000 and 2000. When 1000 calls 2000, the call cannot be
completed; the softphone (either Diax97a , SJphone, Firefly 1.8) on
extension 2000 will ring, but as soon as the call is picked up, extension
2000 will hang up the call.
The softphone on 1000 (SIP, SJphone, e.g.) will give a "403

Offtopic: improving softphone latency on Linux?
Hi folks
last weekend, I tried Windows Messenger first time and was stunned by
the little latency it gives. Until now, I've been using softphones on
Linux exclusively, like iaxcomm, linphone and sjphone, and they all give
me about 1, at times even 2 secs delay. Whereas Messenger really seems
to be in the millisec range.
Of course, I'm now curious why there is that difference. Clearly,

(Resend) Trouble with all linux sip softphones.... And asterisk/linphone/kphone SRPMs
Got no responses to this, but the list seemed to be down for a while, so
here it is again. Sorry for the extra bandwidth!

Hi, I've been messing with getting SIP working for days now, with
limited success. I've got Asterisk set up on a remote server with the
echo test. Please try it out to verify I've got the server working

softphone buzzing
I am running Asterisk on our LAN with Cisco IP phones and softphone clients,
SJPhone and Firefly. Everything on our LAN works fine and the quality is
good. We have recently registered other callers not on our LAN who are
using SJPhone and Firefly as well. The audio quality is fine, but I
consistently hear a buzzing sound in the background. We have experimented
with the line in and microphone

Today's Message from linphone; update on Khpone and SJPhone and X-Lite
Today's "frustrated programmer" award goes to Linphone, which has the
following debug output:
> (linphone:28655): LinphoneCore-WARNING **: this fucking remote sip phone did not answered properly to my sdp offer!
I get this message when I connect to linphone using a softphone, or when
I try to use linphone to connect to asterisk and listen to an
announcement. I suspect that

Softphones
Hi All,
I'm currently using SJPhone as a sip client with Asterisk. It works
perfectly with a USB Yap Phone but there is was slight problem! If I
setup SJphone to use the USB device for audio the ringing tone is also
over the USB device. If I'm away from my desk I can't hear the phone
ring! Is there an option to use one audio device for calls but another
for the ringing sound?

softphone (SIP) with multiple profiles
Dear all,
Mayybe this is a little off-topic but I don't know of any other place to
ask for it... my apologies in advance!
I'm looking for a softphone (SIP) with multiple profiles support.
Right now I use SJPhone on SuSE 9.0 Pro, which allows to create several
profiles but, AFAIK, it's not possible to use them all at the same time.
I need this feature because I use different VoIP

how to set the busy signal usign softphones
Hi to all.
I'm using Asterisk 1.4 with Sjphone as softphone.
My problem is that when a SIP user is busy, he still receive calls
from asterisk.
I've tried to setup the call-limit preference to 1, but with this kind
of configuration the user can't transfer calls, as the system block
the 2nd call generated to do the transfer.
I've also tried to set the user as friend, limitonpeers

Best USB Handset and Softphone Combination
I have a client that want to try the softphone with USB handsets route
to see if hardphones will even be needed. I always push for hardphones
(Polycom) so I am not sure about softphones or USB handsets.
This is going to be for a 300+ seat call center onsite and many offsite,
I plan on using OpenVPN for the offsite machines.
Any advice on softphones, handsets, or practical experience with

SJPhone, asterisk and DTMF
I'm currently using the SJPhone softphone with asterisk for remote SIP.
When I dial into the voicemail, and attempt to pass the extension, I
"hear" the sounds, but asterisk is not receiving any DTMF signals. If I
use the Estera softphone, asterisk does receive the DTMF signals.
Normally, I'd just say "Use the Estera" softphone to myself, but that's
not an option,
