Calibrating both RX and TX gain?
Hello! I'm having an echo problem with a TDM card. The TDM card is being fed by a channel bank just 12 or so feet away. When you put an analog handset on the line, both the RX and TX volume seem to be just fine. However, when I use the TDM card, I have to have an rxgain of 13.5, and even then, the audio is relatively quiet. I'm also getting echo on these lines, so I have turned

Echo calibration with ztmonitor and a testlinefrom a telco
The value of 14800 is correct. I had issues with my TDM400p with 2x FXO's installed and using the Xlite client. I could not get the echo stable at the initial call. Changing to a hard phone made everything work correctly. I still had problems with the off location I called, but mostly worked great. To see the TX gain I created an extension with the Milliwatt command attached to it and called

Effectively using a telco Type 102 Milliwatt Test line with ztmon itor -v to set txgain/rxgain in zapata?
I am trying to obtain optimum gain settings for a bank of analog lines connected to a channel bank. My telco has provided a 'Type 102' test line to use for incoming level calibration. This is functionally equivalent to app Milliwatt(), but provides tone from the CO inwards. Question is, how should one use this a 0dbm test source with ztmonitor? Am I correct in understanding that a 0dbm

sangoma card rx/tx gain level
Hey Guys! We had echo issue before so we replaced old PRI card with Sangoma A102D HWEC. Now my question is i set rx/txgain level 0.0 default do i need to touch this value or default is best. I have read on google and people say it should around 14844 on ztmonitor for rx/tx level same. I just use milliwatt and test my default 0.0 rx/tx level and it come around 4600. Do you think i need to make

Clarifying RX and TX gains
I've done gain tuning as per the info I've found online. I've got my RXGain set so my volumes list as about 14,800 (using a milliwatt test number and ztmonitor -vv). However listening to the line now, this sounds too loud to me. The person speaking sounds fine, but I've now got a large amount of background hiss coming thru. In order to get the "recommended"

Test Line
Hi, Somewhere in the Wiki I read that the best way to adjust the rxgain and txgain is to dial a "type 102 milliwatt test line". This line is usually found in xxx-958-nnnn or xxx-959-nnnn ranges. I'm in area code 323 in Los Angeles. Does anybody know the test number here?? Thanks, -N

ztmonitor
Good day list, I am feeling extra stupid this Monday morning and am hoping someone can come to the rescue. I am trying to use the ztmonitor utility on my wildfire 4 FXO card. and have read the following from the wiki. *********Wiki start******** If you set this to yes, use ztmonitor to adjust the rxgain and txgain. Ztmonitor isn't installed by default; but it is included with the Zaptel

Type 102 Millwatt Test Line
Does anybody know a "type 102 milliwatt test number" that I can dial in the USA? I need this in order to configure my "rxgain" and "txgain". My analog line provider, AT&T Repair Center was so confuse, when called them. Thanks in advance. -John _________________________________________________________________ Stay up to date on your PC, the Web, and your

Adit 600 and echo
I'm having issues with echo. My setup is Polycom IP501 phones connected to an Adit 600 via T100P. 13 Lines going to the Adit. All echo so far is on the local side (Employees hears own voice, but only on some calls). Watching the channel with ztmonitor, I notice that TXGAIN is pegged out most of the time. RXGAIN is anywhere between 45 and 60%. Is it safe to assume that playing around

How to 'read' ztmonitor and set gains
Being one the many people trying to track down echo 'ghosts' I ran across this page: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html suggesting ways to adjust the gain. I have a TDM400P 2x2 config with Kewlstart lines configured. I've located a local telco milliwatt test line, and when I call it, the gain numbers are no where near 14844. Now, this

Adjusting gain, Milliwatt and ztmonitor
I have been trying to adjust the gain as per this document without any success: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-November/071301.html I have a PSTN and VoIP (SIP) connection via *. I disabled all echo cancel/training in zapata.conf and set tx/rxgain to 0. I then changed my extensions.conf so that when I call the VoIP line from the PSTN line, it plays the Milliwatt

Ztmonitor values when zap channel is onhook
Hello, In my quest to figure out the source of the random echo on our shiny new asterisk install, I have been using ztmonitor on the TDM400p channels for the good part of today. I have 2 TDM400p cards with 8 FXO modules and 6 pots lines connected to them (last 2 channels are unused but configured in zaptel). Even when the lines are onhook, the Tx values settle down to 0 but the Rx values still

Proper use of echotraining=yes
If you have echo on the X100P's Mark setup chan_zap to pretrain the echo can, but it had a few issues until today which Mark nailed down the bug that caused the DTMF to be unreliable. Ok here is how you would do it: in your zapata.conf.sample: ; In some cases, the echo canceller doesn't train quickly enough and there ; is echo at the beginning of the call. Enabling echo training will

PRI echo issues: solvable?
Hello, After solving the other "low hanging fruit" audio issues in our Asterisk PBX, we are left with occasional cases of severe echo which we have not found a solution for yet. Our system: - Asterisk 1.2.0-beta1 - TE110P on a PRI - TDM04 and TDM40, but these are unrelated to current echo issues - Fedora core 3 - Echo canceller KB1 Most calls have minimal, acceptable echo levels. But

Tiny Echo on PSTN via Zaptel
I'm using Asterisk 1.0.9, a Digium TE210P dual T1 card, and two Rhino channel banks (one 12FXO/12FXS, the other 24 FXS). So it's an analog phone on the inside connected to one of the FXS ports, and PSTN line connected to one of the FXO ports. My problem is that as soon as I hear the _first_ ring when I dial out through the PSTN line, I hear a tiny echo on the phone (I estimate between

ztmonitor displays full bar when idle
Hardware is an SM56 card (X100P clone). When the line hangs up, ztmonitor displays full bar (or whatever maximum allowed by rxgain) in RX. It only drops zero when the line picks up (and remote was silent). Is this something of concern? The zap channel seems to work despite echo. Additionally, what's the objective of tuning with ztmonitor? I mean, what would indicate an optimal level?

WCTDM-24xxp woes
I am currently running Asterisk 1.2.8, on an AMD Sempron 3100+ (ASUS K8N Nforce based board). I am using a Digium wctdm24xxp to terminate 8 (2x quad) FXO lines. Using ztmonitor (From zapata) I cannot see that there is any registerable incoming volume from these lines. I've been running them at rxgain = 25 (zapata.conf) to make the audio audible, however this creates poor call quality issues

Audio distorted local side only
I'm not sure where to check next, so I'm reaching out to those that know this stuff better than I. I've got Asterisk up and running, but I've still got an occasional audio issue. Once in a while (maybe 1 out of every 20-30 calls), the audio becomes heavily distorted, but only on the local side. The party on the other end says the audio is fine. We can hear them, although
