many ways to do load balancing (or not?)
I''m a little confused about the many ways I''ve read that can be used for traffic load balancing, that is, two or more interfaces to the outside world being used transparently and efficiently by the internal machines. I heard about: a) netfilter SNAT to more than one IP. If I''m correct, this is only a round robin, that is, one connection goes here, the other goes there,

Newbie 2 PBX VOIP, protocol ?'s using Cisco 827 7910
I am replacing a dead pbx with *. There are four lines I will be using. There is a Cisco 827-4v already in place so I will move the lines from the pbx to it. I am working with Cisco 7910 phones and I understand they use the Skinny/SCCP protocol. I am not sure if I should use chan_skinny or chan_sccp? However my main question is with communication. Do I need to use the same protocol between the

Re: Load-banancing. two ip''s from one isp - solution
hi for those who was fallowing this topic I can say that IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_CACHED must be disabled! After few tests I''m quite sure that this was cousing my problems. Now I''m using 2.5.15 kernel without patch of Julian Anastasov and load-balancing is working. lartc split-access how to and http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/nano.txt now both are working fine Now I will try to use fwmark

Replication issues master <-> master nfs backend
I keep having some replication issues and not sure what can be done to resolve or correct. It does not seem to happen all the time, though for the last ~30 or so minutes and many messages seems to be happening consistent for me. I have 2 mail servers, basically clones, and thus master master replication. Most of the time things work fine. But many times an email or several will arrive on one,

multipath algorithm
I''ve been reading about multipath routes and found something that no howto I saw mentioned so far: multipath algorithms. The kernel has the followings: # zgrep MULTIPATH_ /proc/config.gz CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_CACHED=y CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_RR=m CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_RANDOM=m CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_WRANDOM=m CONFIG_IP_ROUTE_MULTIPATH_DRR=m CONFIG_DM_MULTIPATH_EMC iproute2

Master-Master replication question
Dear list, I have setup a master-master replication setup. My primairy MX's send email over on a DNS loadbalanced way, so DNS is doing some kind of round-robin way of sending mail to both master servers. I found out, that on one of the two machines, the email synchronisation is heavily delayed. Lets assume server A receives a mail from the MX; it synchronises almost instantly with the other

etherchannel/port group/bonding plus vlan works well
I figured I should post this because before I went to do it I searched the web for caveats etc and didn''t really find much. So anyway, I set up bonding + vlan for a project. Computer is dell powerdge 350 with 2 intel 82559 10/100 nic running stock 2.4.20. I tried both the eepro100 and the e100 drivers for the nics, both work 802.1q and bonding are modules. Switch is cisco 2924xl-en

Possible bug with multiport?
Hi Folks: I am either using the multiport of the -m or --match option of iptables in correctly or there is a bug with it. Is anyone else using it with no problem? This is the way I am trying to use it: my_ports=21,25,80 iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i $wan_addr -p tcp -m multiport --dports $my_ports -j DNAT --to $my_internal_address I have used this in the past successfully but that was a

bonding & vlan - kernel 2.4.18 (RHL7.3)
Hi, Hopefully this won''t be too off-topic (I''ve seen both bonding & vlan mentioned on the list, but not really together). I''ve tried to get bonding (2 x 100Mb EEPro, but will want to try on 1000BaseT) and vlans to work together, but without luck. I can get them working fine (seemingly at least - I didn''t tried bursting on the bonded port) individually.

routing strategies for 2 adsl setup
hi all, i have been able to find only a trickle of information concerning possible strategies for a 2 adsl setup using two different isp''s. has anyone had experience in the usa or elsewhere working with their providers to carry bgp tables, or would you recommend/implement a round-robin arrangement? how ? :-) yours sincerely christopher cuse, rhce/ccna ccuse@tiscali.fr redhat 8.0

Fix list so it adds Reply-To: header
Could whomever is in charge of the lartc mailing list please change it to add the header: Reply-To: lartc@mailman.ds9a.nl Every other list I''m on is setup so that by default replies will go to the list. When replying to lartc emails I notice myself and others constantly forgetting this list does not behave like the rest, and that we have to either do a reply-to-all, or manually enter in

passdb {driver = shadow args = override_username=%variable}
Hello list I want to implement override_username = %variable for the "shadow" driver, so that the following works: passdb { driver = shadow args = override_username=%Ln } by "%variable", I mean "Variables" at http://wiki.dovecot.org/Variables. I've hacked up a solution with strtok(3C), but that's a hack and a possible security hole, and I'd rather
