Timing source on SMP system - Disable RTC for zaprtc
Does anyone know where to disable rtc support on redhat 9.0 using make
menuconfig?
I thought I disabled it but still got the following error when trying to
make zaprtc:
zaprtc.c:109: storage size of `rtc_irq_timer' isn't known
zaprtc.c:719: storage size of `rtc_fops' isn't known
zaprtc.c:107: warning: `DECLARE_WAIT_QUEUE_HEAD' declared `static' but

Zaprtc seems unsupported, Asterisk in production environment without Digium cards
I feel there is some unclarity about the need for a timer in Asterisk. As
Asterisk moves into production environments, this needs to be sorted out.
I'm setting up an Asterisk in a production environment with no Digium cards
at all. It is planned to be used as a clean SIP hosted PABX, where we
connect to the PSTN via gateways with proper echo cancellation. There is no
USB driver on the card.

modprobe ztdummy failed
Hello-
I've been trying to scour both * and linux user group
archives for a solution to this particular problem, but I am
just plan stuck. I got the latest zaptel sources from cvs,
uncommented ztdummy.o in Makefile, ran make; make install
then, did depmod -a. All is well up until now.
When i do modprobe ztdummy, i get this error:
dv@sidetrack:/usr/local/src/zaptel# depmod -a

MeetMe & ztdummy
I'm running into a bit of a problem setting up conference calls. The box
I rent at a colo doesn't seem to have USB hardware.... When I try to load
usb-uhci I receive a "device does not exist" error. Which means I can't
load ztdummy....
The system has a rtc clock module, so zaprtc won't work... (which I'm
scared to unload rtc because I don't have physical access

Timing source on SMP system
I need a timing device for the DL360G2 for conferencing and meetme. For
a timing device I have 2 X100P cards but neither will work in my
DL360G2. The system will not even boot with either card in the system.
Other PCI cards seems to work fine. I called Digium support and was told
that there must be a conflict between the card and my Compaq DL360G2.
I then moved on to ztdummy. I'm sure the

Medium volume 100% SIP/IAX PBX.
Hello,
Does anyone have experience with a %100 all VoIP * setup? I imagine an
office with 50 extensions or so, a full T1 connected to a decent ISP and
an account with NuFone (IAX2 trunking, G729a). I would need to support
at least 25 simultaneous outgoing (7960G -> Asterisk -> NuFone -> PSTN)
phone calls. I would probably keep four or so analog lines for local
calls, 411, 911,

ZtDummy vs Hardware
I was wondering what could be pros and cons of ztdummy vs proper timer
device (i.e. X100P).
I am going to set up an asterisk server in europe (to do trunking, to
save bandwith) and I was wondering if it'll be OK to get it going with
ztdummy.
Furthermore, I have only a 1024/256kbps PPPOE DSL link and I need to
squeeze 12 channels through, I was wondering which codec would be
suitable

Timing source on SMP system - Disable RTC forzaprtc
Kristian,
I have 2 X100P cards but neither work on my Compaq DL360 G2. The system
will not even boot! Take a look at my initial post and let me know if
you have any other advice. Regardless, thanks for your post!

ztdummy
The USB core was completely rewritten in 2.6, and as such the functions
that ztdummy depends on do
not exist in 2.6. I get the feeling that these changes are too much to
easily fix ztdummy, so I don't
expect to see it working on 2.6 any time soon (if ever)
I made some small changes to zaprtc to work on 2.6 and I have MoH and
Meetme functions working
fine in my lab. For production I would

Ztdummy or Zaptel card on production server
Hi there
I am currently using Asterisk with Meetme on a 2.4 linux kernel. I am using
Ztdummy with usb-uhci driver for timing. It seems to work ok, although I
haven't tried it with more than 5 users. However, I am now looking to move
into a production environment and some people have said that it is better to
have a Zaptel card. I would be installing Asterisk on a 2.6 linux kernel for

[OT] Commercial conferencing solution?
This is not directly * related, but could be. My company is
using a VoIP conferencing solution that is suffering from
developer neglect.
I've considered trying to leverage *, and our internal developers
can build the management interfaces. If that plan is not accepted
by management, I need to find a commercial solution that works.

ztdummy on Gentoo 2.6.10 Box
Hi Everyone,
I read through the list on the issues with the ztdummy driver which I
need for MeetMe, but I seem to have come across a problem that I cannot
seem to find an answer for.
I am running Gentoo 2.6.10 on an Intel box.
I have read the the wiki entries on the ztdummy and followed the
instructions as they relate to the 2.6 kernel.
Everything compiled great, but a modprobe ztdummy

ZAPRTC question(s)
I have a system with no Digium hardware in it (two others with 2 X100P
cards in each of them as well). I'm interested in using MeetMe in the
one without the hardware (it works great in the ones with the
hardware). I can't use ztdummy, because the system has usb-ohci
drivers, rather than usb-uhci.
I have read the little there is about zaprtc, and I am wondering
whether there is a

Zaprtc compile error - virtual device for conferencing
Hi,
I don't have a zaptel device for conferencing.
I read from the lists, that
ztdummy and zaprtc need to be installed to get conferencing.
I could able to compile successfully with ztdummy and when i receive the
call it says,

-- Executing MeetMe("SIP/-08118800", "1234") in new stack

ztdummy running, but moh & meetme don't work
Any thoughts on the following?
I am running asterisk from CVS (downloaded yesterday's
version, just to be sure) on a test system with no
digium cards in it, so I have installed ztdummy (see
logs and screenshots below) as a timing source.

Fwd: Asterisk on Solaris 10 (AMD Opteron, Sun Fire X2100)
Hello all,
I really appreciate the replies I've gotten about this so far
(especially the support for wanting to run it on Solaris!).
The core issue seems to have been missed, though -- is there any way
to run a complete Asterisk solution on Solaris 10 (including
music-on-hold and conferencing)? This probably comes down to a few issues:
- Is ztdummy (a component of Zaptel) *really*

Asterisk timing
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hi,
As I understand it, IAX2 trunking requires zaptel timing. Zaptel timing is
provided by Zaptel cards, ztdummy or ztrtc. ztdummy requires usb-uhci and
ztrtc can't run on smp systems.
So if you only have smp systems with ohci and no zaptel cards (because it's a
sip/iax2 gateway) then you're screwed?
