Cisco 7965 SIP Firmware
I have 7965 and am trying to convert the firmware to SIP (SIP45.8-3-4SR1S).
Does anyone have a valid XMLDefault.cnf.xml they could share?
I have tried the version at
voip-info<info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+phone+cisco+79x1+xml+configuration+files+for+SIP&view_comment_id=14768#Troubleshooting>for
the 7941/7961 but unfortunately /var/log/messages shows

Cisco Call Manager & Asterisk for Voicemail
Has anybody successfully (or I guess unsuccessfully for that matter)
implemented Cisco Call Manager and used an * box for voicemail? I
checked the wiki and google and I see some references to Call Manager
Express and *, but CME is completely different than CM. If anybody has
done this or has any insight, it would be appeciated. We are trying to
migrate ~ 300 users off of Cisco Unity and

OT - Cisco IP Phone and PC in diferent VLANs (with 802.1x)
Hello to all
I would like to know If some of you have already configured an Cisco IP
Phone (7940 or 7960) to work in a different VLAN than the PC that is
connected through the phone switch?
I know that this can be done with the Skinny firmware, but I dont if it
works with the SIP firmware.
The Cisco technical staff told me that these phones dont support 802.1x
but can work as pass-through.

Registering a Cisco 7965 on 1.4.26
Hi,
I'm having a problem trying to get a Cisco 7965 phone registered on
Asterisk 1.4.26.
As we know, Cisco now, for security reasons, has made the phone ports
non-symmetric, in that it sends out UDP requests on a high port and
receives them on a different port.
It seems that, even with 'nat' set to 'no', that Asterisk is not
honoring the Contact header and keeps attempting to

Cisco 7960 phones.
I have found a phone that I wish I had not! This is by far the worst
phone to setup. I have finally upgraded it to Sip but once this got
done it I am not able to get it unlocked so I can enter the rest of the
settings. So if anyone out there can tell me how to setup my DNS server
to tell it where the tftp is located (Windows 2000 DNS server) or please
let me have the default password. I called

Working: TFTPd for NAT'd Cisco 7960 and ATA-186
For anyone who is interested, I have a working tftpd (modified wvtftpd)
capable of serving configuration, dialplans, and ringtones to Cisco
7960/7940 and ATA-186 devices that are located behind NAT firewalls. As
TFTP is not a very firewall/NAT friendly protocol, I had to break some
rules to get it to work with these cisco devices. It might cause
problems for other TFTP clients, but it works with

Fwd:[Vocal] Question about Cisco IP hard phones
Interesting notes on the 79xx series.
The 7920 is the wireless phone; not mentioned here.
For a more complete guide to Cisco's phones, see:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/phones/ps379/products_data_sheets_list.html
The 7902 is the "very inexpensive" Cisco phone, and it looks like it
will be SCCP (Skinny) only. Twiddling my thumbs here waiting for the

Cisco 7940/7960 phone and conference calling?
Hello,
Anyone else having problems with the Cisco 7940/7960 (5.3 firmware)
and the latest CVS build, placing conference calls from the phone?
I've noticed the party on the Cisco phone's side will sound very
garbled, and delayed by several seconds.
I haven't begun troubleshooting yet, though I'm able to reproduce this
easily...
Thanks in advance,

Cisco 7940/7960 SIP functionality questions
Hello,
I'm considering using Asterisk with some type of Cisco phone, and currently
considering either the 7940 or 7960 because of its more-complete functionality
(compared to the 7905).
I'm currently wondering:
Do all the expected functions (transfer, conference, voice mail, message
waiting indicator, etc.) work normally with Asterisk over SIP?
What caveats are known about using

Cisco Support for 7940, Is this Right?
Hi all, Happy Wednesday!
Got a 7940G off eBay to tinker with and, per the wiki, contacted Cisco
about a service contract. Being just little ol' me, they won't deal
directly and blew me off (I hate dealing with Cisco, Nortel, etc as a
small-business person...)
Again per the wiki, I hit CDW.com and found CON-SNT-CP7960 for $9.14.
Looking for support for the 7940 (not 7960), I just

MOH question w/Cisco 79xx phones
Hi Everyone....
Got a newbie type question regarding MOH & Cisco phones.
I'm still new to Asterisk (very new in fact) & built up a AsteriskNOW box
just to get something going.
My simple test system has just 3 Cisco phones a 7905, 7940 & 7960. -
Everything's running SIP.
The 3 phones can call each other fine. - Can even leave (and retreive)
voicemail messages. - No problems.

Unlock / install of Cisco 7940 IP Phone ?
Hello Guys,
I just got my new Cisco 7940* IP Phone
Unfortunately I can't find out how to setup this phone.
Am I really that stupid ;-) ? I've read the Cisco Manuel, but everything I
tried did not help anything.
1. When I turn on the phone it will display "Configuring
VLAN....Configuring IP".. This message will not disappear.
2. I can see that the phone has a local IP. I can

OT - Headsets for Cisco 7940/7960
This is Off-Topic for Asterisk, but I wanted to get some feedback on headsets for Cisco 7940/7960 phones.
We have about 10-20 people who wants/needs a headset for their phone & was hoping to collect some real-world input.
Thanks!!

Help Needed in configuring Cisco 7940
I bought a Cisco 7940, I need to configure it for
Asterisk. I checked the wiki pages. Followed the link
to Cisco web page. Tried to download the image for
SIP. It wo'nt allow me even though I registered for
the CCO Valet. Is the image available anywhere else?
I saw some of the messages in the mailing list that it
supposed to be fairly simple.
I would highly appreciate if somone could post

SIP Firmware for Cisco Phones
Just a quick note to people looking for SIP firmware images for Cisco
phones:
To access these files from Cisco's website, you need to have a Service
Contract (SmartNet) on at least on of your phones. I though a contract
was several hundred dollars, but it is way cheaper! Their lowest level,
1 year Next Business Day 8x5 SmartNet program, costs around $70.00, and
gives you unlimited access to

Asterisk and Cisco IP Phones
Hello Everyone,
I want to start using Asterisk with Cisco IP Phones 7960 / 7940/ and 7905.
Any info or help is appreciated.
I know I'll have to use SIP but if I want to use the phones off site meaning
from my home for example, how can this be done?
Also, regarding external lines what are the options for Asterisk?
Thanks
Walid
