Asterisk RPMS for RH9 + RH7.3
Hello all,
It's my birthday today, so as my present I would like everyone
possible to download and test my updated set of RPMS for Asterisk 0.7.1.
By popular request, I installed and built a set of RPMS for RedHat 9.0,
and in the process fixed a bunch of issues from the initial build. I have
also updated and will be maintaining a page on the Asterisk Wiki located

Asterisk 0.7.1 RPMS Updated to Rel 4
Neo: What are you trying to tell me? That I can dodge bullets?
Morpheus: No, Neo. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready,
you won't have to.
There have been over 500 downloads of the RedHat Asterisk RPMS
since they were released 2 weeks ago, and I have received many comments
to improve them. After some late night hacking this weekend, I have
dropped 0.7.1 release 4 RPMS at

Asterisk 0.7.1 RH 7.3 RPMS Released
Hello all,
Per my last message to the list, and my promise to the Developers
that I'd create RPMS if they released 0.7.0, I would like to announce the
availability of experimental RPMS for Asterisk release 0.7.1. These are
targeted at RedHat 7.3 systems, running the latest Kernel release
(2.4.20-28.7). As the RPMS mature and people submit comments, changes,
updates and patches, I will

TE405P w/ Intel SE7210TP1_E Motherboard
Hello,
I'm looking at building a couple new PRI Gateway boxes using
TE405P cards, and was wondering if anyone has had any experiences (good or
bad) with the Intel SE7210TP1_E motherboards from Intel. General Technics
builds some really nice (and cost effective) 1U servers based on the
board:

Debian Unstable Claims Asterisk 1.0-1
Howdy,
I just did an "apt-get dist-upgrade" on my Debian unstable box,
and noticed that the Asterisk version appears to be 1.0-1 in the unstable
tree. I KNOW that 1.0 hasn't been released yet, so I am wondering who is
responsible for the Debian packages? This will be VERY VERY confusing for
people and it should be corrected ASAP.

Comedian Mail User Guide
Is there a user guide for Comedian Mail? I need to give some training
materials to my end users.
So far, I have been unable to find anything through google or the Digium
site.
THanks,

Polycom 501 Phones Rebooting
Hello,
At one of our locations, we have started to see Polycom 501s
(running 1.6.7 firmware) randomly reboot. We have taken packet traces of the
phones to determine if there is something odd in the Layer 2 or 3 of the
network that might cause it, and have not seen anything strange. There are
no errors on the ports. This appears to be affecting POE powered as well as
AC powered phones. The Polycom

Updated RPMS for Asterisk-1.0 RC1
Hello all,
Hot on the announcement this morning by Mark, I have updated and
rebuilt new Asterisk RPMS for RedHat 7.3, 8, 9 and Fedora Core 1. Please
feel free to install these and beat them up. The usual disclaimer
applies.. These haven't been tested, not reccomended for production use,
don't bug Digium for support of these, blah blah blah....

The Smallest Asterisk Server Ever?
Hello all,
Saturday night, after a couple of shots of bourbon, I realized
that I had an old PC sitting in the garage that I could use as an Asterisk
gateway if I just blew the dust off it and reloaded it with a modern Linux
distribution. In my characteristically impulsive manner, I grabbed it and
started cleaning it up so that I could put it in my office without my wife
having a fit.

yet another Asterisk and VMware question
I looked through this forum and other lists trying to get a definitive
answer to the VMware question...
I have a Windows 2003 Server box that is my development machine. It is fully
loaded with many s/w packages, dev tools, etc. It's not very feasible to
convert this box to Linux without losing an awful lot of stuff.
On it, I'm running VMware GSX 3.1.0. Under VMware, I have a

::::: Pssst. Rc2! :::::::
If you look into the download areas, you'll find Asterisk 1.0 release candidate two...
Find the mirrors on the link below, they'll update during the day if they don't already
have RC2. Please don't hit the Digium FTP-server, since development need that connection
for the bug tracker and the CVS. (And I guess Digium also needs the link for telephony :-)

Choosing a VoIP Phone
Greetings all,
My next step is to purchase a nice VoIP phone for my desk. I have a grandstream, and the sound is great, but I'm looking for more of an office style phone, preferably that can handle multiple lines, has a more flexible display (i.e. name as well as number). SIP would be preferable.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Eric

[Asterisk-Dev] Memory Leak in Stable?
Hello,
I have a client that has a fairly small installation (20 SIP
Phones) that is running Stable. Asterisk appears to be consuming large
quantities of memory, and growing uncontrollably to the point where after
about 6 weeks the box starts to swap itself to death. I've been keeping my
eye on it today, and in the last 12 hours, it has grown by about 8
megabytes, and there has been

GrandStream 1.0.4.55 Firmware
Hello,
Anyone using the 1.0.4.55 firmware release with any success? I
have had my Budgetone running 1.0.4.50 for about a month and a half now
with no problems whatsoever, and I am a little leary about upgrading.

Updated Patch to chan_agent.c for PREACKANNOUNCE
First, many thanks to Greg Boehnlein for his patch to chan_agent.c
for adding a "preackannounce" option.
I am running CVS HEAD from 2005/07/31, and the patch failed in a
few hunks, since the code was refactored to add in some CASE
statements where there were compound if statements before.
Anyway, I have successfully updated the patch to work against head
as of 3 weeks ago, and would

Polycom IP 500 Dial Issues
Hello,
I have a mixture of Polycom SP IP 500 and 300 phones. I have been
reading through the administration manual to try and solve this problem,
but I do not seem to be able to find the answers to my question. I figured
I would ask here and see if anyone has some suggestions.
The problem is kind of annoying. After dialing 4 digits, the phone seems
to pause and miss the 5th digit, often

Grandstream Early Dial
I have upgraded my grandstream phone from firmware 1.0.3.78 to 10.0.4.30 and now I am having problems with early dial. On the older firmware earlydial worked fine with my asterisk server, but now as soon as I have dialed the number I get a congested tone, and the number 4 flashes up on the LCD screen.
Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how do I fix it?
