Polycom & VPN trouble
Hi All,
I am a remote office that is connected to my office via openvpn on UDP.
Voip has always worked well (after discovering g729). Initially I used a
softphone, then an analog set on a sipura 2000, then a polycom IP500 (I
still LOVE this phone). At that point, I started noticing that the
polycom doesn't ring a lot of the time. Since I was desperate for a
phone, I didn't upgrade

Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello,
I am looking at the Polycom phones.
The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over
the ip500 and ip300..
Is it worth the extra dollars?
Kind regards

Asterisk and IP500 / IP600 Boot RoM
Hello,
Does anybody have the latest Boot ROMs for the IP500 and IP 600 Polycom
phones.
I have one of each and can't find the Boot ROM v 3 anywhere to download.
I would also love a good sample phone.cfg and sip.cfg files from an
Aussie asterisk user to look at.
Also the ip500 is having problems trying to load the bootrom 2.6.2 ? Any
ideas?
Kind regards

Where to get latest SIP bootrom/firmware for Polycom IP500 phones?
I have these phones working well with Asterisk, thanks to
http://www.freedomphones.net/polycom/files
The code there is not the most current (and my Polycom Extranet login hasn't gotten
updated yet to allow downloads). Been waiting a while for their support folks to
update the access.
If you know where I can get the 2.5.0 BootROM and 1.3.1 SIP code?
Thanks,
L.

MWI not working on Polycom Phones
Hi All -
I'm running version SIP version 1.3.4 on various IP300, IP500, and
IP600 Polycom phones. I'm having a tough time with MWI. I thought I
remembered somebody on the list saying that they had it working, but I
can't find it in the archives now. I have all the phones configured
for MWI as specified in the WIKI:

Polycom SoundPoint IP 300 Configuration
I just got a Polycom soundpoint and I set it up using the phone and web
based admin.
I cant seem to figure out the config files and they are confusing me
greatly and I dont have time for it :)
Some things are odd, like on every reboot it seems the volume I set is
reset? is there any way to fix that. And the ringer seems low. - Even

Anyone willing to point out a good asterisk

Error updating bootrom on Polycom phones..doesn't even download the bootrom!
I'm having problems updating my bootrom to the latest (3.2.2) version.
Basically, my phone starts downloading the bootrom, but I am completely
certain that it doesn't actually complete the process.
It gives me an "error updating bootROM!" message, but it only takes about 2
seconds to complete the download (which, because of my WAN link and FTP
server environnement I know is

Polycom 500 bootrom.ld problem
Received two new Polycom 500 phones. Dhcp and ftp configured properly to
load the various files including v2.5.0 bootrom.ld, etc. One of the phones
loaded all firmware and config files properly, registers with *, and is
usable.
The second phone loads bootrom.ld (from the same ftp server on the same
wire as the phone), but towards the end of the bootrom.ld load process

Yikes! Polycom 501 chokes on BootRom 4.0.0?
I was progressively upgrading this phone from 3.1.2
to 3.2.3, then to 4.0.0. v3.2.3 worked fine, but
when I went to 4.0.0 (Even adding the more specific
2345-11500-040.bootrom.ld), it won't run, and
just keeps rebooting.
Now I've got a really nice doorstop unless someone
knows how to get out of this predicament. Help!

Polycom phones
I have a couple of Polycom phones, bootrom 2.5.0, SIP 1.3.1.0056. Works
great with Asterisk when I power on the phone. However, after some time,
say an hour, I cannot receive calls on this phone. On Asterisk, when I
do "database show", it does show the phone in there, but it cannot reach
the phone. Is there a way to keep alive the connection with Polycom?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

OT: Polycom BootRom 3.1.3 and vsftpd 2.0.3 WARNING!!!
Hello everyone,
Please forgive the exclamation points but I have been battling this one
off and on for about four days now. Sorry for the cross post.
It all started with a box of IP 501s. I contacted my reseller and
obtained the latest BootRom and SIP firmware. Unzipped, configured,
copied over to my FTP server (running AstLinux, of course). The phone
booted, so far so good. Updated

Calling on all Polycom Experts
Hey all, I'll give my reseller a call for support in the morning, but
I usually have better/faster luck on the list. I've got a SoundPoint
IP500 that I upgraded to BootROM 2.6.2 and SIP image 1.5.2 on someone
elses advice, I forgot to change out the old config for the new when I
loaded the image up (I guess the config changed a bunch between 1.5.2
and 1.3.1) I was prompted with an error

Dead Polycom ip500
Hi,
I just got and setup a new ip500 yesterday and it worked for about 15
minutes. Then it froze during a reboot. Now, when power cycled, the
logo comes on for 3 seconds and then the screen is blank and nothing
further happens. 468* factory reset doesn't work. I am about to send
the phone back, but wonderd if anyone had a suggestion first.

Users handbook
At the most recent project I completed I have to post a intranet web
page with instructions on using the system and phones. Asterisk is 1.07
stable and the phones are Polycom IP300, IP500, and IP600.
Has anyone done an Astersik users guide? Something non-technical but
covering most of the features an office worker would use.
If nothing exists, should we develop this as a documentation project?

Polycom IP500 Quickstart page or files?
Hi,
I just got my ip500 back after months of waiting. Is there an easy way
to get it hooked up to asterisk without [t]ftp servers and all that or
is there a quickstart page somewhere?

Polycom Buddies in 1.6.6
All,
Slightly off topic.
Polycom released their SIP software version 1.6.6 for their phones recently. I was under the impression that this release fixed a previous limitation where the phones would only watch 7 buddies, ie send 7 sip subscriptions to Asterisk. I have configured a phone directory to watch 30 or so appearances, and it still seems to only be sending 7 subscriptions to Asterisk.
