Really Funky Samba Errors (smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl)
Hi All, I'm experiencing some really funky Samba errors, and I'm hoping that some of you might have some ideas. This only happens sporadically, and when it does, I loose Samba connectivity for a while. Here are my Samba logs: Jun 2 13:29:01 nasone smbd[20289]: [2004/06/02 13:29:01, 0] smbd/nttrans.c:call_nt_transact_ioctl(2076) Jun 2 13:29:01 nasone smbd[20289]:

Regards, Samba 3.0.14a, running on Solaris 8 or Sgi IRIX 6.5.27. Scenario: 1. User has a symlink on his homeshare to a directory, let's call it dir1, which is automounted to the samba server (tried both Solaris samba server and Sgi, same result). 2. In a subdirectory under dir1 there's another directory (dir2) which contains a file (filename.wrl). 3. When the user directs Windows

Peer Review - Linuxfest Presentation Outline
Hello all, I've been invited to do a presentation on Asterisk for the Ohio Linuxfest in Columbus this weekend (http://www.ohiolinux.org). Rough estimates are that nearly 500 people will be attending. I've been working on an outline for a couple of weeks and I would like to have some peer review of the information presented. I am going to have to cut down the content to make it fit in

My Windows RAS won't authenticate against Samba PDC; do I need radius
We're replacing an NT4 PDC with a samba PDC and after a bit of work everything is working fine except that our VPN server won't authenticate users against the domain. We're using Windows 2003 Server Remote Access Service (RAS) as our VPN server and it was working with our old NT4 PDC. The Windows 2003 Server is otherwise cooperating with the new Samba PDC (I can log in using domain

Samba Team, I've been trying to get my Samba server to authenticate users against a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain controller, and it just doesn't work. I've encountered a TREMENDOUS amount of postings from people who have run into the same issue, and there's never any responses with a resolution. Windows Server 2003 SP1 Issues (3.0.15pre2)
Hi All, I'm running into some issues accessing a Samba server that's in turn authenticating against a Win2k3-SP1 domain controller (security=ads). I understand there were some known issues corrected in a patch, and I'm currently running 3.0.15pre2, which I understand includes that patch. (http://samba.org/~jerry/patches/post-3.0.13/winbindd_2k3sp1.patch) All was working fine

BackupExec Agent on Samba
Is there an improved BackupExec Unix agent available that works with Samba? If not, can someone tell me how to work around the lack of the archive bit that Linux has? In particular, RedHat Linux 7.2 is the system I'm looking for help on. I found the following hints in an older version of this newsletter, Samba Digest, Vol. 3, Issue 34, sent March 21, 2003, that had this in it: Yes, we have

One way intermittent static to PSTN
We are having intermittent problems where the person we call reports static when we place an outgoing PSTN call. Only the person called hears static, to us the conversation sounds fine. Never happens on inbound calls. It doesn't matter what channel you call from (IAX, SIP, or Zap). We have a Sangoma A108D with hardware echo cancellation with 2 PRIs to Level3 and 2 PRIs to a Nortel Option
