Beginner couple of questions
Dear all,
I have some questions, I'm sure it's pretty stupid for most of you, but I need
you guys to help me. Here are my questions:
1. Music On Hold, it doesn't play any sound on the parked call or hold call.
But if I do ps-ax, it shows mpg123 .....( I forgot the exact line). I'm using
slackware 9.1
2. I have fxs 3 port, and in my zapata.conf I have included callpickup=1-4,

Music On Hold distorted
I have searching the forums here on how to get Music On Hold working
and I have been able to get * to accept a command for MusicOnHold
and for Meetme after loading the ztdummy module. I used the default
config for /etc/zaptel.conf since I saw no guidance on this. My problem
now is that when I activate MusicOnHold, the sample music file sounds
very slow and distorted. My best guess is that it is

MOH problems
I am trying to music on hold but I am having all sorts of problems with it.
I am running RH9 and the latest version of Asterisk as of yesterday.
Here is what I did to test it:
1. I manually deleted the mpg123 softlink to mpg321.
2. I downloaded mpg123-0.59r-1.n0i.src.rpm, compiled and installed the
the archive and loaded ztdummy.o module.
3. I threw a couple extra files in the mohmp3 directory

MP3Player
Hi all,
Here another guy working with ztdummy and having problems with music.
MP3Player does not work for me both from a telephone entering through a passive ISDN-adapter as well as a SIP-client in the LAN. Ztdummy works with conferences.
Here are my messages.
I have seen several discussion threads in the mail-archive regarding this subject, but could not find an answer.
Is this something I

Streaming MoH on 1.4
Hi,
I've looked high and low for any changes that streaming MoH needs on
Asterisk 1.4 (.21), followed NerdVittle's article about it
(http://nerdvittles.com/index.php?p=92) yet nothing worked.
After creating dir stream/ and touch stream.mp3, here's my
musiconhold.conf

mode=mp3
directory=/var/lib/asterisk/mohmp3/stream

mp3 playback (mpg123)
Hi All,
First of all a quick thanks to everyone that has provided me
with hints and tips over the past few days.
I'm still experiencing problems with the playback of MP3s. The
MP3 files will playback but they suffer from "stuttering". mpg123
is installed and plays back the file without problem via the
desktop speakers. (It is definitely mpg123 installed, and not
mpg321)

(Yet another) Music on hold problemand another...
Type 'mpg123' at the Linux CL. (no quotes)
If the version is anything other than 59r, you problem is solved.
Go to the Wiki and search for Music On Hold.
Do the install of version 59r ONLY as described in the docs.
Cheers,
Wiley

help on MOH config, pretty close?
Trying to test the music on hold function and can't seem to get it to work.
If anyone has it running, could you give me a clue? (I have googled and
found lots of questions, but no real suggestions.)
I downloaded and installed the mpg123 package. From the RH9 console I can
start the executable and hear the music via the speakers. The executable
is located in /usr/bin. (That works!)
I set the

Music on Hold
Does anybody have a good source for hold music? I can see a number of
companies on the web that sell royalty-free MOH, but they don't all provide
samples. The customer service desk has requested "calming, not sleeping,
but calming" and "this is a high-tech company, so make it 'techie' [sic]".
Thanks,

distorted native music on hold
Hello,
Using asterisk-1.2.1 I am trying to convert my music-on-hold files from
.wav to alaw:
% sox moh.wav -r 8000 -c 1 moh.al resample -ql
The file sounds fine when listened with:
% sox mox.al -t ossdsp /dev/dsp
But when listened through asterisk with an alaw SIP phone the sound is
clicky and too fast.
Did I forget something in my conversion command?

So I have whose autoattendant is colliding with their extensions...
Quick fix anyone?
Second someone presses say a person's extension (101) ... Autoattendant
sends them to the first context...

Calling Asterisk Autoattendant With SIP Phone
I'm trying to get into the world of Asterisk in order to use the voicemail and autoattendat features (and more stuff later) with a Redcom switch. But, I've only started and haven't gotten to that yet. At this point my solitary goal is to talk to the autoattendant via an SIP phone (SJPhone). I've spent countless hours trying to find the documentation I need to accomplish my goals

Musiconhold interrupted sound
Hi,
I don't seem to be able to get music on hold to play normally.
The sound gets often interrupted with a few seconds of silence
then starts playing again. I'm using mpg123-0.59r and tried
mp3 files with different sample rates with no luck. If that matters,
endpoints are SIP ata186, SIP Cisco 7960 and H.323 (over chan_h323)
Quintum Tenor.
Sometimes it may play fine for a few minutes

Attendant configured AutoAttendant
Anyone have a user configured auto attendant setup? Something that can
be used without the * admin helping to make changes.
Something where the operator can record the message like 'press 1 for
john, 2 for bill, 3 for jean' and then the operator can enter the
extension that gets dialed when the caller presses 1 or 2 or 3?
This would be useful if Bill leaves the company, the operator can

PRI Test Lab
Hey Everyone,
I would like to start testing/playing with PRI channels but I don't have access to a PRI line. Is it possible to do the equivilent of a crossover between two PRI Cards (say Digium's TE120P)?
What I was thinking is that I could set one asterisk box up with a PRI card set as the TE and provide clocking and another box exactly the same but with the card setup as NT.
I think

Autoattendant Configuration
Hi,
At my house, I have two POTS lines. Both are connected to my * server
on a TDM400P card. As an example, say the phone numbers are
(919)555-1212 and (919)555-1213. I also have four SIP extensions, an
ATA with a fax machine, and a DID coming in from an ITSP.
I have an autoattendant configured that talks and allows users to
forward to the extension they choose, but my family doesn't like

Outline For Asterisk Book - Please Review & Comment
Asterisk Users
In an attempt to help Asterisk move forward, a number of us have decided
to create a book. It would initially be released as an "ebook" that
could be sent to newbies to help them up the rather steep learning
curve. Ultimately I would like to see it published and sold in
bookstores (preferably by O'Reilly & Co.).
Below is the outline for the book. We REALLY
