Packet8 New Area Codes and Rate Centers
I received a message from Packet8 last night telling me they added some
new area codes. I took a look at their new area code/rate center finder
page and it looks like the added a LOT of new area codes. They now have
phone numbers available in almost every state.
The URL for finding out which area codes and rate centers are available
with Packet8 is at http://www.packet8.net/about/areacodes.asp

VoIP service through Asterisk?
Greetings. I did some digging with Google, the wiki, and on the
archives, but didn't find a recent conclusive answer. If this is
answered in the wiki or archives somewhere, please point me to it.
I'm in the process of setting up an Asterisk box for home use. I've got
a X100P card on the way. I've not decided what analog adapter(s) to get
yet. The only phone service to hook up

VoIP dialtone?
Hi all,
While pondering my choices for local dial tone service via a
bunch of POTS lines or a T1, I began to wonder if perhaps there
is another way.
Are there VoIP dialtone providers? That is, could I use only my
internet connection for voice calls and not have a separate
T1/POTS bank for that?
I guess I am imagining a company that gateways between the PTSN
and the internet backbone.

Looks like www.packet8.com <http://www.packet8.com/> has been hacked

The phone service is offline as well.
Interesting to note that the whois is showing an update today but
doesn't look like details have changed.

Packet8 integration into Asterisk?
Hi John,
I've been using Packet8 via a physical ATA and XP100 card for some time.
As far as I know it is not possible to connect to the Packet8 service
without the ATA.
If this is not the case I would be very interested to hear this.
In addition since moving to the USA I now only have a single packet8
line into my asterisk box (I used to have this and a 2nd regular pstn
line)
I used to be

OT: Can I use a SIPURA with Packet8?
I have packet8 and I have spent many hours on the phone with them.
If someone has found away around there DTA configuration I would like to
know so I can bring it in house to my * box. But as far as your
question is concerned. No. Not that I know of. They wouldn't give me
any information about the configs.

Review: Packet8's DTA310
**** DRAFT **** DRAFT **** DRAFT **** DRAFT ****
I've been using the DTA310 from Packet8.net for a couple of
weeks. The DTA310 is about $130 without the Packet8.net VoIP
service. It only supports SIP.
On the back of the DTA310 is a power connector (power supply is
provided with the product), a 10/100 Ethernet port, an FXS port,
and a reset button. The front of the device has LEDs for

X100P connected as extension to Panasonic 616 EASA-PHONE
Hi all.
I`ve installed a X100P on my box and is working well with incoming and
outgoing calls as a trunk with one PTSN line.
I want to connect the X100P to my Panasonic 616 EASA-PHONE as an
internal extension to permit to users to make calls to SIP devices from
analog phones, the problem is when I dial the ext number where the X100P
is connected I get busy tone.
What config I need to change to

Packet8 Users
I am aware of a least a few people (including me) who were using the
Packet8 service along with Asterisk for outgoing calls. Last night
Packet8 did a software upgrade and both last night and this morning I
have been unable to make any outgoing calls. Has anyone else noticed
this behavior and/or been able to correct it? I get Got SIP response 403

Packet8 and Asterisk, do they play nice?
Has anyone gotten Packet8 setup as a sip trunk for Asterisk? Would they be
so kind as to share their config or point me to a website that shows how it
can be done?
I would be much obliged.

OT: List of VoIP providers?
I have been looking around for VoIP providers but have not found a good
listing.
Is there no "yellow pages" for VoIP providers? Google mostly returns
services
like Vonage, Packet8, NuFone, ect. None seam to be very reseller
friendly and
none offer LNP or local DID's for my area. Anyone know of a list (even a
partial one)

X100P question about odd behavior
Hi All...
I have installed a single X100P card in my PC and am playing with Asterisk.
The wire I plugged into the X100P has two POTS lines on it, wired on the
RJ45 in the normal way.
I am getting odd behavior. It seems when I dial out that the X100P dials
both lines at the same time.
I have two questions.
First, I see that the X100P is only a single channel. Does this mean that

outgoing calls with packet8 and dta310 problems
I'm trying to get asterisk working w/ packet8 (incoming and outgoing)
and a dta310 so I can have more control over voicemail. I've looked
at the data stream coming from the dta310 and from packet8, but I
haven't managed to get the phone to actually place invites through
asterisk. On the asterisk end with chan_oss.so, I can make it dial
and I hear ringing and the first second of

"skipping" / dropped audio, high-pitched squeal on X100P channels..
This is driving me nuts. Any help appreciated.
I have a couple of annoying problems in my Asterisk box, and I'll be
dipped if I can figure them out. The box in question is an Asterisk
CVS-05/03/04 (1.0) checkout, using the Zaptel drivers of the same
vintage from CVS. There are two X100P cards, and one TDM400P with a
single FXS module. The machine is an Athlon 2400XP CPU, Debian

Packet8 DTA310 and Asterisk
I have my DTA310 getting an IP via DHCP. I loaded the unlocked firmware version (Application Code Version: DTA version 1.0 US (8x8 001111)) onto it via TFTP, so I could access the SIP configuration.
Under the SIP config, I put the IP of my * system, the 5060 port, and for Domain Name, I put default (is that right?). I checked off the Send Registration Request box. Dial Plan I left at the default,

asterisk install in a home with regular phones and a x100p
Hello all,
I have a question. I have an asterisk box setup with an x100p card
installed. I have about 3 VoIP phones connected to it. The x100p is connected
to my pots line. I also have regular phones connected the the pots line as
well like most normal people would. When I get an incomming call all the
regular phones ring and my VoIP phones ring. This is good. My question is
this. Say

X100P "rings" randomly when "phone" line makes call
Not sure if anyone experienced the same - or if anyone ever connected a POTS
phone to the "Phone" jack on an X100P card.
The POTS phone rings normally when the FXO receives a call. The POTS phone
can also make outgoing calls when FXO is not holding the line. This is
desired. But if a call connected to the POTS phone lasts longer than a
couple of minutes, Asterisk would receive

X100P Manually Answer
I have an X100P used, at present, largely for outgoing calls. It shares the
single incoming POTS line with a number of analog phones. Is it possible to
talk the X100P (Zap/1) to answer a ringing call only if I ask it to? I'd
like to use only the SIP phone in my office, but let the analog phones
continue to work in the rest of the house (until I can afford FXS cards
anyway..)

Is the X100P a WinModem?
So I've been on the Asterisk list for a long time. Mostly looking to set
it up as a cheap alternative to a commercial MeetMe bridge, as a for-fun
project.
I keep noticing the Wildcard FXO X100P sorta seems like a Winmodem.
Winmodems are basically a sound card chip tied to a pots port, where the
Winders driver takes on the MO/DEM functions in software. I've always
despised them as a data
