Followed the "instructions" on voip-info.org regardinging fedora FC2,

looks like a version mismatch somehow. Ideas? If this ooc, sorry first

Zaptel and Linux Distros
Hey all,
Just a quick question. Are there any known issues using the zaptel
drivers on different linux distros? ie: is a 2.4 kernel the only
requirement?
I ask because I have an X100P i'm still trying to get work properly and
I'm thinking there is nothing wrong with the card itself. It's setup
correctly as far as I can tell and it used to work when I was using

FC2 zaptel compile failure
I've got a fresh FC2 install and I'm trying to get the symlinks right
according to the /usr/src/zaptel/README.Linux26 instructions.
I've created two symlinks:
/usr/src/linux-2.6 -> /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358
/lib/modules/linux-2.6 -> /lib/modules/2.6.7-1.494.2.2
When I do a "make linux26", I get a million warnings and errors with the
result being:

service zaptel start
Hi all,
Anybody had problems with 'service zaptel start' on Fedora Core 2?
Works just fine on RedHat 9. On FC2, after executing 'service zaptel
start', the modprobe zaptel line from zaptel init script executes just
fine, but the later insmod line that loads the remaining modules one at
a time fails. This failure is totally silent, ie no warnings are
printed to any

ztdummy on Fedora Core 2
I followed the Wiki instructions to get zaptel to work on Fedora core 2.
It looked like everything went perfect including the loading of ztdummy.
However, I am having meetme and MOH problems synonymous with ztdummy not
loading. Take a look at my lsmod...Any ideas? (I am running stable
Asterisk on a DL360 - Dual processor)

Linux distribution
Hello,
Could anybody tell me if there is a Linux distribution (or Kernel version)
that works better with Asterisk. I am newbie and I don't know if there is a
preferred Linux/kernel version for Asterisk.
Thanks.

Fedora Core 2 and Kernel 2.6
Hi All,
I decided to have a go at installing Asterisk on FC2 which now runs on
Kernel 2.6..
Unfortunately I didn't get very far..
When trying to build zaptel it required me to link /usr/scr/linux-2.6 to
the default source dir which is /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-1.358.. I guess
thats still the RH infulence.. :)
After than I tried again but the page rolls with errors and finally ends

an issue with the zaptel init script..
If I run..
#modprobe zaptel
#modprobe wcfxo
#modprobe wcfxs
.. from a command line it load and appears to be working fine..
If I try and use the init script I get errors about ZT_CHANCONFIG and
the modules don't see to laod up..
Anyone got any pointers?

Asterisk and Fedora
Hello List,
I have been beating my head against the wall for a little while now
trying to get my TDM400 card to work with Fedora Core 4. Not a great
deal of success even after successful builds of zaptel and the other
required componentry. The machine doesn't even recognize the card.
Using Debian it was recognised but as a newbie to Asterisk most of
the documentation I can find and

Asterisk 0.7.1 RH 7.3 RPMS Released
Hello all,
Per my last message to the list, and my promise to the Developers
that I'd create RPMS if they released 0.7.0, I would like to announce the
availability of experimental RPMS for Asterisk release 0.7.1. These are
targeted at RedHat 7.3 systems, running the latest Kernel release
(2.4.20-28.7). As the RPMS mature and people submit comments, changes,
updates and patches, I will

Trouble connecting to Samba shares from other Linux boxes
Hey list,
I'm having some problems with a few of my Fedora Core 2 boxes. 1 of the systems is set up as a Samba Server as the main fileserver. I
have some Windows XP machines connecting to it just fine, nice and fast. However, I also have some FC2 systems that connect to it using
the smbfs filesystem, and while they work initially after booting up, any amount of browsing through Nautilus or

Zaptel comple on FC2
I wouldn't normally post this to the asterisk mailing list but I'm
really stuck...
I've been trying to get meetme working on and off for a few months now
but I always hit a brick wall when trying to compile.
I keep seeing this...
make linux26
cc -I. -O4 -g -Wall -DBUILDING_TONEZONE -DSTANDALONE_ZAPATA
-DZAPTEL_CONFIG=\"/etc/zaptel.conf\" -c -o gendigits.o

(no subject)
Hello again!
Just wondering if any one else has had a problem with stop and starting
asterisk?!? If I do it say 5/6times without restarting the computer then it
crashes. This doesn't seem normal to me, could this be because I'm running
fedora core 2? I know there's problems with using fedora to do with the
zaptel stuff but I've got them working.
If u have had this problem and been

??? By "standard" what do you mean. ???
Linux's history has been notorious for variance from ANSI, NIST, POSIX
and GNU standards. Yes, far less than Microsoft and even some UNIX
vendors, but there are still major issues today with this.

Most desireable Linux distribution for Aster isk?

Second that, using FC2 for me, and it's the Devil You Know, right? I have a
good handle on the RedHat Way which the Debian guys say is stupid, but it's
not, it's just different. All of the little RedHat-y things you get used to
and when you use a different distro, it's like, WTF?? I like

from XPPro to Linux what distribution to use for R ?
Dear R users
I m planning to move to Linux to use R (currently under Win XPPro on a 32bit PC with 4 Go RAM), I have 2 questions:
- is there a recommended "version/distribution" of Linux to run?R and Bioconductor packages: Fedora ? Ubuntu ? Suse ? Debian ?
- Regarding Fedora, I see that now it is version 8 available on the web, but on R website I can only see R Fedora 7 version (no F8);
