Headless Linux system for Asterisk
Because of space limitations and because of the location of the
punch-down blocks, my * server is located on the shelf in a coat closet.
Sadly, there is not enough space (or ventilation) for the monitor and
keyboard. This will all change when we move to new quarters, but...
Does anyone have experience running Linux/Asterisk without a monitor?
What, if any, are the issues?

Is there is an open source ACD component for Asterisk?
Likewise, is there an open source CTI component that will work with

Splicing audio clips into one stream
Is there a Linux tool that will splice several gsm sound clips together
into one clip?
In my agi script, I would like to use 'get_data' with one clip instead
of multiple 'stream_file' so the user doesn't have to listen to the
entire spiel before responding.
Thanks,

zaphfc and ASUSCOM working in the US
I finally got my ASUSCOM (Cologne chip) ISDNLink card working here in
the US.
When a call arrives, I get "Unknown IE 42 (Unknown Information Element)"
and "Unknown IE 21 (Unknown Information Element)".
IE 21 (0x15) is defined as Q931_CALL_STATE_SUSPEND_REQUEST. IE 42
(0x2a) is not defined in the code and I couldn't google it.
Is this something perculiar with ISDN in

Premisys Slimline CB
I need to connect a bunch of analog telephone sets. Does anyone have
any comments about this channel bank? Disconnect supervision? Echo?
ADSI problems? The price is right @ $995 new and $695 refurbished.

[OT] What's changing /etc/hosts?
Occasionally my /etc/hosts file gets corrupted. The IP address and the
host name switch positions with the host name to the left.
What this happens, my 7940 phones won't register. Fixing /etc/hosts
allows the phones to register.
Do any of you Linux gurus know who is corrupting the hosts file?
Thanks,

Asterisk on OS X
Hello,
I have researched a few postings where users mentioned being able to
install Asterisk on Mac OS X Panther by adding some code after line 165 in
the Makefile and then compiling.
This has been unsuccessful for me.
I downloaded the asterisk-0.9.0.tar.gz tarball and am trying to install
from it.
The output I get upon trying to make after editing the Makefile can be

Pressing 0 in Voicemail causes * to hangup
I tried it w/ mine as well and it hung up on me because I just have
Voicemail running not Voicemail2.
It seems as though you have Voicemail2 because it's trying to play the

Just a thought though.
Does it do the samething w/

Cisco 7960, Nortel MICS, Digital sets, ...
I have a couple of questions I'm hoping folks can help me out with.
When I search the mailing list, I see folks doing what I'm interested in
so here's hoping !
- How are people making out with interfacing to the 7960? I'm
considering buying a number of these as they look quite feature rich.
But, are they easy to interface to?
- Will I be able to interface with softkeys on

Needed - Asterisk Consulting
A customer contacted us today concerning getting a VoIP to PSTN system with
a few IP Phones setup. Asterisk should fit his needs. It is not a big job,
but I think that this customer is going to need onsite work.
Please contact me off list if you are an interested reseller in the
Washington, DC area.

Any clues as to what this is? Google isn't much help. Both cards have the

SFTP
I'm having problems with a new install of Asterisk (I had to reinstall
because hard drive failed). I've used debian net install this time and
for some reason WS FTP will not connect using SFTP (it keeps coming back
with username and password fail) but when I use Putty to connect with
the same password and username it works no problems.
Any thoughts?

CPU spikes with wcfxs loaded
I need to reopen this discussion because it's impossible to run spandsp
(and VoIP) under these circumstances.
With zaptel unloaded, I see the following "vmstat 1" output:
no swapping, an occasional disk output, +/- 1003 interrupts/sec., less
than 10 context switches/sec., CPU idle 100%. A very quiet system.
I load modules zaptel and wcfxo, and the system utilization stays the

Interrupt latency problems
I'm debugging a TxFax problem whereby the fax transmission fails. I
suspect interrupt latency--some interrupt routine is holding its
interrupt too long. I have all unnecessary services switched off and X
is not running when I perform these tests. Some transmission are
successful while others fail at random points.
I've noticed that after I boot Linux, load zaptel, wcfxo, and wcfxs,

WiSIP Firmware Version F?
Greetings,
I purchased a WiSIP at the VON conference and am now trying to configure it
to work with Asterisk. I have read all of the previous postings regarding
the WiSIP and most of the information apparently does not apply to the
version of firmware installed on my phone (version WF.00.0F).
I cannot get the WiSIP to register with my Asterisk box. It leases an IP
from my DHCP server, then

Data through T1, nethdlc
Hello all,
My set up is a fractionated t1, with 1-6 voice channels, 21-24 data
channels. I have a t100P installed in a amd 1500 with 512meg.
Question:
In order to set up the data channels, is the following correct?
1) compile new kernel with generic hdlc support
2) compile hdlc from hq.pm.waw.pl/hdlc
3) uncomment KFLAGS+=DConfig_ZAPATA_NET in zaptel makefile
4) compile zaptel,

Adtran TA750 Noise
All,
I need help.
I have an (actually 2) Adtran TA750's with 8 FXO ports. I get a terrible
buzz on every FXO port. If I unplug the Adtran and put an analog phone
on each incoming line, I have no buzz.
I also have 2 Carrier Access Access Bank I's with 12 FXO ports. When I
plug the same analog lines into either one of those, no noise or buzz
whatsoever.
I went so far as to move the TA750
