Cisco 7941/7961 w/Firmware 8.2.1 and NAT
Hi all, I have a bunch of Cisco 7941's with SIP firmware 8.2.1 that work great on a LAN with Asterisk 1.2.x but fail miserably when trying to use them, through NAT, with a public Asterisk server. We have a bunch of Polycoms and Aastra phones that work great with NAT so I'm very familiar with NAT and Asterisk but not so much familiar with the Cisco phones although we did get them to work

Asterisk Now Beta 6 and CISCO IP 7910
Dear All, Thank you for taking the time to read my message. I have just installed Asterisk Now, and it seems to be up and running with no issues on my system. The problem I am facing, is that I cannot find anywhere in the web interface, to assign phones. I have a CISCO IP phone 7910 series, and I wish for this to connect to the asterisk box. What's the best way of going about this?

Newbie 2 PBX VOIP, protocol ?'s using Cisco 827 7910
I am replacing a dead pbx with *. There are four lines I will be using. There is a Cisco 827-4v already in place so I will move the lines from the pbx to it. I am working with Cisco 7910 phones and I understand they use the Skinny/SCCP protocol. I am not sure if I should use chan_skinny or chan_sccp? However my main question is with communication. Do I need to use the same protocol between the

Cisco 79xx users/consultants, 7970G color in particular share information (was: Re: asterisk-users Digest, Vol 44, Issue 3)
The documentation of how to use the 79xx series' phones and features with Asterisk is really hard to find and put together. The higher end phones like 7970 are more like converged PC+phone, a thin client to telephony and network apps. But it's really hard to target it as a development and deployment platform because the docs and techniques are so obscure. There seems to be a fair amount

Cisco 7910 Handsets: Skinny protocol?
Dear all. I have about 30 Cisco 7910 handsets, and my basic research has told me that they are not SIP based handsets. Not to worry for now, I just need them to connect to my asterisk server. They are giving me a bit of a hard time. Has anyone here had any experience on how to do this? Documentation on the internet is seriously lacking. Best regards, Mr Gabriel Ogunleye IT

Re: Problem converting a Cisco 7960 to SIP
Hello all, I've got myself into a bizzare situation that I can't seem to get myself out of... Was wondering if anyone had some advice that might get me 'over the hill' on this... Some background: PBX consists of an Asterisk box (running TrixBox), 4 Cisco 7960's, 2 Polycom IP500's, and now an additional Cisco 7960. The phones are all on a separate LAN. There is

Asterisk 1.4 + Cisco 7970
Hi All, I recently received my Cisco 7970 and have it up and running with 8.0.4 firmware, with asterisk 1.4. Seems to function pretty great so far, aside from a few issues. Here is what I have noticed so far, anybody have any fixes for these issues? 1. Contrary to the forums and lists I've been reading - the phone indeed does register. The little registration animation stays on the screen

Cisco contract for 7940/7960 firmware access
Maybe not the place for this but thought I'd post the info for others. I purchased a cisco 7960 off ebay and needed to convert to SIP for *. I know * supports SCCP but I wont go into that here. I'd read on voip-info.org that a contract could be purchased for approx $8 to allow me to download the firmware. I though, being in the UK, i'd get one through a reseller in the UK.

Obtaining Cisco Firmware painlessly?
Hi Everyone!, I'm not sure if my previous request went through or not...It got returned as not-deliverable??? Who knows! Anyway, I need to get hold of the Cisco Firmware to upgrade a 7910G to sip. I know it can be a real pain in the butt getting hold of the firmware, so any help in obtaining it relatively fast and painlessly would be much appreciated. Cheers M. -------------- next

Cisco 7960 can't make/receive calls
I've got three 7960s running v6 SIP firmware. My Asterisk setup has worked fine with grandstream devices, and basically, we're just upgrading to use nicer phones. Whilst I can make/receive calls from the 7960 to/from gossiptel). When I try to place a call, I get the following Jan 21 11:09:23 NOTICE[19688]: chan_sip.c:7271 handle_request: Failed to authenticate user "30"

Asterisk 1.4.5, Cisco 7960, call dropped when sip client put on hold/transfer
Hello, I've been racking my brain over this for much of the day so I thought the list would probably be more helpful. A few days ago I upgraded from Asterisk 1.2 to Asterisk 1.4.5. Everything appeared to be working properly. However, on the first business day, we realized that when transferring calls (not using call parking, using the built in transfer buttons on a Cisco 7960) would not

Cisco 7914 Expansion Unit (for 7960G IP Phone) & Help With 7960's Speed-dials
Hi, Has anybody been successful in running the 7914 expansion unit for the Cisco 7960G IP phone? For anybody unaware of what the expansion unit does, it provides 14 additional buttons, with an LCD display. The idea, is that with an expansion unit (a 7960 can take upto 2 of these units), a user can either assign more speed-dial's, or can monitor line status/account status. So, you can

Cisco SIP license?
In order to use a cisco phone and the SIP image, do you need a license, or just the firmware. Is this like saying that you can get music, all you need is something like kazza? Or if you get the phone and the image are you legit? What does it take to get the lic? Can't configure Cisco 7942 avec factory reset
Hi, (I think) I followed instructions here ( http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Firmware+issues+on+7940+-+7960 section "Notes added Nov 2005, revised May 2006:" at the bottom of the page) to factory reset a Cisco 7942 I wanted to configure to SIP firmware. When booting, I can see this requesting and obtaining file term42.default.loads from TFTP server. Then it would send a request

Cisco 7910 compatibility
Hello, I'm looking at getting some Cisco 7910G+SW phones through a local liquidator. Is anyone currently using these with asterisk? Any special limitations with this one as compared to the 7940 and 7960's? Will they work with SIP or are they stuck in Cisco-land with Call-Manager only? Thanks, MATT---

Cisco 7941G-GE with Asterisk and CTPSEP odyssee
I have just got a Cisco 7941G and am experiencing the exact same problem (phone is requesting .tlv file from TFTP server and never asks for .cnf.xml file). The phone originally had SCCP on it, but I downloaded and flashed with the latest Cisco SIP image (8.4(3) released 2009-01-13). In reading your message below, it looks like you were going to try an incremental upgrade?did you have any
