This may seem obvious or silly but have you tried using a different phone cord? A bad phone cord played havoc on a colleague of mine during initial config. Fro what you show as your output from ztcfg, you should have one channel configured successfully then. Your example shows you have the channel set to one so no problem there. If you run ZAP SHOW CHANNELS from the CLI what do you see? W

Hello all, There's been a consistent problem with Asterisk and a telephone line which has been answered by someone or someone that has placed an out going call. My configuration is a X100P that is plugged in with a telephone line that is split between it and a small Panasonic PBX. Asterisk is used strictly for voicemail. While the phone is off-hook, it will repeatedly go through this loop:

I still have problems with beeps and clicks on all my calls. I have polycom sip phones. I also can hear the beeps and clicks on some of my messages, which would lead me to believe that it is more of a decoding problem on the zaptel card. Any ideas? Thanks Sean Garland

from both DC: dig google.com dig @8.8.8.8 google.com First dig will use resolvers declared into /etc/resolv.conf. Second dig forces usage of 8.8.8.8. It's samba internal DNS. Only one DNS zone, and it's domain.domain.tld. It'll function perfectly, and then cease to function at a random time.
