bug(let): openssh v4.3p2 'ok' out-of-box; 'configure' does not survive 'autoreconf'
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
hi,
building OPENSSH v4.3p2 on OSX 10.4.7, all's fine (config, nake,
install, exec) out-of-the-box. so, to be clear, this is NOT a blocker,
by any stretch ...
that said, however ...
if, instead of a don't-monkey-with-it build, prior to ./configure, i:
autoreconf -i -f
then, a subsequent:
./configure \

standard install on OS 10.3.9 crashes on start without useful diagnostics (PR#8500)
Full_Name: Bob Donahue
Version: 2.2
OS: Mac OS 10.3.9
Submission from: (NULL) (204.152.13.26)
That's pretty much it. I did the most basic install possible, tried running the
package through the GUI and on the command line, it crashed hard, immediately,
with absolutely NO useful information as to WHY it crashed.
To reproduce:
1) get the installer for OS X
2) install in the default places

Does not run under Mac OS X 10.3.9 (PR#7975)
Full_Name: Matthias Wahl
Version: 2.0.1 and 2.1.0a
OS: Mac OS X 10.3.9
Submission from: (NULL) (84.159.39.159)
Version 2.1.0a does get installed, R is available under applications,
however when trying to start R I get an error message that R is terminated
due to an error and that's it. Re-installing didn't help at all.
Then I tried Version 2.0.1. and there I don't even get an icon

R for Mac 10.3.9
I know nothing of Macintosh, so please be patient.
My student has a Macintosh with OSX 10.3.9. The R for Mac says it is
for 10.4.4 or higher.
Aside from saying "get a new Mac," what can be said to my student?
Can you point me at the newest version of R that did work on 10.3 ?

R for Mac OS X: 10.3.9 is obsolete?
Dear all,
I am highly disappointed of the following decision:
===
... Starting with R 2.3.0, CRAN binaries support Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) and higher only.
===
Of course,
===
It is, however, possible to compile binaries for earlied OS X versions from sources.
===
But the process, described on
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/macosx/RMacOSX-FAQ.html#Building-R-from-sources consists of more than

Making rsync compile under Mac OS X 10.3.9 with extended attributes
Somebody knows if it's possible to compile rsync (version 3 would be
great, but can be 2.6.x) under Mac OS X 10.3.9 with extended attributes?
Under OS 10.3.9 the Apple shipped rsync have not yet the -E argument
option. RsyncX have a double free bug that is annoying. "Q" rsync
2.6.6 with extended attributes binary only works on 10.4 and above.
I have tried to compile rsync

r version 2.1.0 and graphics in mac os 10.3.9
I use mac os 10.3.9 and I've installed in my computer R 2.1.0 (I
believe this is the latest R version).
Although it works alright when I open R by clicking in the R icon, I
cannot use the graphics facility when I open R from a X-terminal window
(or x-11 window).
In fact, when I try to open R I get the message that I pasted below.
Is this a R bug?
Is R assuming that I should have the

Testing for the 4.4p1 release
Hi,
The 4.4p1 release is approaching now, so we are now asking people to
actively test snapshots or CVS and report back to the mailing list.
Snapshots are available from http://www.mindrot.org/openssh_snap or
from any of the mirrors listed on http://www.openssh.org/portable.html
The latter page also includes instructions for checking out portable
OpenSSH via anonymous CVS.

Problem of updating openssh-4.4p1 to openssh-5.5p1 with MAX_ALLOW_USERS option
Hello!
We have the server with RHEL 5.5 (64-bit) and need to connect many parallel users over ssh (OpenSSH).
Usually we use openssh-4.4p1, builded from the sources with changed "servconf.h" file by this type:
???#define MAX_ALLOW_USERS ????????10000 ????/* Max # users on allow list. */
???#define MAX_DENY_USERS ???????????10000 ????/* Max # users on deny list. */

Patch: Unix Domain Socket Forwards for 4.4p1
I've updated the streamlocal patch for OpenSSH 4.4p1.
http://www.25thandclement.com/~william/projects/streamlocal.html
This patch allows for local and remote forwards, to and from Unix domain
sockets. Simply specify the socket path, enclosed within squares braces
(i.e. -L[/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432]:[/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432]) as the origin and/or
destination of the -R and -L switches. This patch also
