According to the authors of the original advisory, this is _definitely_

Many sources into one stream
Hi,
is it possible to mix several sources and broadcast them as one stream?
What exactly do I want to do? Two people are speaking at the same time
to their microphones (obviously not at the same machine) and these two
sources are being mixed somehow and broadcasted through one mountpoint.
Is there any chance for this to work?

rsync copies same files over and over
Each time I run rsync it copies the same files even though I haven't
made any changes. I doesn't copy all the files each time, just the same
ones each time I run the command. I run rsync with the following command:
rsync --verbose --stats --recursive user@host::directory directory
The local system is Suse linux 9 and the remote system is Windows 2000
server. I have the same results

openssh & solaris (part 2)
this patch will allow PAM authentication when using sun's pam_krb5 before
pam_unix in the PAM stack. without this patch a pam.conf entry like:
sshd auth sufficient /usr/lib/security/$ISA/pam_krb5.so.1
sshd auth required /usr/lib/security/$ISA/pam_unix.so.1 try_first_pass
would fail with the error "input_userauth_info_response_pam: no

firewalling SMB (and other protocols)
I looked around and couldn't find a page on firewalling samba.
So I did the homework and wrote one:
http://travcom.tripod.com/firewalls_and_protocols.html
Please send me (directly or CC) any technical suggestions, as I will
probably not read the list for very long.

Problem with db_schema_import and MySQL timestamp!
Hi,
This post concerns a SQL error while I try to import a schema into MySQL

Load-balancing with multipath routes (1 NIC + 2 GWs)
Greetings,
I''m trying to set up some sort of load-balancing on a Linux (Trustix)
gateway by using multipath routes, however I''m stuck with some problems.
The idea is that this gateway (odd as it may seem) only has one external
interface, which should route packets to two different gateways (Ciscos).
The gateway''s external interface and the routers are all on the same

Users Cannot Use smbpasswd to Change Samba Passwords
Running Samba 2.0.3 on a Digital Unix 4.0D system. All functions of the
new Samba version appear to run properly (previously ran 1.9.15) with
exception of users being able to change their own Samba password
(root is only able to change password on behalf of users).
Following is permissions assigned to smbpasswd:

recover lvm from pv
I have a vanilla CentOS 5.9 system. I have a pair of 2Tb sata drives with a RAID 1 array on them. This array contains an LVM physical volume. I have added these two drives to my
system and now need to access the volume group on this physical volume. This volume group, vg0, contains 10 ext3 file systems and I need to get the data from them.
What do I know:

DAHDI CDR problem
Hello gang,
We just got MaBell to turn on our callerid. I tested the
capability with a southwest bell box and a plain phone, so I know the line
is sending the signal. I'm running Asterisk SVN-branch-1.4-r204834 using a
TDM400P card. Here is my dahdi_cfg -vv output:

PAM keyboard-interactive
The following patch (relative to -current) makes PAM a proper
kbd-interactive citizen. There are a few limitations (grep for todo), but
the code seems to work OK for protocols 1 & 2 with and without privsep.
Please have a play!
auth2-pam.c is based on code from FreeBSD.

rpart vs. randomForest
Greetings. I'm trying to determine whether to use rpart or randomForest
for a classification tree. Has anybody tested efficacy formally? I've
run both and the confusion matrix for rf beats rpart. I've looking at
the rf help page and am unable to figure out how to extract the tree.
But more than that I'm looking for a more comprehensive user's guide
