scp/sftp user failures on HP-UX
Hi, I have an HP server with OpenSSH 3.1p1, on which the scp and sftp are giving strange failures. For example: scp, ssh and sftp works fine only for the root user. But for a normal user account only the ssh part works, the scp and sftp fails to connect. I am running UX 11i. Any help wil be appreciated. -- "To learn is a natural pleasure" - Aristotle

visual event programming in R
Hello, One of my students is building a visual environment for the package dprep developed by my research group at the University of Puerto Rico. The environment will be in the style of the Orange (specifically channels and tokens design) and Weka (specifically Knowledge flow environment) machine learning/data mining software. She is using only the tools provided by tcl/tk (active

no output when run densityplot...
Hi, I have downloaded a R script from http://www.wessa.net/rwasp_edauni.wasp#output. This script produces a densityplot graphic, amongst others, when is executed from the web page. However, when I run it in my machine the *densityplot* function produces any output, I mean a blank graphic. But, it's interesting if I run the following lines in the R interactive console: > y <-

is there a script to find a message from a given username easily?
Hello people, I used primarily mutt and sendmail for many years. (And elm before mutt.) All my mail was saved into ~/Mail. Messages from, say, smith at foo.ber were stored in ~/Mail/smith; all mail from smith was catenated into one file, and if I wanted to find something that smith had written, I would just cd to ~/Mail and grep or egrep on a likely word or phrase. Is there a script

Cross-Subnet Browsing Problem
Hi all, I've had cross-subnet browsing working in Samba in the past, though I tend to struggle with it each time I set it up. For whatever reason, I can't seem to get things working this time. Summary: Only my desktop, not the file server, shows up in the desktop's Network Neighborhood. (I have left the machines running for several hours, in case there's a time-to-sync issue

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Ista! Thanks a lot for your support!! It puzzles me because it?s the first time that something like this happens to me. I?m aware that root and user don?t have the same environmental variables here. However, I don?t know why root chooses Java 9 and my user chooses Java 10. Isn?t Java 10 ready to be used as a root? It seems that we are going to have to wait until rJava releases a new

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Don't waste too much time on this. It is due to a change introduced in Java 10 at short notice. I believe the rJava maintainers are working on a fix/workaround. -pd > On 31 Mar 2018, at 10:22 , John <jwd at surewest.net> wrote: > > On Tue, 27 Mar 2018 22:25:33 +0300 > Luis Puerto <luiss.puerto at gmail.com> wrote: > > I don't run a Mac so this may not

Domain-name appended into username when "selecting users or groups"
Dear all, I am facing a peculiar situation: on my smb.conf log level = 5, and on my windows machine I log on as a local administrator to add remote desktop users that are in fact domain users. When my worgroup = SOMETHING, everything works fine. When I change my worgroup to: workgroup = example.com, and try to add a new remote desktop user, and set as an object name example.com\user and try
