ipmasqadm port forwarding ipportfw (HOWTO)
Hi All, born out of frustration with conflicting info on the net, I thought I'd share a simple guide to set up the port forwarding side of masquerading... this presumes you already have basic ipchains setup and simple masquerading of internal machines installed. PORT FORWARDING USING IPMASQADM. “Ipmasqadm” supercedes the “ipportfw” feature. 1 - Upgrade to Kernel 2.2.12-20 if not already

hello, i built an ssh 2.5.1p2 package for solaris. it's installed into /usr/local (with sysconfdir=/etc) on an administrative host with write access to /usr/local. other hosts nfs mount /usr/local. i had a script copy the following files generated from the package install into each host's /etc directory: primes ssh_prng_cmds sshd_config ssh_config then ran

RE: No subject by Steve M
Just responding in case this may be of help to somebody with firewalling issues. Not sure if this is off on a tangent to the original question... Here are three different forms of common firewall scripts and ways of getting SIP to work behind them. The third one has some additional stuff beyond just SIP although I can't remember why I wrote it that way. I've been having no fun using

ssh-add won't look for id_dsa in ssh-clients-2.3.0p1-4 but did in ssh-clients-2.5.1p2-1
I've been running ssh-clients-2.3.0p1-4 on RedHat 7.0 and upgraded to 2.5.1p2-1 yesterday from ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/rpm/SRPMS/. I noticed that 2.5.1p2-1 ssh-add won't look for id_dsa.pub by default -- if I have no identity file it just says "/home/klotz/.ssh/identity: No such file or directory" The 2.5.1p1-1 I got from RedHat's rawhide site

Segfaults with ssh from Red Hat 6.2 openssh-clients-2.5.1p2-1.i386.rpm
The segfault logged below occurs on two different Red Hat 6.2 systems running OpenSSH installed from the 2.5.1p2 RPM. (Similar problems occured with the 2.5.1p1 RPM.) The most recent of the Red Hat 6.2 systems tested is stock except for an upgrade of rpm-3.0.5-9.6x.i386.rpm and the install of Red Hat's release of openssl-0.9.5a-3.i386.rpm, both necessary for the OpenSSH RPM install. tinc vs. ipchains masquerading
Howdy, I tried tackling this on irc with Ivo, but I suspect that irc may really not be the best medium for technical discussions, so I'll reprise it here. I am trying to duplicate the "tinc from behind a masquerading firewall" example from the tinc web site: (home) <--> (masquerading firewall) <--> (office) 192.168.1.21 192.168.1.1/1.2.3.4

ssh_exchange_identification
Guys, I think that I have ran into a bug. I am running openbsd 2.8 and I upgraded to the lastest verison of openssh 2.9 but when I did that it started giving me this error "ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host" when I try to log into the machine even when I am on the machine and try to ssh localhost it gives me the same message. I have read every FAQ I could find

ipmasqadm and default route on masqueraded host
Hi, I''m running a Debian 2.2r2 on a university server with 3 public ip on one ethernet card (but soon we will have three cards). There''s a tunnel (implemented with vtund on a tun interface with local address 192.168.1.10 and remote 192.168.1.20) from this server to another server without public ip and behind a router. I wanted to make the second server visible to the world, so

intermittent ssh connect error
We've got set of servers that use AFD (http://www.dwd.de/AFD) to scp files to a set of receiving servers. There are about 25 sending machines, and 12 receiving machines. All the servers are RHEL 4 and 5, with the senders running openssh 4.3p2, and the receivers running 3.9p1. Most files are sent without a problem, but on a pretty regular basis, we get "ssh_exchange_identification:

Problem in sshconnect.c?
Hey all, I installed OpenSSH on a redhat 6.0 box using the 1.2.2 i386 rpms, and I can't connect to it from other machines. I edited the sshd_config file and changed the ListenAddress from 0.0.0.0 to the machine's IP number. The error I have been getting at first confused me, so I checked out the code, and found the function in the sshconnect.c file. The strange thing is that sometimes

Name based SSH proxy
I am working on a proxy which can be hosted on a single IP address and dispatch requests to different backends depending on which hostname the client used to connect to this IP address. Currently such a proxy can be build to support HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, and DNS. However SSH support is impossible due to the ssh client not sending the information such a proxy would need. I am not the first to want

issue with openssh-server running in a libvirt based centos virtual machine
Hi, I have a very strange ssh issue, and I do not know how to solve it. I have a centos VM (managed by libvirt) running the latest centos 7 and latest openssh server package (debug1: sshd version OpenSSH_7.4, OpenSSL 1.0.2k-fips 26 Jan 2017). When I ssh remotely to this centos VM (using latest putty 0.70 and other ssh clients as well), I do not get a login prompt whatsoever. I used

Lets try this push again.. 2.5.1p2 bugs left.
Things that are still outstanding: 1) Solaris/Redhat/HPUX session.c patch. I've not seen a ya or na on Kevin's pam patch from the Solaris group. 2) Odd Redhat/Debian scp/ssh issues. .. I'm baffled, and I can't replicate the bug. Nor have I seen anything remotely like it reported. 3) SCO.. Is it happy yet for compiling? =) Completed: 1) mdoc2man.pl .. Commited into
