SNAP 20010213 Bug: ssh-agent environment
Hi,
JFYI, I discovered the following bug in SNAP 20010213 ssh-agent:
It does not inherit its environment if it is invoked as

Usage: ssh-agent [-c | -s] [-k] [command {args...]]

INBOX stored in AFS
Hello,
currently we are storing the incoming mail in the user's home directory,
which is within a distributed filesystem called AFS (OpenAFS).
Accessing the "mbox" file directly (using the distributed filesystem)
works fine with mutt, thunderbird, ...
To access the INBOX from a machine, which does not have access to this
distributed filesystem, we are using IMAP (UW-imap).
Now I

Defining the "random" term in function "negbin" of AOD package
I have tried glm.nb in the MASS package, but many models (I have 250 models
with different combinations of predictors for fish counts data) either fail
to converge or even diverge.
I'm attempting to use the negbin function in the AOD package, but am unsure
what to use for the "random" term, which is supposed to provide a right hand
formula for the overdispersion parameter.

France has their (first?) SIP carrier with "unlimited" calls for 6eu/mo
Asterisk must have a reasonably large community here in France judging
from the number of people who came out to meet Mark. Either that or we
were ALL there :)
Something I've been waiting for, a voIP carrier on the models we are
used to (low monthly or pay as you go, web account) has just set up
their first beta test for 1 euro for the first month, 6euros if you
decide to keep it. The basic

Non-Executable Stack Patch
I was wondering if there's any non-executable stack patch for
FreeBSD's kernel.
I searched in google but all I got was some questions in
freebsd-security back from 2001 and an answer saying someone
heard about a project like this, but no information at all.
Is there any patch like PaX or Openwall available for FreeBSD?
I dont want to discuss if its useless or not since there're a

Help setting up SSL?
Hi,
Sorry to bother, I don't know if this mailing list is the right place to
look for help setting up dovecot.. Anyway I've got standard IMAP working
fine, and I used mkcert.sh after editing the openssl config, and it seemed
to work properly (I had to change some directories, I am using the FreeBSD
5.1-CURRENT port)..
Anyway, when I try to connect using Outlook, here is what the log

Replication .dovecot-sync.lock
Hello all,
I have set up two servers with dovecot and replication. The mail location is
mail_location = sdbox:/var/spool/mail/%u
Everything works fine when I override the homedirectories
userdb {
driver = passwd
override_fields = home=/var/spool/mail/%u
}
But, when I do not override the homedirectories, replication does not work,
and the following error is logged:

flagging glm models with warnings
I'm attempting to run 250 permutations of a negative binomial GLM model for
data on fish counts. Many of the models are fit appropriately, but some
issue warnings such as "convergence not reached" or "step size truncated due
to divergence." I've attempted using glm.nb from the MASS package and the
negbin function from the AOD package, but both still cause some models to

A man-in-the-middle attack is not easy to pull off. If you can show me
why some person would be incented to attack someone like this, then
maybe there is a case for it.

dmz setup
I am trying to add a machine into my dmz. It is the first machine I''ve
ever added to this dmz and fro some reason I cannot establish
communication between the dmz and the machine.
Here is an example of my setup:
ISP router --> firewall (eth0)
firewall (eth1) --> local network
firewall (eth2) --> DMZ
eth0 and eth2 have public IP addresses as does the machine I just added

Port 445 & Port 139 banned
Because of security reasons, my school has blocked tcp port 445 and 139.
This make it impossible to for my window xp desktop to the remote samba service on Linux.
Although the samba sercie on Linux and change its port by a "-p" option. But windows always
look for 445 and 139 port.
I've tried a lot of ways to work it out including local port redirection but none of them works.

Is fixpaths the only perl dependency?
Hello.
I just tried to download and build the 2.3.0.p1
(portable) release with Cygwin on an NT box.
It fails to build because of the use of a perl
script. Cygwin does not have Perl installed
by default and to be honest it seems like
a bit of a stretch to require perl to be
able to build shh, that just makes it harder
to build.
I poked around and it seems like these files
depend on perl:

Use of xvfb : X11 cannot allocate additional graphics colors. Consider using colortype="pseudo.cube" or "gray"
Hi,
I use R in remote access on a Debian server.
I need X11() to create graphical things so I use xvfb-run (Virtual X server
environnement) R to allowing X11() capabilities to R.
An other technique is to connect in shh -X to execute my R script.
With the connection ssh -X, my R script is well executed. BUT when I use Xvfb,
some graphics are created but an error occured and stop the script.

SSH authentication order on AIX
I'm trying to get to the bottom of an issue with key authentication on
AIX and I'm not sure I believe IBM's answer so I thought I'd post here
to see what answer I'd get from the SSH side.
We have three different methods of authentication - local, VAS (AD),
NIS. On our Linux and Solaris servers it's very simple to set the
authentication order with nsswitch.conf and SSH
