Authentication Problem
Hi Folks,
I got a little problem with authentication. I set up samba 3.0.0 and squid
2.5stable4, using winbind to
authenticate users via group with the nt4 domain pdc.
Anyway... sometimes the authorization/authentication doesn't work.
In the first test I had no problems surfing the net via proxy, and some
minutes later I get an access denied message with the same user... so this

Solaris/PAM/AFS: can't make it work
Greetings,
I know this has been discussed (pretty much since 3.7.1) and I have
been going through the archives trying to make sense of it but I am
still having problems getting 3.8.1p1 to work with PAM and AFS on
Solaris 8.
The problem (for those who may have missed it):
When I try and log in as an AFS user to a Solaris 8 box running
3.8.1p1, I can authenticate to the machine but do not

Using SIP stack within Asterisk to reboot phones - Possible?
Hi Everyone,
I use Asterisk for regularPBX use it's made for. But I want to take it a bit
further and use it at cmmand level to be able to send SIP notifies to
restart a phone or take advantage of a phone's UPnP capabilities. Is
Asterisk capable of that? If so, what is a simple SIP reboot message like
and how can I invoke it from a Asterisk CLI?
If Asterisk is not the best tool for this

Win98 clients accessing Samba file server.
HI All
I'm in the process of setting up my first Linux box at work, a basic file
server for all 20+ Win clients (I'm sick of paying M$ CAL) all have a 'home'
directory and all share a 'shared' directory. What my problem is, everything
is working OK with WinXP/2000 I can see the shared directory and our own
home directory on the Samba box.
With Win98 I can only see and

Exception loop. Covered to some extent in:

For some reason, all pages in the Wine Wiki (like the above) is
_fucking_ impossible to find with Google.
I don't know why, but I think it might be because all the pages have

ggplot2: Changing colour scheme for bar plot filling?
Hello,
I'd like to sitch to a monochrome/bw color-palette for the filling of
geom_bar-bars (produced via "qplot" as in the example below). Hours of
googling didn't yield anything useful, so I thought, I'd just ask ...

Two Machines and Samba
Here's the sitch: I have a RH 6 machine and an NT 4.0 SP3 machine that I
want to use Samba to make the Linux box space available to the NT client.
There is no DNS, and there is no Internet connection. Each of the two
machines has a "dummy IP", specifically 192.168.255.253 (NT) and
192.168.255.254 (Linux). Trying to browse on the NT box results in either

Zap callwaiting hookflash idiosyncracy/flaw?
Don't know what else to call this. Googling and some time on the IRC
channel haven't gotten me anywhere.
Here's the sitch, which is a bit complicated but is something my
customers are in fact encountering on an everyday basis:
1. Bob is on a Zap channel talking through the PSTN to Carol. Both have
the misfortune, like so many of us, of having LECs who do not offer

Explanation of "alias_method"
Hi!
I''m trying to extend ActiveRecord''s find method (Rails 1.0, Ruby 1.8.2),
but I recognize a strange behaviour of the "alias_method" call.
I wrote a very simple script to explain my problem:

module ActiveRecordExtension
def self.included(base)
base.extend(ClassMethods)

The problem is all my images over 10Mb will fail to load with memdisk.(test pc is a P4 2.4Ghz with 512Mb ram )
With Bochs, i'm using hard disk images and they're bootable in Bochs and well detected by memdisk but won't boot. I even tried to boot on some other support after a failling memdisk boot to see if there were the files i put in the hard disk image and they were here.
