How to cleanly remove a DC from Samba domain?
I used Apache Directory Studio to remove the "RID Set" node and after that a simple "samba-tool computer delete DC2" worked just fine.
Perhaps the version of Samba in TurnKey Linux V16.1 has a bug (4.9.5-Debian)? Likely demotion should remove leaf nodes from domain controllers as part of the process.
I have now recreated DC2 using TurnKey Linux V17.1 (4.17.6-Debian) and so

Turnkey Samba 4 Solutions?
H - I'm a Resara Server user - Resara Server was a turnkey Samba 4 system.
I have been lurking on this list, trying to decide what way to go for the
future. I've seen some post regarding moving from Resara, but I'm not sure
if I want to "get my hands dirty" - I've enjoyed the simplicity of Resara.
Are there any other turnkey Samba solutions? Or simple cookbook solutions?

Hello:
I am using kvm on a CentOS 5.4 server.
I am trying to install the TunkeyLinux Core appliance
found here: http://www.turnkeylinux.org/core
I downloaded the ISO file from the web site.
Then, I used this command to intall it:
virt-install -n tkl-core -r 512 --vcpus=1 --check-cpu --os-type=linux
--os-variant=ubuntuhardy -v --accelerate
-c /tmp/turnkey-core-2009.10-hardy-x86.iso

Samba as an active directory
Dear,
After a few attempts I now have my first Samba installed and running as active directory (on Debian-Turnkey)
Topics I struggle with are not Samba itself, yet.
I seek help to clarify wat is failing, what I did wrong or did not do yet.
1. Joining the domain: fails to resolve SRV type record for \_ldap.\_tcp.dc.\_msdcs.<domain> (typos here are mine, correct on machine)
2. Fail of 1 is

Turnkey alternatives to fonality or switchvox?
Hey all,
First-time poster and been following the list for some time. Great
postings, all...
Currently we're implementing the voipconnection vs-1 for a customer.
It's a decent device, and the included admin interface leaves a lot to
be desired... The idea of the storing settings compact flash is nice,
although sometimes they choose not to stick. All in all, we're thinking

IP addressing migration
Hi,
I am changing the IP addressing in my centOS server which works as mail
server. The question I have is, if I define the new IP addresses
(sub-interfaces) on the server, can I work with both ranges at the same time
despite I have only one default gateway configured? (on the old range)
Or may I have two default gateways in centOS?

Replace primary DC
Following this thread:
https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2025-April/251400.html
We currently have 3 Samba (dc2, dc3, dc4) currently installed as
secondaries for dc1, they are installed from debian 12 backports while
dc1 is from a Turnkey Linux using an old version of samba, webmin,
etc...
I'm thinking about reinstalling to homogenize the infra. Is this the
right way to do it:

sys-unconfig
Does sys-unconfig work as advertised in 4.x? Meaning that if I have a
fully configured box on my internal net and run sys-unconfig, will
I be able to power up the node on a totally different network
and have things work providing I answer the questions properly.
Most typically this will mean taking a box that is using
NIS in DNS domain A, NIS domain B, and static IP addr and move
it to DNS

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all,
I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in
a plug computer, using Ices2.
I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping
of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead
easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a
button and you're live.
It accepts any Debian

Large issue - having trouble diagnosing.
Hello,
I am having a lot of trouble with my deployment of Asterisk. I am running
the PBX-In-a-flash turnkey of Asterisk and ever since deployment I have had
many different problems. I have managed to get all issues sorted out as I go
along, until this one that randomly began last week.
We are using Grandstream GXP 2000 Handsets in the office, and at TE110P card

Xapian packages in rpmforge?
hello folks!
i've recently joined the rpmforge maintainers; given that Tim Brody
has already written specfiles for RHEL4 and RHEL5, would you be
interested in my adding the xapian packages to rpmforge? this would
eliminate (or at least reduce) the need for you to maintain a separate
repository and would mean that many users (those who have already
configured their systems to pull

Windows Firefox for running abc.com videos
I am trying to get Windows Firefox v2.0.0.14 to run abc.com videos (to watch Lost episodes). I am currently using Ubuntu 8.04, with Wine 0.9.60. It crashes in trying to start to run a video. It will browse OK, and even make it to the abc.com site. However, when I try to run a video, it crashes. specific error is:

Looking for a RAID1 box
I have found a:
HPE 873830-S01 ProLiant MicroServer Gen10

It has 4 3.5" bays. and 1? "Media" bay?

this could well be acceptable.? Got to find out power draw.? Looks like

STUN with one public and one private IP?
I'm finishing up deploying an Asterisk (Trixbox) box at work. Wow, I
thought Asterisk was cool by itself, but Trixbox has made just about
everything turnkey. Great stuff!
So... we're using Grandstream GXP-2000 handsets to connect to the Trixbox,
which sits on our DMZ with a single public IP. I need the phones to work
from random places behind NAT, as well as in the office. I'm using
