setres[gu]id implicit decl warning on Linux glibc
Hi,
With recent snapshots, I noted a warning in compilation on Red Hat Linux
7.3 system with glibc 2.2.5:
uidswap.c: In function `permanently_set_uid':
uidswap.c:155: warning: implicit declaration of function `setresgid'
uidswap.c:168: warning: implicit declaration of function `setresuid'
The problem appears to be that these should be prototyped in unistd.h, but
aren't. There

1.0-test51
http://dovecot.org/test/
This release is built with autoconf 2.59 and libtool 1.9. We'll see how
it works out :) The required changes were done by Matthias Andree.
- The last fix for connection hanging made IDLE use 100% CPU
- We don't use Maildir/.INBOX/ directory anymore, indexes are stored
in Maildir-root
- Don't crash with FETCH BODY[n.MIME]

AD auth + local unix groups: access denied?
Hi,
I have an access problem related to local unix groups on a FC2 box
running the samba-3.0.10-1.fc2 rpms.
The goal is to have a read-only share with sub-folders accessible only
by one user. All users lised in a local unix group "admin" shall have
access to all folders. The samba box uses an external active directory
machine for authentication. Winbind is running on the machine.

rlimit sandbox on cygwin
Hi all.
I have an old windows VM with an oldish cygwin that I use for the
regression tests. Investigating one of the test failures, I see that
it's for UsePrivilegeSeparation=sandbox, and it seems to be because
setrlimit(RLIMIT_FSIZE, ...) is not supported.
IMO, this isn't a big loss, since the most useful thing in the rlimit
"sandbox" is the descriptor limits. Can anyone see

Various platforms
Hello,
I've been compiling OpenSSH up on just about every platform that I can
get my hands on. I am not certain of the best way of building my
'fixes' into the source tree, not least of all since I didn't worry about
#ifdef's or the configure scripts. However hopefully this will be of use
to you. This is all for openssh-2.2.0p1 compiled alongside
openssl-0.9.5a and

Append -lresolv to LIBS early on Reliant Unix
libresolv isn't checked until late in configure, and if it's needed the it's
*prepended* to LIBS.

Closing sessions and smbstatus
Hi,
When are client sessions closed?
Let me explain what I'm trying to do... we're in a School district and
we try to stop kids logging more than once. They way I did this before
was to dump the active sessions from our previous Server2003 fileserver
into a file once a minute and process it with a Perl script to check who
was connected from where, rebooting machines remotely as

bug(let): openssh v4.3p2 'ok' out-of-box; 'configure' does not survive 'autoreconf'
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
hi,
building OPENSSH v4.3p2 on OSX 10.4.7, all's fine (config, nake,
install, exec) out-of-the-box. so, to be clear, this is NOT a blocker,
by any stretch ...
that said, however ...
if, instead of a don't-monkey-with-it build, prior to ./configure, i:
autoreconf -i -f
then, a subsequent:

[PATCH v1 0/2] Support dropping of capabilities from early userspace.
This patchset applies to klibc mainline. As is it will probably collide
with Maximilian's recent patch to rename run-init to switch_root posted
last week.
To boot an untrusted environment with certain capabilities locked out,
we'd like to be able to drop the capabilities up front from early
userspace, before we actually transition onto the root volume.
This patchset implements this by

Fail to call AC_CACHE_CHECK on R 2.7.0 for Solaris
I've tried to build R 2.6.1 and 2.7.0 on Solaris 10 update 4 (SPARC) and
both configure ok, so you might ask why I suspect there is a problem.
I tried to build the maths program Sage
http://www.sagemath.org/
version 3.0.3alpha1. Sage fails when building R 2.6.1 - (Sage includes R
in the package). The relavant bit of Sage, which is only using an
unmodified R configure script is:

Bug in set_effective_uid on AIX 4.1.5 /4.3.2 Samba 2.0.3
Dear samba-Team,
The bug reported in PR#12819 for AXI 4.1.5 persits
also in samba 2.0.3.
The Bug prevents the connecting of other users as root to any
share.
I have a workaround/fix tested on AIX 4.1.5 ,4.3.2 with
gcc 2.8.1 here:
Change samba-2.0.3/source/lib/util_sec.c
funktion set_effective_uid like this:

Ldap.h missing in samba-3.0.0
I have downloaded samba-3.0.0.tar.bz2 (and samba-latest.tar.gz) and
attempted to run "./configure --with-ldapsam --with-winbind
--with-pam_smbpass --with-smbmount --with-ads --with-ldap"
Only to find that ./configure complains of a missing ldap.h file. Does
anyone else have this issue? I'm trying to do a simple setup to having a
Linux box communicate to my Windows 2000 Server PDC,
