Supervoice 2.6 comms program (for fax and voice etc) in wine
Has anybody had experience with installing Supervoice (2.6) fax/voice
software in wine?
I've installed it apparently OK (although I do seem to remember getting
some error on installation) - it seems to start to run OK, but with some
glitches! Each time, it wants to re-detect and configure the modem -
why?! Also, it shows me the messages (fax and voice) which were stored
in the modem (USR 56K

encrypting connection to Samba
Hello,
I've searched the Howtos, but I did not find anything, so I'm asking
this question onlist.
When are connections between Samba and the client encrypted? I run Samba
3.0.20a on a network with Windows XP SP2 and some Windows 98 machines.
- Are connections always encrypted? Are there any smb.conf settings I
have to make in order to get encryption working (server signing?)?

requiring logon for SIP users
Hello there,
I am playing around with Asterisk the first time and it really looks
great. ;-)
However, I have one problem: Any SIP device can connect to my PBX. How
can I requre logon for SIP users and deny access in the case of wrong or
missing credentials?
Thanks

Where are Windows file permissions stored and how to change them?
Hello there,
where are the Windows file permissions (i.e. ACL) stored when using Samba?
How can I change them from within Linux? Or is it only possible with the
Windows file permissions dialogue?
Thanks

setting up incoming PPP on centos 4.4
hi gang!
I'm interested in setting up incoming PPP on a system at work that has
a fresh (not upgrade) Centos 4.4 on it.
All the documentation I've found for that shows using mgetty to do it, and
seems pretty straightforward.
However, that machine doesn't have a binary named mgetty anywhere.
It does have a mgetty-sendfax RPM installed, but it does not provide a
binary named mgetty.

Digium E1/T1 card with mgetty+sendfax
Hi,
For the project I've used the Eicon DIVA card. It has 8 BRI ports,
and for about 25% of the time there are 7 or 8 in use. So we want
to replace it with an E1 card. Only issue is, replace it with what?
The idea we have been playing with was to get a Digium E1 card (we
already have bought lot of Quad E1 cards :-) and then just put it
back to back against Asterisk server. And instead of

Fedora FC1 RPMs
I've spent the morning looking at making some RPMs for Fedora Core 1
and run into a problem with GSSAPI. Basically the default install of
Fedora doesn't come with the necessary gssapi code to build the RPMs by
default (i.e. you need to say %define kerberos5 0 in openssh.spec).
Since Fedora is going to fork off from RedHat I was going to create a
set of patches to make a

modem for dial IN
Hi
Not entirely centos related but that what the boxes are running so here i
go ;)
2 of our centos boxes run nagios for network monitoring and send email and
paging alerts and are connected to standard phone lines using modems to
send the pages. I'm looking for a way in the event of provider failure to
login to these machines and so am looking at the ability to connect to the

getting OpenSSH/OpenSSL to utilize /dev/random
I've installed Sun's SUNWski package on Solaris 8 (32-bit) that provides a
/dev/random interface. It appears to as cat'ing it gives me a bunch of
well, random data.
However, when I ran my configure, it gives me the WARNING.RND message to the
effect that I'm using the built-in. I've seen allusions on this list to
building openssl with to get random support, so I rebuilt it

Hello,
Before anything else, I'm sorry about my bad english!
I'm using mgetty to provide a kind of RAS to my network... but I'm
unable to provide access to the samba through the modem...
This is my enviroment:
-Slackware 8.0
-Kernel 2.4.17
-Samba 2.2.3a
-Mgetty-1.1.28
-Iptables v1.2.5
What do I need to access my samba network through the modem?

Mgetty for out of band management - which modem?
Hi,
We're thinking of using Mgetty and a modem to allow us some out of band
management access to sites if the ADSL connection fails...
Just wondered if anyone had a recommended USB modem they've used on
Centos/Mgetty as Hayes compatible serial modems seem to be quite rare
these days?

PDC for XP: empty desktop and desktop.ini showing up
Hello there,
I'm trying to set up Samba as a PDC for Windows XP Professional (SP2).
It seems to work fine. Machine accounts are created automatically,
passwords between Unix and Samba users get synced, I can logon, profile
directories are created - but there's a problem.
I know that this is well-known, but it drives me crazy and I don't know
any solution.

OpenSSH and Redhat 8
John,
The following steps should work for you (or anyone buildling on a
RedHat box):
1) Get the official OpenSSH source RPM from
ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/rpm/SRPMS/openssh-3.7.1p2-1.src.rpm
2) Do 'rpmbuild --rebuild ./openssh-3.7.1p2-1.src.rpm' from where you
saved the file.
3) This should create the following files in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386:

fax software
It's been many years, but it seems that I have to receive a fax and
might have to send one too. Is there a way to do this on CentOS 5.5?
(Hope so.)

distribute/deploy software to clients
Hello,
I run a Windows domain based on Samba 3 and I am searching for a way to
distribute/deploy software to clients.
I.e., a user logging on to a client, software should be automatically
installed or upgraded. Is there any common solution? I heard of MSI
packages, but I don't know if it is necessary to create MSI packages of
all installations...
Thanks
