Building 3.0p1 on HPUX 10.2, gcc, zlib 1.1.4
Hi everybody,
I've never posted here before but I seem to be having a similar problem to
what Tim Rice had in July, namely when running the configure script I get
the following:
configure: error: *** zlib missing - please install first or check
config.log ***
However, I have definitely installed zlib (see below):
dngwks1:/tmp/openssh-3.0p1 # swlist
# Initializing...
# Contacting target

Please use openssh-unix-dev at mindrot.org for problems with OpenSSH Portable
(ie anything that's not OpenBSD).

Building 3.4p1 on HP-UX 11.00, gcc, zlib 1.1.4, OpenSSL 0.9.6d
Hey folks,
I am having a devil of a time compiling 3.4p1 on HP-UX
11.00. I'm running gcc 2.95.2, OpenSSL 0.9.6d, and zlib 1.1.4.
I have two questions, but here's the first... I am getting the dreaded:
*** zlib missing - please install first or check config.log ***
error when running configure, no matter what options I give it.
--with-zlib doesn't help at all - I've tried it

rsync 2.6.6pre1 released (ALERT: info on zlib security flaw)
There has been some talk about a zlib security problem that could let
someone overflow the buffers in the zlib decompression code, potentially
allowing someone to craft an exploit to execute arbitrary code. Since
this is a decompression bug, this can only affect an rsync daemon if
it allows uploads with the --compress option enabled.
If you run a daemon that allows uploads, you may wish to add

CentOS4 ClamAV reports zlib needs updating
I'm just about to update ClamAV to v0.86 on a CentOS4 box having
successfully done this on a 3.3 box but...
configure: error: The installed zlib version may contain a security bug.
Please upgrade to 1.2.2 or later: http://www.zlib.net. You can omit this
check with --disable-zlib-vcheck but DO NOT REPORT any stability issues
then!
Any expected probs with me doing this update from the site - I

[LLVMdev] CMake configuration: Detecting zlib.h header in windows.
Hi,
I have having hard time to let cmake configuration detect the zlib
header in windows with "Visual Studio 12" generator. My cmake
configuration goes like
>> Set path, include and lib environment variables to point to zlib
headers and libraries. Cmake version is 2.8.12.2
cmake -G "Visual Studio 12" -D LLVM_TARGETS_TO_BUILD:STRING=%TARG% -D

configure statement for R-devel with updated zlib in user account
I'm aware R-devel no longer includes zlib. This works find on
up-to-date Linux systems.
On the older Centos 6 cluster at KU, they have zlib tool old for
R-devel. The R-devel configure fails thus:
checking if zlib version >= 1.2.5... no
checking whether zlib support suffices... configure: error: zlib
library and headers are required
In other software, I've seen this kind of thing, so

zlib compression, the exploit, and OpenSSH
Attached is a zlib advisory and a debug dump of ssh with compression
enabled. Most of the debug is superflous, so I have underlined the two
points to look at. When creating an ssh connection, compression on the
line is done *before* authentication -- This means an unauthorized
attacker could, conceivable, leverage root access by connecting with to
the ssh server requesting zlib compression and

newer ZLIB and ZLIB-DEVEL
Greetings,
I have need of a newer ZLIB and/or maybe the ZLIB-DEVEL.
I need 1.2.2 or later and was told to go to www.zlib.net
On that site, it mentions...
zlib for Linux, both shared and static plus headers (RPM format, many
architectures)
so what I am wondering is this,
is there a new ZLIB coming down the "upstream" pipe now or quickly?
if there a specific YUM command to snag from
