syslinux boot configuration tester
I've begun working on a syslinux project with a portable usb drive. Up to this point I was a pxelinux.0 user only. My virtualmachine system (Oracle VirtualBox) can netboot so testing config file changes was no big deal. VBox is currently unable to boot from a usb drive despite documentation that says it is possible. Is there a windows based tool that can scan and test a syslinux

drive size limit for syslinux
I was working on making a 40gb laptop ide drive bootable via syslinux as the drive is in an external hd enclosure. syslinux installed on a 100 mb bootable fat32 partition and when I tried to boot from the drive, I got a syslinux prompt which was correct as I had not done a config file yet. I later found a 60GB laptop ide drive and put the larger drive in the enclosure and tried to install

serial console with virt-install
Hello, sorry for bother you again. I'm new to kvm and libvirt, that's why my next question is maybe some sort of noob question :) I have a headless server (no X at all, just ssh) and want to run some virtual machines on it. I have kvm etc. all set up. When doing something like virt-install --connect qemu:///system -n template -r 1024 --disk path=/data/vm/template.qcow2,format=qcow2

installing java on ubuntu 11.10 installation
Dear list members, I am starting to get acquainted with linux on a ubuntu 11.10 installation on an external hard disk. I have just installed R and all the packages available in the r-cran-* list. Now, I would like to get on with the installation of packages like Deducer and Acinonyx. The former requires JGR which in turn requires Java. I have tried to follow the instructions available at the

Keeping Camping going
Hello all, I''m not sure who Camping''s steward is at this point(zimbatm? _why?), but I haven''t seen much activity in quite some time. I really like Camping, and I understand open source projects can fall by the wayside. So, I''d be willing to take over maintenance and releasing. I have experience maintaining my own open source projects, and a history of

(Apologies for the potential duplicate post. My initial post had a smashed subject line. This post only adds the subject and this note.) I would like permission to edit this page. The changes I have in mind are: 1) It is not necessary to burn a CD/DVD to do a "headless" install in cases where the installed system has a monitor, but for some reason cannot support a graphical

substituting level for NA in factor column
Greetings I have a bunch of NAs in a column of categorical variables designating the size classes (e.g., smallest to largest: 1,2,3,4) of cave crickets. I'd like to substitute "U" (for unknown) for the NAs. Can anyone give me an idea how to do this? Thanks in advance. Headless WINE (nulldrv, winetty)
I'm running a headless Linux installation (FC11) on Amazon EC2 and need to run some console-based (no window) 32-bit DOS executables... I've been running this fine for the past couple years on another installation (FC10) with v1.1.23, by setting the "TERM" environment variable to "xterm" and I believe it ran the "tty" graphics-driver and worked just great.

Flags/tags lost when moving e-mails to another folder
I faced the same issue and had to change from maildir to sdbox storage. The imap labels are now stored centrally per folder in an index file and not the filename anymore. VirtualBox headless
Hello, I'm trying to use the VirtualBox/vbox driver together with libvirt 0.8.1 on a Ubuntu Lucid Machine, VirtualBox Release 3.1. The goal is to run the virtual machines headless and to connect using RDP. When starting a virtual domain using 'virsh start <domainname>' the GUI of VirtualBox will pop up and I see no option to prevent this. If X is not running, the virsh command

[LLVMdev] Some df_iterator and po_iterator issues
Chris, attached you will find a patch implementing the approach I've posted yesterday. I don't want the topic fall by the wayside*. *Note that this patch here contains the df_iterator changes only, some (IMHO non-critical but needed) po_iterator changes are still in the pipeline and posted by me in another thread. I hope, the current approach fits all needs. Chris Lattner schrieb:
