"sector read error" with 3.20-pre8 syslinux.com
Hi All, A colleague of mine is using syslinux-3.20-pre8, syslinux.com, under DOS to install syslinux loader. It gives "sector read error". He re-compiled syslinux.com under a linux box, and used it successfully to install the loader from DOS. He is installing it on a hard drive (C:) He booted from a floppy and ran: "syslinux.com C:" at A:\ prompt He tried with

Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
Sorry for the delay, we were too busy drinking and playing with explosives yesterday. :) Here are some tests. We did one on a similar machine and it worked. We deleted the configuration file, obviously. # Dell OptiPlex GX620 ISOLINUX 5.11 5.11-pre7 isolinux: Starting up, DL = 82 isolinux: Loaded spec packet OK, drive = 82 isolinux: Main image LBA = 00000115 isolinux: Image checksum error,

Syslinux 6.03-pre7: EFI64 broken (Gene Cumm)
Gene, Where did you find the precompiled binaries for syslinux 6.03-pre7? Actually, I'm interested in the pre-compiled binaries for syslinux 6.03-pre6. I went out to kernel.org, but the latest they have is 6.02. Which appears to have an endian problem in its TFTP client code (when syslinux.efi tries to connect to the TFTP server, attempts to connect to UDP port 17664 instead of 69).

Syslinux 5.00-pre6: call it a beta
I think the Syslinux 5.00 branch is now at the point where I believe it it is feature complete and should be able to replace the main Syslinux branch. As such, it is important that we get wider testing, and especially that people let us know if and where it breaks. As of right now, there aren't any known bugs...

SYSLINUX 3.55-pre5 and 3.60-pre7 - RC status
Hi all, I have just pushed out SYSLINUX 3.55-pre5 and 3.60-pre7. I have decided to give them both release candidate status, with the intent of having a simultaneous 3.55 (bug fixes only) and 3.60 (new functionality) release. Please test them out and let me know how they do. -hpa

SYSLINUX 2.09-pre2
This version contains a fix to mbr.asm, plus a version of Murali's menu system, but ported to gcc. Although gcc produces much bigger 16-bit code (since it's really 32-bit code with prefixes) I figured it would be much easier for people to deal with since it requires the configuration to be compiled in. That being said, it's a *very* powerful menu system, partially *because*

pxelinux.0 not fully booting in EFI 64 mode...not requesting ldlinux.e64 via TFTP...
There are no pre-compiled binaries (official or otherwise) on kernel.org. I assume what is meant is https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/ At least, that is where the "downloads" page of syslinux.org directs you. Under there are the various source tarballs (tar.gz format, tar.bz2 format). Also a directory called RPMS/. But that kernel.org RPMS/ directory is devoid of

FW: pxelinux 5.x, 6.x memtest problem

See http://www.syslinux.org/archives/2013-July/020543.html and the f'up from Ady and my response regarding re-compiling. So actual I think I don't re-compile everything. I think I am using the pre-build modules from your provided archives (if 'make installer && make

SYSLINUX 3.11-pre8 -- release candidate
I have released SYSLINUX 3.11-pre8; this is a release candidate. The differences versus -pre6 is that I have reverted the PXELINUX stack changes I did in SYSLINUX 3.10 since there are confirmed reports that they break at least one platform. As before, I hope to release 3.11 on Tuesday unless I get objections. ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/Testing/ -hpa

Syslinux 3.80-pre7
I have just pushed out Syslinux 3.80-pre7. I am slightly concerned about putting this into the release tree at this point: I was working with some of the shuffler code, and found that the memory map handling was actually severely buggy on some of my test cases. Resolving that problem took rewriting most of syslinux_add_memmap(). However, against better judgement :) I decided to check in the

PXELINUX 4.10-pre*
So far I tested PXELINUX from 4.10-pre12, 4.10-pre9 and 4.10-pre6. The first two take a long time with a TFTP file not found and eventually find my file but error out (presumably to kaboom). The last takes a long time, does a lot of retransmitted packets (didn't watch the first two), then eventually loads the file but continues this behavior for TFTP and HTTP transfers. This is on VMware
