window 2000 policy changes with a samba pdc
Hello,
With the release of samba 3.0 I was vey excited with the new features
and decided to experiment with it.
I set my server up as a pdc which I am still working out some of the
bugs but all and all I have it going and have a windows 2000 pro client
join the domain and login and out very easy.
The one problem is that before I roll this out to my other comptuers I
need to change the policy on

samba 3.0 - ldap - pdc
hi all,
i am actually trying to get samba 3.01 (on SLES 8.0) working as PDC with
the ldap backend. I have already configured nsswitch to also use ldap
for groups and passwords (the root user is still in the /etc/passwd file
- i can't imagine that putting the root user into openldap is a really
good idea).
There is one sentence in the howto

Open file > 64 K in COM32
Hi all,
I used syslinux to load linux on DiskOnChip in PC104
for one embbeded project suceefully for several
months. But due to power lost sometime the image is
corrupted. I want to develop a COM32 util to check CRC
for the images and load the good ones. I read in the
comboot.doc that com32 can use read file SYSLINUX API
call to read a file, and the file must below 64K
limit. But the image files

Syslinux & DiskonChip 2000 boo error.
Good afternoon.
I am trying to make a 32M DiskonChip2000 boot Linux (kernel version 2.2.20)
but I'm having difficulty.
It begins fine, loading most of the kernel, but halts immediately after the
"Freeing unused kernel memory: 52K freed." step. The implication seems to
be that my ramdisk is not being mounted/executed properly.
My syslinux.cfg file is as follows:
timeout=0

help with porting patch from 1.62 to 1.75
Hello List,
I have below a patch (against Syslinux-1.62), which adds
a pseudo-kernel 'swap' which swaps device numbers of
the boot device and the first harddisk. It was made
for a system equipped with a DiskOnChip (www.msys.com)
device which 'steals' the device# of teh first harddisk,
This patch is used to enable the syslinux on the DoC
to continue booting from the harddisk as if

A distro around Shorewall
Hi all,
Currently at work we use a commercial product called "Gnatbox", which, I
believe, is a BSD derivative running on a floppy disk. They have a pretty
UI and all, but I''d feel much safer/happier with a GNU/Linux box and
Shorewall doing the same thing.
In fact, I''m doing something very close to this at home using Openwrt and
Shorewall on my WRT54G router, but I

If you think getting Windows games working in Wine is hard ...
... try getting old Linux binaries to work in a current Linux. It's
actually harder.
http://secretlondon.livejournal.com/447659.html
(Windows is all about binary compatibility, but Linux is expressly not
- it's all about *source* compatibility. So old programs are more
likely to work by running the Windows version in Wine.)

Invalid property value
I have a Windows application that I would like to have running on Linux
as it is my platform of choice. This application is a proprietary Visual
Basic program. It's name is crisscross real-estate. Using the latest
codeweavers-wine I was able to install it on a pre-install windows
directory layout and the application is behaving very well except that
in at one point in the program I get an

strange Samba3 / sudo / ldapsearch problem
Hi,
I recently triied to set up a special PDF creation service for a customer. The
Samba3 server is a AD2003 member server. Since the created PDF files
need to be sent via e-mail to the creators, I need to issue an LDAP
query against the AD, like
ldapsearch -h 10.243.50.22 -Y GSSAPI -b "ou=user,ou=... ..." \
-LLL '(cn=lastname firstname*)' mail
As long as I run this command

Re: syslinux vs grub (Phung Chi Kien)
Hi Peter,
I don't want to waste your time. I only want to say that you do great
softwares. I use SYSLINUX to build my embedded system with PC104 board and
DiskOnChip flash disk, and thanks for your work it run very well. Now I want
to boot it via ethernet and I think that I must use your PXELINUX.
Pls keep this softwares live.
Thanks for your great works

this problem? Please respond ASAP.

ISDN BRI (I.430) over ethernet
Does anyone know of a hardware adapter that can take ISDN BRI frames
(I.430) and encapsulate them in Ethernet (any form, but TDMoE would be
really cool), in much the same way that the redfone does for PRI?
(yes I have asked this before in looser terms, but it was a while ago :)
Would anyone find such a device useful?
Thanks

unimplemented parameters for int21, ax=0x440d
I have a game that is not working under wine (it just
seem to hang up with a black screen, though when I try
to close the program, confirmation dialog for quitting
appears). Output solely says it's executing an
interrupt with unimplemented parameters in wine:

php and xapian
Hi,
I'm using Xapian 0.9.6 bindings with PHP 5.1.4 and am getting a
Segmentation Fault at the end of script execution any time that the
xapian.so object is loaded in the php.ini. Any time that php gets
invoked it faults after the scrtip completes - regardless of whether
any xapian code (or any code for that matter) was called. However,
with that said it appears that Xapian is still working

php5 in centosplus update?
The recent htmlentities/htmlspecialchars bug was affecting all
versions of PHP older than 5.2.0. With that in mind, I was just
wondering if there is any timeframe to release a fix in centosplus
repository for PHP5 package? I've noticed that Red Hat released fixed
PHP5 packages for RHEL4 last week (php-5.1.4-1.el4s1.5).
