Problem adding ext3 support to tomsrtbt
Hi,
I am upgrading the tomsrtbt rescue distribution from kernel 2.0.39 to 2.2.20.
Fitting a 2.4.x kernel on the floppy is not practical at this time.
I am trying to support both ext3 and reiser filesystems.
However, there are symbol collisions, it is impossible to use both.
Is there any chance of getting the 2.2.x patch fixed?
-Thanks

Isolinux CD to Hard drive
Hi,

I've been using Isolinux Boot CD for a while now and it's working great. This weekend, I decided to install it on my hard drive so I can boot Isolinux of the Hard drive. I used the famous command : "syslinux -s c:" to initialize the drive then I copied all the .img file to that drive. Then I renamed the "isolinux.cfg" to "syslinux.cfg" to get to my

Colleagues
I have been an enthusiastic user of the sas7bdat package in R. However, several recent sas7bdat files sent to me from different sources cannot be read by the package. The error message is:

Absolute Minimum Installation Packages
I'm trying to get the total Linux/* installation size as small as possible.
I'm wondering if anyone has looked at the installed packages list from the
Redhat installation [rpm -qa] and has parsed out all packages not needed for
* to run. I follow the custom install guide from Andy Powell but the
installation yields 948+ Meg with 340 installed packages. I'm sure most of

floppy image issues
Hi!
sorry for the top post.
I have had some troubles in the past trying to make equipment to
boot a floppy with MS-DOS that also used ms networking to access
the network.
Particularly the Gateway GSX 500 cannot have the onboard NIC with
PXE enabled, as it eats about 92k of highmemory, which in turn
makes impossible to start Windows XP setup due to low memory.
On that particular machine I had

A HowTo guide?
I've very new to this... what I want to achieve, is to have my clients
network boot - and then be presented with a menu, allowing them *well,
me* to choose what to do.
Maybe, boot from the main hard disk, or boot a disk image from a samba
share, or maybe even boot a CD image, instead of having the actual CD in
the drive.
Also, I would want to be able to change this menu, without actually

Isolinux.cfg issues on certain BIOSes
Howdy to all,
We've been using isolinux quite successfully for quite some time now,
and I have come across a couple of laptops where isolinux balks at my
config file..
Upon booting on this systems, the image background appears corrupted,
and at the boot prompt, the following happens automatically.
Unknown keyword in config file.

Bootable Floppy w/ Networking & Shell?
I realize this is probably the wrong list but since some of the
principals this list deals with are similar in nature I figured it
could't hurt.
What I am looking to do:
Provide a solution to either boot from a floppy disk, establish a
network connection, give user the ability to run utilities such as fdisk
and dd. as well as provide the same solution as a PXE bootable image.

Memdisk booting XP DOS
Memdisk 2.08 does not appear to be able to boot an XP DOS image (it starts
to boot and then hangs). XP DOS appears to be borrowed from WinME
(v4.90.3000). I was trying to make a multiple boot CD with Bart's method:
http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk
but substituting Brads TCP boot disk instead of Barts:

isolinux 1.74, 1.75pre2 - cannot load NT cdrom bootsectors...
Hi,
I've coded loading NT cdrom bootsector into isolinux 1.68 myself
(http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk) and I now see you have included it
in isolinux 1.73 and higher. Great!!!
I tried it using isolinux 1.74 and 1.75pre2, but I cannot get it to work.
It says:
--
Loading
Invalid or corrupt kernel image.

I use the file extension ".bin" as I see in the isolinux.asm source,

RE: Memdisk - unload
OOPS. Hit the wrong key. Hope you didn't get the
previous message!
I've been using Barts Boot CD method at:
   http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk
It works great...trouble is, it creates a ramdisk of
it's own. I end up with the following drive
assignments when I boot DOS/Winxx:
a: - memdisk image of boot floppy
c: - hda1
d: - hda2 (etc)
q: - ramdisk created by barts

Xen0 crash dump (/dev/ram0 root) possibly of interest
I''m continuing to work on making a new XenCD as previously discussed here. In
the course of that work, I''ve generated (actually, currently stuck on) the
enclosed crash dump. Thought I''d forward it for interest.
To head off questions, you''ll see references to a very large initrd (~114 Mb).
The Xen dump may or not be related to this unusual usage.

SIP to PSTN gateway
Hello all,
taking examples from various pointers, I am attempting to put together an outbound dialing example using SIP (Cisco 7960) with 2 X100P. Everything seems to be working without generating errors, but the problem is the phone hangs up (102/Bye). Any pointers/advice are much appreciated

Hmm no luck there either:
