Device context (get_dc) Question from printing.rb in wxRuby samples
I am using Windows XP SP 3 but want to stay general. Below is a method within printing.rb. I have added comments marked by #--. My question is about get_dc. The device context is obviously created and the code works as presented. It also works as documented below. Why does just get_dc satisfy the linkage? When does one use the Wx:: or the Wx::PrintOut format? How does one decide to use

Printing with and without cups on the same machine
Hi all! We have a samba 3.0.2a-Debian running in combination with cups. I want to use cups to print to all "normal" printers (e.g. HP Laserjet), which seems to run. But I want also use a printer-script to genereate pdf Files using gs (no, I don't want to use the pdf backend providet on the cups web site, for several reasons...) On a machine running samba 2.2.3a-13 without cups,

printing without server side drivers
Running RH9, CUPS 1.1.17, hpijs 1.3 It is my understanding that the server Samba is running on doesn't need drivers for the printer it is sharing. However, the drivers I do have installed on the server don't work quite right (chop off the top), and I see now that anything printed through Samba also has its top chopped off. Which would indicate to me that it is infact using the CUPS

Setup.exe Hides Dialogues
I'm new on here, so I hope this has not been answered too many times already. I searched the knowledge base at the Wine site without finding a solution. I just switched from Mandrake to Lindows, which seems to have a capable version of Wine running. However, with two Winapps I've tried to install, the initial setup window (fullscreen, borderless, no controls) completely hides the

strange crashes caused by 'cairoDevice' and 'tcltk' dialogues
Dear developers I get some strange crashes when 'cairoDevice' and 'tcltk' are both loaded in the same R vanilla session. When executing the following in that order require(relimp) require(cairoDevice) showData (iris) I get a crash with the following message (see R-relimp-cairoDevice.txt): The program 'R' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in
