make fails for 1.7.0 on mac os x 10.1
I've been running a binary installation (kindly provided by Jan de Leeuw) on mac G4, but was inspired this morning to try to install 1.7.0 on the G4 as well as on my desktop solaris box. This worked smoothly on my solaris system but on the G4 the make dies shortly after compiling lapack with: /usr/bin/libtool: internal link edit command failed make[4]: *** [libRlapack.dylib] Error 1 make[3]:

ssize_t not defined in sockconn.c (PR#8889)
Problem: Build of R failed when compiling sockconn.c. The problem seemed to be that ssize_t was not defined. The following change in sock.h fixes the problem, though it's probably not fixed the _right_ way. /* Following line changed by WTR (Cira) to overcome make problem. #if defined Win32 && !defined _SSIZE_T_ typedef int ssize_t; #endif */ typedef int ssize_t; Thanks! parallel:::newPSOCKnode(): background worker fails immediately if socket on master is not set up in time (BUG?)
A solution is to have parallel:::.slaveRSOCK() attempt to connect multiple times before failing, e.g. makeSOCKmaster <- function(master, port, timeout, useXDR, maxTries = 10L, interval = 1.0) { port <- as.integer(port) for (i in seq_len(maxTries)) { con <- tryCatch({ socketConnection(master, port = port, blocking = TRUE,

parallel:::newPSOCKnode(): background worker fails immediately if socket on master is not set up in time (BUG?)
Great. For the record of this thread, I've submitted patch PR17391 (https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17391). I've patched it against the latest R-devel on the SVN, passes 'make check-all', and I've verified it works with the above tests. /Henrik On Fri, Mar 9, 2018 at 4:37 AM, <luke-tierney at uiowa.edu> wrote: > I'm happy to look at a

R compile on AIX 5.2
Fellow R Enthusiasts.. I'm trying to compile R on AIX 5.2 32bit with gcc 3.3.2-5. I've tried both the development bundle R-devel_2006-01-25.tar.gz and the R-beta.tar.gz from about a month ago. In each instance, I'm using the following options prior to running "./configure --prefix=/usr/local/R": OBJECT_MODE=32 MAIN_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-brtl SHLIB_LDFLAGS=-Wl,-G

Problem with new("externalptr")
Hi, It seems that new("externalptr") is always returning the same instance, and not a new one as one would expect from a call to new(). Of course this is hard to observe: > new("externalptr") <pointer: (nil)> > new("externalptr") <pointer: (nil)> since not a lot of details are displayed. For example, it's easy to see that 2

[PATCH] drmmode: update logic for dynamic connectors, paths, and tiles
This largely copies the code from modesetting with minor adjustments. Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> --- I've tried privately to get people to test this out, but to no avail. I don't have the hardware to verify this one way or the other. Ideally with this patch you should be (a) able to use a tiled monitor at 60hz with DP-MST and (b) be able to see connectors

This largely copies the code from modesetting with minor adjustments. Signed-off-by: Ilia Mirkin <imirkin at alum.mit.edu> --- I've tested this back and forth with a GTX 960 + 2x U2415 monitors, chained to each other. I turned them on/off. I messed with their DP 1.1/1.2 settings. I pulled plugs a few times. This seems to pass the test. No crashes, the connectors seem to come and go

reinterpreting externalptr in R
Hi, I am using swig to build a wrapper for an c-function to use it in R. I would like to define a generic function, which gives back a void pointer. On the R side, I know what this pointer is pointing to, whether it is an integer or an string, or something else... but I need to somehow reinterpret the resulting "externalptr" into another form... a function that looks like the

make error for R-2.3.0
Hello, I'm trying to install R on a linux machine running Red Hat 8. I ran ./configure make and get the following error. I've installed several versions of R (2.2.1 most recently) on this machine and haven't had any problems until now. I wondered if the outdated compiler (gcc version 3.2) was the problem and attempted to install my own, more recent version. I tried gcc versions 4.1.0

Given an externalptr object 'pool' which protects an R object 'prot': # SEXP prot = (a dynamically updated list with handles) SEXP pool = R_MakeExternalPtr(p, R_NilValue, prot); R_RegisterCFinalizerEx(pool, fin_pool, TRUE); WRE explains that 'prot' remains in existence as long as 'pool' is around. Does this also mean 'prot' still exists when the

Hello - I'm trying to compile R 1.7.0 on a PowerBook running OS X 10.2.5. I've compiled R (1.6.2) successfully before on this machine, under either 10.2.3 or 10.2.4. My gcc is from the latest Apple Developer Tools release and the g77 is up-to-date via Fink. R passes ./configure just fine, with the following options: R is now configured for powerpc-apple-darwin6.5 Source
