Multiple language output - Correct in RGui, wrong in .txt after sink()
I have the following problem with outputting multilingual data to a file. I get (except for Korean) what I expect as result in the RGui, but when I use sink() to output to a text file loose the characters in the foreign languages. I post a small example below. Since I am not sure how well my email system as the list copes with all the different characters I have additionally created a pdf

L10N and i18n of R
Dear R-users of non-English speaking countires. Maybe a good news for those who want to use R in their local languages. Recently two Japanese, E. Nakama and M. Okada, succeeded in "making R speak Japanese". At present, R can handle Japanese (as well as other languages, I guess) character strings if one use consoles which can understand Japanese. Also P. Hi, I am looking for Chinese Japanese and Korean tokenizer that could can be use to tokenize terms for CJK languages. I am not very familiar with these languages however I think that these languages contains one or more words in one symbol which it make more difficult to tokenize into searchable terms. Lucene has CJK Tokenizer ... and I am looking around if there is some open source that we

no charset ver. 3.0.0beta3 on solaris
Hi all This question came up several times in this list in the last couple of weeks, but nobody seems to have found a solution... so I post this again, hoping that anybody out there has the answer. I compiled Samba 3.0.0beta3 on Solaris 9 with the following options: --with-winbind --with-acl-support --with-included-popt --with-pam Starting the daemon or doing testparm gives me always: Error

GSoC - Improve Japanese Support
Hi there, My name is Julia Wilson and I'm a grad student in Computational Linguistics at Brandeis University. As a GSoC project I'm interested in improving Japanese language support, and I had a couple of questions for the application I'm putting together. I know Japanese - I'm not a native speaker by any means, but I'm pretty good - and I'm really interested in the

Apply the google summer code (additional idea)
Hi all: As I have gone through the The Xapian-devel Archives, it seems many people would like to do the project "weight schemes" and few would like to do the CJK project. I am a native speaker of Chinese and I learned a little Korean and Japanese, so if possible, I would like to apply this projects too. The next version of R will be released (barring force majeure) on June 20th, with beta versions available starting Monday. Please do check them on your system *before* the release this time... Apologies for the late announcement, but my department moved this week and I needed to be sure that my set-up survived the move. -pd -- O__ ---- Peter Dalgaard ?ster

[LLVMdev] Compiler name: Nāga
Hi, the idea of a dragon theme reminded me of the dragon-like serpents called "Nāga" from Cambodian mythology, among other places. Here's a brief link explaining the specific Cambodian meaning - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naga_(mythology)#N.C4.81gas_in_Cambodia I like this as a name, because it's unique short and easy to type and remember (as long as you omit the accent,

Korean Translation - Anaconda Slides
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, Well, it seems like my gnome terminal can't interpret Korean translations very well. Or maybe it can and I don't know how to confirm it ? I tried the following encoding characters in the gnome terminal: Current Local (UTF-8) Korean (EUC-KR) Korean (UHC) Korean (JOHAB) and all I can see are question marks inside black rhombus. That

Indexing Chinese?
My second (and hopefully last) question: is there any more news on indexing Chinese characters and words? Searching online mostly returns results from a decade ago or more, with nothing very conclusive. How close is this to possible? For the time being I'm doing some pre-processing on long strings of Chinese, breaking on punctuation in order to avoid errors. But I have some large corpora of

R, Wine, and multi-threadedness.
Hi, I managed to install Win32 R 2.2.0 with the CRAN Innosetup installer under Wine on x86 linux a few days ago. However, on trying to run it, MSVCP60.DLL is missing. So here is a sort of a bug report, and a couple of questions: (1) I think the R binary in the CRAN Innosetup installer was built with mingw. The R-windows FAQ did mention that this DLL is required *for Chinese/Japanese/Korean*

Is there a console tool to monitor&control&log&notify the print queue information?
I setup a central Fedora 11 printer server in a big office for 80+ windows clients due to the max 10 connections limitation of windows 2000/xp. 2 physical printers are connected to the server, and I configured 3 CUPS printers(1 printer with 2 different printer drivers) in Fedora 11. Is there a console tool to 1. Monitor the print queue(s) in real-time like windows system? A history windows hold
