RadRails config? Getting blank project only created?
Hi, Does anyone know how to correctly configure RadRails (0.7)? I can''t seem to get 0.7 version of radrails to create a Rails project. All I get is a blank project. I have ensured that my PATH does point to my ruby\bin area. Also any clarification regarding which directory (with an example) should be used for the following preferences setting (are they asking for a file or

Centos 4.2 and Boot/Root on RAID?
Hi, I have a client that insists on going with software rather than hardware raid1 to save a few dollars. Can Centos 4.2 do Boot and Root on software Raid1? I've heard criticisms of Grub and bootable RAID. Also, if it is not set up to work out of the box, I'd like to try to talk them out of it. I've been down that road before. If I go nonstandard, by the time I actually need

Best quality setting for mp3 transcoded old radio shows
Hi, I have a bunch of old radio programs (mystery/drama shows, not music) encoded at 32 kbit (and some 48kbit) mp3 (mono). I want to reencode them in ogg and make them available over gnutella. My question is this. What is the best quality level (-q) for transcoding them. I want to preserve quality, but I want to be sensitive to the many modem based gnutella users. I also want to to

More questions about patch management
I'm still trying to get an idea about how best to handle patches on CentOS. Say I want to apply security patches automatically on a nightly basis. But when the push from 4.2 to 4.3 comes around, I want to defer that for when I can do it manually. Is that possible? (Preferably with yum, but I would use up2date if that were necessary.) Also, I'm used to doing 'yum update'. I

Specifying a view template
I''m new to Rails (and liking it!) and I have multiple controllers, each of which has a method which uses a view template which is identical to what the others use. I would like to be able to have just one template to maintain that they can all use. What is the customary way to do this? I tried using render_action to specify the template explicitly, and it "works". But I

bristuff/zaphfc disturbing other ISDN phones
I have ISDN BRI line (Point-to-multipoint), with HFC card and bristuff/zaphfc driver. I also have TA attached to NT, with analog phones and modem on it. Volume of patches for CentOS vs Fedora
I'm trying to come to a decision between CentOS 4.2 and Fedora Core 4 for use on a server. One of the things the server will be serving is X desktops so there are some advantages to Fedora. However, one thing I can't help but notice is that the patch volume for FC4 from Oct 11 2005 thru the present compared to CentOS 4.2 for the same period is about 5 times greater. In fact, since

Strange and disturbing bug
How about this one? If I set a variable in a data.frame with a two- part name including a dot (say y.pair), and if the variable with the name of the first part (y) doesn't but I ask for it's value I get the value of the two-part name. Ie set fred$x.pair and print the value of fred$x it gives me the value I set to fred$x.pair. Weird and somewhat disturbing! Maybe an example makes it

Cannot save/migrate domains
Hi, I had a problem trying to migrate domains, in trying to locate it I noticed that saving domains doesn''t work either, which I believe explains why the receiving xfrd doesn''t actually receive anything. So here it goes... xenone:/tmp# xm list Name Id Mem(MB) CPU State Time(s) Console Domain-0 0 123 0 r---- 900.6 sky 9

Syslinux drive confusion
I have the following problem with syslinux. With boards with same core chipset and bios, syslinux fails on some boards. The difference on boards are that the ones that succeed has standard PC components (KBC, PATA). The ones that failes have SATA only and no KBC. It does not matter if I boot from USB or Compact flash drive. I has been noted that the bootloader calls BIOS functions for a drive

Preventing 'virsh start' while doing backup?
Is there any way to interface with virsh to keep it from executing a startup operation? Sort of like the /etc/nologin (man page nologin(5)) mechanism? Basically, I want to be able to shut down a VM in order to copy its disk images, and be reasonably assured that it won't be started before I'm finished. Is there any sort of hook or interlock file or other mechanism to accomplish this?

preventing multiple rsync processes backing up same file with cron backup
If I have an rsync cron job that runs say every 15 minutes, what happens if there is a file that process 1 has started to copy across, but hasn't finished before the next process starts? Does rsync ignore this partially copied file, or does it try to copy it across again in the second cron job? Many thanks in advance, Chris -- View this message in context:

Droppable refuse to react
Im having problems with Droppables, and read that there are some attributes on the element that must be inline. What are those? I''ve tried to copy some of the code from the shop-demo, and my code seems to have the exact same attributes and more. The problem is that the droppable refuse to react whenever I attempt to drop a draggable on it, the onDrop does''nt seem to trigger.

Question about updates again
Presumably, the CentOS 4.3 update is not far away. I have CentOS on several servers now and am doing automatic updates. What can I excpect when the actual update gets pushed? Is there an inclrease in the number of patches? Does it happen all in one day? And if so, how much notice do I have? Although I asked on the list a while back, I got some answers that implied said that at update
