Trying to get Search::Xapian perl module to compile on win32
Resurrecting an old thread from 2012! Finally got back to working on this. I have been stuck in JavaScript land for too long. Come to find out, on windows, perl does indeed define open to be win32_open and close to be win32_close. This is done in perl/lib/CORE/win3iop.h. So, to get past this problem, I had to modify Xapian.xs to do an #undef of open and close if WIN32 is defined. Also, I had

Windows link.exe error : libbrass.lib(brass_table.obj) : unresolved external symbol _inflateEnd
Hi guys, I discovered xapian today and I'm trying it because it looks promising compared to other FTS engines. However I'm in a windows environment so it's a bit painful to set up as there is no official binaries. I've heard about http://www.flax.co.uk/xapian_binaries And I'm trying to build their latest release (1.2.8). After a few tries I manage to compile everything with

Trying to get Search::Xapian perl module to compile on win32
The disclaimer automatically added and is not intended to limit legitimate discourse, and any code I write for this is expected to be licensed under whatever license the original work is using. I haven't tried compiling latest code under visual studio yet (is this possible?). I wonder if there is a way to tell gcc to not mangle the names during cross compile. I was able to successfully

Static Linking, C++ Exceptions
I'm having a problem statically linking a big c++ application on Centos4. I can make it work on Centos5 and that's great. I just need to figure out a way to reproduce the problem on a small test case. The specific problem is that when I throw an exception, I get a segfault. It only happens on Centos4, and only on ia-32 machines. In an act of desparation I disassembled the bit of code

Apache auth failing for Active Directory group members
On my web server, I have a .htaccess file set up to restrict access to a folder for specific Active Directory users. The Active Directory domain is imaginatively called "AD". Using 'require user ad\brian.cochrane' in .htaccess works great. 'require group "ad\domain users"' also works. However, 'require group "ad\_it"' does not work. The

[Fwd: Apache auth failing for Active Directory group members]
I sent this message to the list yesterday, but I believe it was before I had fully joined the list...so I'm not sure if it got through. My apologies if this is a repeat. Authentication woes.
I'm still searching but hoping someone can offer a clue-stick. Long story short! I had a server crash suddenly and all I can get at are the files. Built a new host and copied the data and config files over, correcting ownership and permissions (hopefully) as I went. But now I can't get logged in. Messages in /var/log/dovecot/dovecot-info.log, without saslauthd running, are like

sendmail alias
Hi, how are mails forwarded, if I do have the same alias pointing to two different users like this (two entries, two lines): bon.aqua: coke bon.aqua: pepsi Will coke and pepsi get the mail adressed to bon.aqua or will only the first entry get the mail? I know, that "bon.aqua: coke, pepsi" will forward the mails to coke and pepsi, Cheers, G?tz -- G?tz Reinicke IT-Koordinator

Darwine Installation Problems
Well I'm on a Mac and am having some problems installing Darwine..... Well actually it's installing the Wine command using MacPorts. I got the port going, but when it was building it, it had some errors with OpenSSL. So I went to the OpenSSL site, got the "g" version and installed it. Wine still woulnd't install. So I fudged around with some other stuff and ended up

How many R packages are not free?
Hello Everyone,   Just finished reading A Handbook of Statistical Analyses using R by Everitt and Hothorn. I'll begin by saying that I quite liked the book. It's both little and mighty in the sense that it's very compact but contains a tremendous amount of useful material.   The last chapter of the book deals with cluster analysis.  There's a package used in this chapter (I believe

Slow Printing HP-2025dn
Hey All, You know how sometimes you have a problem but you just live with it? Well I've got one of those problems. I have an HP-2025dn printer connected to my home network. When I print a plain text document containing the text, "this is a test", from my wife's Windows 7 machine using the text editor the print job finishes in less than 15 seconds. If I print two copies the
