Change to set_fixture_class
So, I sat down to use set_fixture_class, and it bombed on the first
thing I tried:
set_fixture_class :content_drafts => "Article::Draft"
I made a quick patch, and I''d appreciate a quick run through your
tests to make sure it doesn''t disturb anything:
http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/4095
As I was typing this, I realized that the string gives us no benefits.

UK Rates for RoR Contract work?
Hi all,
I''ve been offered a short-term contract here in the North of England -
around 3 months work, but with RoR I think it will take considerably
less time - and am just curious what market rates were right now.
I''ve been offered a little under ?1k/week which seems ''right'' for a PHP
coder doing this kind of work, but should I be hitting for more, or is

Javascript Logging
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to find out if scriptaculous has a patch for a error logging class?
Currently, I have found 2 javascript logging scripts (outside of scriptaculous).

log4js: http://jroller.com/page/stritti?entry=logging_in_javascript_log4js
Could you guys shed some light on what would be a good logger class to use with our

aaf requires drb?
Hi,
I''ve just read some an article
(http://www.jroller.com/BrightCandle/entry/oversights_in_rails_plugins_really.)
This article (and the comment,) seem to imply that drb is required if
running under a fastcgi kind of deployment. Is this true?
Thanks,
Chris.
ps this is for a different server then my previous question.

to_parm and how it can be used in a helper
is there a way to pass the data returned by the to_parm function in a
helper?
i followed the info provided at
http://www.jroller.com/obie/entry/seo_optimization_of_urls_in and am
able to successfully get the correct urls, now i want to be able to get
the same (id-whatever) text and pass it to a helper function for further
processing.
Any ideas as to how this can be achieved?

RSpec book?
<http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=10368>
Came across this as a stub page browsing Amazon UK. This is good
news! I''m surprised it hasn''t been discussed on the list before.
Was Chad keeping it a secret?
I hope it will have plenty of BDD theory. I''m still waiting for that
magic book I can give to someone and say "here - read this, it

Installing a standalone package of rails
I recently downloaded a standalone package of rails, release 0.12.1
(.zip) but I don''t know how to install. When I unzip, I get a lot of
-sometimes empty- folders. Should I copy these folders? If so, where
should I copy them?
I hope you can help me!

Validating format
Hi there,
I am trying to upload a file and that is being done successfully.
Now I want to restrict the uploading i.e. make it only doc/pdf upload.
If anybody could help as how can I make that happen.
The file is a part of my table and its called file_name.
Thanks in advance.

[LLVMdev] How to identify LLVM version? [correction]
A minor point: Make that function parameter an enum instead of a
boolean. That would make it possible to extend the function so it
returns other information without potentially breaking client code
(which might pass in 1 or -1 or something entirely different to get
repository information).
Just my 2c.

wxRuby and other GUI toolkits
So, having subscribed recently to the ruby-talk mailing list, I''ve
noticed that wxruby doesn''t seem to have the "respect" of other GUI
libraries. I know GUI-library preference is a holy war almost up there
with vi versus emacs, but since I''m a wxruby developer, I''d like to know
what people "don''t" like about wxruby. Otherwise,

[LLVMdev] jit DLLs
Are JIT DLLs supported?
The idea is to use llvm to put performance sensitive code into
a DLL that a Windows app can then use.
This would build the performance sensitive code on the target
machine making it possible to exploit CPU specific x86
vector instructions.
The code that calls fn's in the DLL should, ideally, be unaware
that a llvm JIT is being used.

ActiveRecord and Images
Not really a Rails question, but a "best practices" one.
If I want to associate an image to every account in my application,
is it better to insert the image file directly inside the db or to
upload the image in public/images/ ?
Also, if I want to associate a cover to a movie, what''s the best
approach ?
TIA,

AOP in Prototype / JS
Hey folks
I am just investigating using Aspects for logging my main Javascript
"interfaces". I don''t believe Prototype has any built in capabilities
for this but I just thought I''d check and see how people had tackled
this before.
I am still getting to grips with core JS so apologies if this is easy
or obvious..
I am Googling as we speak also..
