Problems running features with Textmate Cucumber bundle
I finally plunked down for the beta RSpec bundle and I''m working through the initial example. Although I''m a fairly experienced RSpec user, I''m stlll learning new tricks. Anyway, I''m going though the mastermind example, and everything is going well, except that I decided to also try out the Textmate bundle for Cucumber. I decided to use Ben Mabey''s

Cucumber and autotest
Hey all, Does anyone know how to disable the cucumber autotest support on a project? With this commit: http://github.com/aslakhellesoy/cucumber/commit/93470e2580b5e3cfe0c8eb3fce86e21bf8afa219 The cucumber features are worked into the autotest cycle automatically. This is cool, but on some projects I don''t think it fits well with my red->green->refactor cycle. Any ideas on

Going beyond the default html formatter/report?
Hi! I wonder does anybody planning to go beyond the default html formatter/report? The current html report is nice and green but what about to go a little silly and enable also user input. For example to let customer to add a new pending spec, comments etc. I feel it might be mentally easier for some customers to jump into spec world when it is possible to give input at "the same

[Cucumber] ANN: Cucumber with pure Java
Big news for all Java programmers out there. Now you can use Cucumber with pure Java! That''s right, you don''t have to write a single line of Ruby! (1) All of your step definitions can be written as annotated methods in POJOs (Plain Old Java Objects). To get a taste of what this looks like, check out the simple example in the cucumber_java project on GitHub: * README for

RSpec, TestUnit, Cucumber and Autotest
OS=CentOS-5.2 Ruby=1.8.6 Rails=2.2.1_RC Gems all up to date I have been experimenting with autotest and I have a few questions. 1. given export AUTOFEATURES=TRUE if ./test exists (with tests) then these tests are run and the features are not. Is this intended behaviour? 2. given require ''autotest/redgreen'' in .autotest if /test tests are run then all I get colourized is a

AssociationTypeMismatch with RSpec 1.0.8, autotest running with drb
Before I chalk this up as a bug and report it, I just want to make sure I''m not doing something silly. Running ZenTest''s autotest on OS 10.4.10 with RSpec 1.0.8, drb, produces the following failed test: ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch in ''User should create an avatar with uploaded_data'' Avatar expected, got Avatar This only happens with that exact

DRYing up stories
I''m finding that I''m writing sets of very similar scenarios to check access permissions for each of my actions. Does anyone have suggestions on how to dry this up: Given an existing Account And a logged in Admin When the user visits account/manage Then he should get access Given an existing Account And a logged in Manager When the user visits account/manage Then he should get

When to use BDD/TDD w/ external libraries
Test First Development is great...But should you use it when you are adding classes/methods on to external library that doesn''t have an extensive test suite? I noticed that the rspec plugin for autotest has no specs. David Chemlinsky said something to the list a while back that has been stewing in my subconscious - that you develop software differently using Test First

Who''s using --format rdoc
I''m doing some housekeeping and just realised that the rdoc formatter produces gibberish: http://rspec.rubyforge.org/rdoc/files/EXAMPLES_rd.html Will anyone protest if I just go ahead and remove it? (I can''t imagine anyone using it, especially with the much better HTML formatter) Aslak

rake w/rspec
How can I spec out a rake task? How can I use rake in my spec''s? I want to fix this rake spec:autotest bug with --drb and --color. How can I get rake output? How would I get out of autotest? My initial thought is just to run the command in the spec. Scott

Pretty story output for non-Rails project
I''m taking my first fledgling steps driving a new ruby (non-rails) project with BDD. I''ve got a (test) story working. However, when I run the story in TextMate (via command-r), the output is plain text. See: http://skitch.com/georgeanderson/8grg/run-examples How do I get the output to look pretty (formatted)? rspec-1.1.3 OS X 10.5.2 TextMate v1.5.7 (1455) Thanks, /g --

--color doesn''t work with --drb w/rspec_autotest
If I got this to work, do you think we could/should check in rspec_autotest into rspec? I''ve updated rspec_autotest abit, so let me know if you''d like the modified code. Scott

Any plans for Before-feature or Before-all steps in Cucumber?
Hi The code I''m working on now is a server daemon that talks to Twitter, an RSS feed, and some web pages. I''ve got mock implementations of Twitter and the web stuff, which I start and stop with daemon_controller[1]. I do all the setup in a Before block, but this makes the feature runs agonisingly slow due to the time waiting for everything to restart. I''m

Autotest and subclasses / namespaces
I am writing a controller admin/cities_controller.rb it inherits from AdminController, so it''s defined like class Admin::CitiesController > AdminController Whenever I save the controller file, autotest freaks out: uninitialized constant Admin::AdminController (NameError) I''m pretty used to just hitting CTRL-C to get autotest to re-load all the files, or flicking to
