Centos and Software RAID
I purchased an Intel D945GNT motherboard and it comes in the BIOS with an option to create a RAID 0 or RAID 1 volumes using my existing two SATA disks. However when installing Centos 4.3 x86_64 I see the the installer recognices the two drives and does not "see" the RAID 0. Is that ok? Should I disable the RAID in the BIOS and then go for a LVM+RAID 0 setup in the installer ? Since it

Hot swap CPU
From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > Btw, don't quote me on this one :) > I'm only 90% sure of the hotswapping capabilities, and less than 50% > sure about the price :) There _are_ systems with hot-swap CPUs, memory and/or, PCI[-X] slots. They are _not_ commodity and pricey, and require OS-level support. In fact, I believe Linux 2.6 has some support for

Re: Reboots -- LSB 2.1 Core Generic Section 8.5
From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > There is nothing wrong with using X11 at runlevel 3. The only thing > that can't be present is a display manager (KDM, XDM, GDM etc). That's _exactly_ what I'm talking about. Run-level 3 starts xdm. Several Linux distros use 2 for multi-user, 3 for multi-user w/X. Run-level 2 as multi-user w/o networking or w/o NFS was

Choice of FTP server
I have taken over a number of RH/FC/CentOS servers recently. I am trying to upgrade all of them to CentOS 4.3 and configure them to only use software that can be managed via yum/apt repositories. One of the choices made by my predecessor was the pure-ftpd server over vsftpd. I cannot find a repo to get this rpm from and am wondering if anyone on the list has any practical experience with both and

From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > rcS.d is not a runlevel. It is the equivalent of rc.sysinit on other > distributions/flavors or, should I say, and expansion of that idea. Correct, that's why I said "before" the run-levels at boot. But you still need to know about it. > 0 - Halt > 1 - Single User > 2 - Multi User (No NFS) > 3 - Multi

OT: AudioCodes MP124-C/FSX/AC/SIP
Just a question, has anyone knows how to blank or factory reset an AudioCodes MP124-C/FSX/AC/SIP unit (it's a 24 FSX to SIP unit). I purchased them second-handed with no manuals (thank god for the internet!!) but i guess the pdf manual I have does not have the section of factory-reset. New ip billing solution?? any updates?
Hi people, i've seen the wiki looking for a * billing solution but the links point to websites that have not updated their content (or news) section for over a year. Can anyone recommend a commercial-grade (i mean no mom&pop cdr system) billing solution that can start small and then scalate as traffic grows and tested/used with Asterisk before? commercial or open source links are ok.

Cannot build rpm with mysql support from dovecot.spec
I've been playing for hours with the dovecot.spec file to build --with-mysql. The resulting RPM builds fine but when dovecot runs it does not recognize the passdb mysql statement. I also noted that the spec file has a version of 1.0-stable and rpmbuild complains about an invalid '-' in the version. Being a newbie in rpmbuild, can someone assist me in building for CentOS 4 on i386?
