x86_64 reproducible server PANIC with latest kernel
Our Tyan VX50 server, which is otherwise stable, can be crashed by a
specific user who starts a Java application.
Relevant facts are:
x86_64 CentOS 4.3 fully updated (but otherwise default config)
8 Dual-Core Opteron 870 (2 GHz), giving 16 cores
32 GB memory (running at DDR333)
The panic is reproducible within a couple of minutes.
I tried the 2.6.9-42 largesmp kernel from J.Baron's website

Problem with GFX 5500 Inno 3D
Hallo,
while trying to use nouveau drivers with GFX 5500 I've got nothing but
hang-ups of my machine. The hangup occurs after I'm trying to start
Xwindow (not directly, when machine is booting up). After it occured,
keyboard isn't available anymore, and I can't switch machine off
gracefully with ATX power button. The test has been done with

Multi-Card reader (SD, MMC, etc) and CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN kernel option in 34.0.2. Workaround
Hi folks,
Im trying to get a multi-card reader on centos (SD, MMC, and so, 4 card
slots) and i have read (http://www.cs.sfu.ca/~ggbaker/personal/cf-linux)
that CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN should be enabled on kernel (=Y) but current
34.0.2 doesn't have it enabled by default, is there any particular
reason to not be enabled?
By the other hand i've also tweak the /etc/grub.conf file to boot the

USB Disk
I put a new server together with CentOS 4. This server is doing a number
of functions including ntp, mail, and web server. I had a USB drive
plugged in and it was working great. I could access it at /media/usbdisk
and I copied lots of data to it.
I felt the server was "complete" so I wanted to move it. I shut it down,
moved it, etc. Everything is ok, except that I cannot access the

ext3 is still locking up
A brand new system setup with RH 7.3 is still Oopsing after every X hours.
The problem started after about 1 week without errors.
Sometimes everything is locked, sometimes still messages are written to /var/log/messages.
Sometimes other processes keep running (can still ping the machine)
I upgraded the kernel to 2.4.18-19.7.x, changed the memory, but still got problems.

XFS Issues
We are in the process of migrating XFS filesystems from one storage
array to another. Both are arrays are mounted locally on the same
CentOS 4.4 system (x86_64). We are running kernel 2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp
along with kernel-module-xfs-2.6.9-42.0.2.ELsmp-0.1-3.
The issue we are having is that while the copy is running (using rsync)
the system will log these message periodically:

Then I rebooted (because I wanted to boot in runlevel 3 to see
whether I could play sound..., not relevant here).

Automounter (?) failing in CentOS 5.3
I may have asked about this before, but I can't find any records of so
doing in my saved mail (which includes almost everything I ever read
or write):
All of a sudden, I am not getting flash drives automatically mounted
in CentOS 5.3 with GNOME - they are recognized by the hardware, but
there seems to be a (new?) problem with the maps. Here's the tail end
of dmesg:

RHEL 4 U2 / OCFS 1.2.1 weekly crash?
Hello,
I have two nodes running the 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp kernel and the OCFS2
1.2.1 RPMs. About once a week, one of the nodes crashes itself (self-
fencing) and I get a full vmcore on my netdump server. The netdump log
file shows the shared filesystem LUN (/dev/dm-6) did not respond within
12000ms. I have not changed the default heartbeat values
in /etc/sysconfig/o2cb. There was no other IO
