Quick question. Thunderbird/Outlook = no love.
Are there any how-tos or documentation on getting dovecot to be thunderbird/outlook friendly? Thunderbird can connect about 20% of the time, the other 80% of the time, I Get the error: "You may need to connect via SSL or TLS. Please check the account settings for your mail server." I have my thunderbird setup to do TLS. I've put it on the TLS if available as well, still no love.

Message Filenames
Is there anyway to get a message's filename through the imap server? I've been developing a program for awhile and just switched to dovecot from courier. Courier had a file that for every line was like: <message uid> <message filename> Is there anway to get this information out of dovecot? -Charlie

Problem with IMAP on port 993
This is probably a misconfiguration of my MUA; however, I thought I would ask here first. I am using IMAP with Dovecot. Claws-mail is my MUA. Now, when fetching mail via port 143, everything works fine: Mar 29 10:33:00 imap-login: Info: Login: user=<user at domain.net>, method=CRAM-MD5, rip=127.0.0.1, lip=127.0.0.1, TLS However, when I attempt to fetch mail via port 993, I get this

separating logs by port
Hi, I wanted to ask if there's an easy way to log the port in dovecot. The background is that, as everyone's probably aware, pop3/imap usually listen on two ports (110/995 for pop3, 143/993 for imap). One port is the "classic" port that allows unencrypted and STARTTLS connections, the other is the legacy SSL port that allows TLS only connections. The legacy SSL ports are

Fedora 4: x86_64 different build options than i386?
After successful testing on our 32-bit machine using the rpm, I'm installing dovecot on our Fedora 64-bit machine using that rpm. In the log file I get: dovecot: Mar 31 15:34:16 Error: auth(default): Unknown database driver 'mysql' I see this: # dovecot --build-options Build options: ioloop=poll dnotify ipv6 openssl Passdb: checkpassword pam passwd passwd-file shadow Userdb:

STARTTLS does not seem to work
I believe I have the configuration set to use START TLS on IMAP4 (143) and POP3 (110) ports. ?However, it does not seem to be working. ?Yet "STARTTLS" is listed as a capability (which tells me I probably do have it configured right). In the session below, 172.30.0.24 is the mail server I'm putting up. 64.26.60.229 is an outside mail service. A similar thing happens on POP3. The

Start using Dovecot
Hey,I have recently set up Dovecot on my server but I have trouble with using it. I'm using Dovecot 1.0.rc15, SQL password and user database with the SQL config files provided on the home page. I'm using Thunderbird to connect to Dovecot. When trying to connect it gives me an internal server error: User not found Is there anything else I need to do before I can use Dovecot? Here's

Turn off IMAPS?
Hi I've upgraded to 2.1.7 and finally decided to turn off imaps and pop3s because these days everyone uses tls over 143 anyway. But it's on and I can't figure out why. I only have non-ssl versions specified: protocols = imap pop3 I've stopped and started and the ports are still open and netstat says dovecot is listening on them.. mail:~# netstat -tulnp | grep dove tcp 0

Changing listen ports
Hi, I want to change ports that Dovecot uses to listen for connections. I have listen = [::] in global section and listen = 0.0.0.0:10143 and listen = 0.0.0.0:10110 in protocol imap and protocol pop3 sections. The problem is that it doesn't seem to work for SSL ports of the two protocols and I get following error when I try to start the service: Fatal: listen(993) failed: Address already in

Possible bug in v1.1.1
Greetings, I recently upgraded our server from Dovecot 1.0.14 to 1.1.1. I am building using the FreeBSD ports system, so nothing is custom aside from the flags set there. dovecot fell down a few days after the update with: pid 1823 (imap), uid 1000: exited on signal 11 the mail log shows: Jul 4 14:36:07 hostname dovecot: IMAP(username): Corrupted index cache file

No ports listening
Please forgive my newbie post but this has me stumped. I've been a happy Dovecot 0.X and 1.X admin for years but something in my first 2.X configuration is oddly broken. It loads fine, logs no errors, but doesn't listen to any network ports! Thanks in advance for any help. Dovecot: Mails flagged as read get flagged as unread
Hi all We experience some unexpected behavior with dovecot. It happens that emails marked as read get marked as unread (MUA is Thunderbird on port 143). Unfortunately this happens randomly, reproducing this issue is difficult. We could not find any pattern, it happens rarely. We are running dovecot version 2.2.24 on Debian Jessie (backports repository). /root at dovecot01:~# dovecot --version//

migrate dovecot files 1.2.16 to 2.0.13 (OpenBSD 5.0)
Hi, I have a mailserver(Postfix+MySql) on OpenBSD 4.9 with Dovecot 1.2.16, all works fine. Now i want to do the same but on OpenBSD 5.0. I meet problems using dovecot 2.0.13 on OpenBSD 5.0. Some tests (on the box): telnet 127.0.0.1 110 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to 127.0.0.1. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host. telnet 127.0.0.1 143 Trying 127.0.0.1...

Weird Dovecot 1.1.6 + pop3s certificate issues
Hello everyone, I've been asked by a colleague to have a look at some extremely weird dovecot SSL issue they are seeing on one of the student mailservers. They are running dovecot 1.1.6 (yes, I know, a bit old ...) on SLES 10.2 x86_64 with imap(+starttls), imaps, pop3(+starttls) and pop3s enabled. Every couple of weeks the pop3s and pop3+starttls part bail out out. Clients can't connect,

Since last week we get the following error message when connecting from the horde/imp webmailer to the public namespace: Panic: file acl-cache.c: line 294 (acl_cache_update): assertion failed: (obj_cache->my_current_rights != &negative_cache_entry) Dovecot and horde/imp are running on seperate hosts.
