Signal 11 - can't get core dump?
Hi all,
We have been running Dovecot for over a year now in our moderate volume
mail environment (>4000 mailboxes) and it's been running great.
However, over the past month or so we've begun to experience issues
where IMAP clients will appear to "hang" for a period of time, we then
see a sig 11, and afterwards mailflow returns to normal. This usually
happens a few times a

dag repo and perl dependencies naming
Hi
I'm trying to install amavisd-new from dag repo on centos3.
In the spec file perl dependencies use parenthesis: perl(Digest::MD5)
it also uses '-': perl-MailTools
The problem is that only the second notation is available: perl-MD5
I know this is an old problem. Is this only centos related?
Is there a workaround?
Do I have to modify the spec file? I'd like to use yum...

Gnu sieve vs Dovecot sieve-filter - sieve-filter extremely slow at lda (writing emails to local mbox files)
(I did subscribe to this mailing list, albeit with zen at
freedbms.net, so either way I'm getting all your emails - thank you
-so- much for replying...)
MUA is mutt, reading email in a terminal (sorry, forgot to mention this before).
For many years now my email folder (mbox files) collection has grown
to many GiB, mostly mailing lists.
If I am to change email storage format, it should be

Mea culpa.
That was an inadvertent mess-up on my part; I did not see the headers,

Rails vs. Cocoon
Hello all,
I''m hoping that someone out there in Rails-land has developed in both Cocoon
and Rails and would like to share their experiences using both application
frameworks.
I''m going to be doing a presentation in the next couple of days on the
advantages that Rails affords. The higher-ups are going to use this info on
deciding whether or not to move away from Cocoon and

Dovecot vs Exim file locking
Hi all:
We're planning to deploy a large e-mail system storing maildirs in a NAS
system through NFS. One of the options we're thinking on is using
Dovecot+EXIM.
As far as I've read in both project's documentation, both services implement
locking allowing multiple servers to access the same maildirs in order to
distribute the service load. However, I can't find any information

Version controlled (git) Maildir generated by Dovecot
Hello Adam,
thanks for the reply. Sounds fair enough to me. I hadn't thought about that
last benefit of git. I haven't deleted anything off my pc for years ...
still got HDD from 15 years ago with 'something' on them ?
Sorry this is going to go off topic somewhat .... (ok, I've just read it
again... its gone off topic a lot... again, apologies for that)
One more question, if

Hello,
This is my first post and it is to consult about an issue I am having.
Here is the error I get in my logs:

If I use kinit to authenticate it works with no problems. Any ideas on the

Thanks..!

I am using Evolution to connect to dovecot imap server. Today the server was upgraded to 2.2.1 from 2.1.9, and there is problem with evolution being unable to subscribe to INBOX.

Dovecot Courier
Hello, I've been testing dovecot, and it appears to be much faster then
courier-imap. I am using the latest .99 version, trying to make the
transition from courier to dovecot as smooth as possible. We really only
use IMAP via squirrelmail, I think I've got that worked out fine,
changing a few settings in squirrelmail as the FAQ instructs and
migrating the courier subscriptions to

Dovecot 2.X, built from source, no extensions?
Greetings list.
Pardon the ignorance.
I am working on CentOS 5.2. Unfortunately the repo version of Dovecot is 1.0.X. This works fine mind you but it doesn't have ORDEREDSUBJECT Threading support, which I need. I downloaded 2.0.11 and built from source, but now I don't see any Threading support, not even REFERENCES. I looked to see if I was missing a ./configure option but if I am, it

dovecot vs. mutt: no full index sync on Maildir new/ mtime change
Hi, everyone!
This is a follow-up to "Looks like a bug to me: Dovecot ignores
Maildir/new timestamp" from Fredrik Roubert on 01.12.2015:
https://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2015-December/102585.html
I've run into the same problem as Fredrik: When manipulating my Maildir
locally with mutt, deleting a message from new/ doesn't cause a full
update of the index. Therefore, IMAP

Dovecot indexes
Hi,
could someone answer my following questions about dovecot indexes?
- If I delete dovecot indexes, it recreates them without any problem, right?
- If dovecot recreates indexes, it does not affect users (they don't
have to download all emails again, seen flag is not lost etc.) or is
there any problem?
- If I use mail_location = ...:INDEX=MEMORY, it recreates indexes
every time dovecot is

Non-dovecot user looking for feedback
I've been using UW-IMAPd for neigh on forever (at least since 2001). But, as it's basically stalled, and I'm about to update the hardware that is my mail server, I thought it was time to review existing open-source IMAP servers. Dovecot is the top three in my looking.
The other of the top three candidates, because I know of people who've used it, is Cyrus IMAP. So, I should

"Corrupted index cache file" error (Dovecot 1.0.3)
Greetings -
Now that users are beginning to pile up more on our new Dovecot-based
IMAP service I'm seeing a small number of entries like this in the
logfiles:
Corrupted index cache file /mailstore/index/o/ozw100/.INBOX/
dovecot.index.cache
: invalid record size
We are using Dovecot 1.0.3 with Maildir folders served over NFS from
NetApp filers, but the index files are stored on local
